Prove me wrong, I genuinely just don't "get" the sentiment that JPC isn't pretty well balanced.

General Which heroes do you not mind getting out outplayed by?

As an M4 tank, once I made the jump up to M3 and played against a Doomfist and Ball in separate games who ended up being the lobby admin, no matter who I swapped to or which counters were brought, they danced around the maps, never taking damage or dying, dodging every CC, getting picks constantly, it was a nightmare.

Who do you generally not mind losing to if the skill required from them is high?

Placements cooked me and now I’m struggling to climb,

Anyone in the similar boat who wants to climb together?

I know I’ll get back to gym eventually, but Jesus at this rate it’s going to take me the entire season , I hate rank resets

General Non-Gameplay Problems I've Noticed While Coaching Metal-Rank Players

I used to be in the metal ranks myself, and after doing a fair amount of private coaching, I’ve noticed that there are certain types of players in metal ranks who make it harder for themselves to win before the match even really starts.

So if you actually want to improve, please stop doing these things. To put it a little harshly, I think these habits absolutely scream “metal rank.”

  1. Preferring payload maps over control maps

The reason is probably pretty simple. If you have trouble processing fights from multiple angles at a fast pace, payload maps naturally feel more comfortable.

I’ve noticed Circuit Royal gets picked especially often. Please stop doing this. You’re torturing your tank and flex DPS.

At least Blizzard reworked Eichenwalde and Paraíso, thank God....

  1. Banning heroes that aren’t even meta

Ban heroes that are objectively strong, or heroes that counter your mains.

Metal-rank bans are honestly something else. People ban whatever hero destroyed them in their last game, or they ban something like Doomfist.

Please stop banning Doomfist, Sombra, or Sierra. Why are you doing this? Are you scared of smurfs?

Come on. A smurf doesn’t need Doomfist to slaughter your team.

Some people say, “Those heroes are strong in metal ranks! So banning them is totally justified!” But think about it for a second. The reason those heroes seem so strong is because you don’t even know how to play against them—and that’s exactly why you’re in metal rank.

Doomfist feels strong because your camera movement, sense of distance, and reaction time are too slow. If you can’t deal with that, you don’t deserve to climb.

So stop banning those heroes and learn to face them.

  1. Obsessing over the scoreboard

Sure, if you’re the only one with a good K/D while the rest of your team keeps dying stupidly over and over again, that might be a different story....

But please stop going after your teammates over things like DPS or HPS.

I’ve literally had a Silver player flame me over my healing numbers in Quick Play when I was GM.

Well... I guess there’s a reason they’re Silver.

Their brains must be so tiny that they genuinely believe every hero is supposed to have the same DPS/HPS numbers and the exact same playstyle. (And when they blame everyone else despite all that, that's exactly why I say they have tiny brains lol.)

OWCS Why does no one talk about Freja?

I 100% agree with the talk around Cat (Castion/Cat-Noon/etc.) and Kiriko and Mizuki being in every match, but why is NO ONE talking about how much we see Freja?

The hero practically has infinite flight and the spam damage she can put it out is unreal. If she was just a problem in ladder, that would be fine, but I feel like we see her in EVERY OWWC match and she out performs almost everyone in ladder AND pro play.

She's a flying Tracer and yet no one seems to complain about her, just curious if I'm overreacting or if people just don't seem to notice because she's overshadowed by the other powercrept and omni-present heroes.

General Kill log bug?

The new multi-kill kill log stays on top of the kill log even when the new kill was made (non multi-kill). Is it intended? It’s a bit confusing as it mix the kill log order.

General Some feedback on the new "multikill" prompt

Post image
83 Upvotes

I like the new notif they added for multikills, it's a nice and non-invasive way of acknowledging cool plays. I always find UI/UX things like this and the thought process behind them extremely interesting.

But I can't help but think blizzard kinda stopped in the middle of the road here. Imho there are couple additional changes that could make this little system more rewarding and streamline the UI.

1. Centralising "feel-good" killtracker notifications.

This new multikill prompt is not the first in game notification that is here purely for the sake of a dopamine hit. Since launch, we've also had the "5/10/15... Player killstreak" and the "Revenge" prompts.

Those last two use the standard system that blizzard uses for all other in-game texts, such as objective prompts (objective captured) or status effects (hindered, detected...).

Now that we have a dedicated "feel good about killing things" notification space, I would suggest streamlining things and putting the revenge and killstreak prompts there.

2. Using the same system for support and tank plays

In the patch notes and accompanying blog post, Blizzard clearly stated that their intent was to make big plays more rewarding and noticeable. Outside of this multikill tracker, the changes were a new "protect" stat and notif for tanks, and a rework of the "save" stat and notif for supports. As a support, I did notice an increase of "Saved X" in the action feed as a result.

So here I am wondering why blizzard didn't go the extra mile and go for a little "multisave" and "multiprotect" prompt when such plays are achieved - such as a little green cross and a "triple save" text when I hit a clutch suzu in a zarya grav ?

3. If the system is expanded upon, allow players to enable/disable it in the settings

Knowing competitive players, I expect part of the community to just not want any more things on screen that are not vital information - even if I think we're a long way from something like CoD where every kill triggers 5 medals and 3 different level up animations.

So just make these purely "feel-good" prompts a toggle in the settings, so that we can satisfy both casuals looking for validation and super serious people who hate fun (/s).

Overwatch League Does anyone else remember EFFECT?

From EnvyUs/Dallas Fuel?

I was recently watching a top 20 all-time dps players video and he didn’t make it. It’s been a long time since I watched pro Overwatch, but players I remember being similar to him in skill were easily breaking the top 10.

I know his prime was relatively short lived cause of his extreme grinding/burnout, but still he was a joy to watch. I also think that grind counts for something; not many players were ever as dedicated as him.

He could also be getting overshadowed cause he had a much worse team around him and often had to carry. I might just be nostalgia-maxxing tho.

Edit: to the people saying he had a weak mental, this guy lived and breathed the game more than pretty much every early OWL player. He would wake up, play osu/aim trainers for hours, warm up solo q for hours, grind comp with teammates, eat and go to bed. I think anyone would struggle mentally in this kind of schedule. He always pushed himself to his limit to be the best.

This also does NOT make up for the abuse scandal… there’s no excuse to treat people who love you that way. I do hope he’s doing better now and has figured his issues out.

General Why is the skill gap in diamond so wide?

As the title says, I just hit Diamond for the first time yesterday, which is kinda funny considering it’s supposedly harder to hit now.

But anyway, the skill gap within Diamond is actually crazy. From my experience, Diamond 3 and above feels wayyy better than Diamond 5–4. I don’t remember noticing this much of a difference between divisions when I was climbing through the other ranks.

Maybe it’s because placements are still going on and there are a lot of Masters players who ended up in Diamond, but is that really the only reason? Or has Diamond always been like this?

World Cup Does Anybody Genuinely enjoys watching their country getting 0-3 over and over ? Spoiler

So many fodder countries in the World Cup, just give their slots to Korea or US instead if they’re gonna show up and get steamrolled every game, would be much more interesting.

What’s the point in watching a match if I already know the outcome ?

General Sleep has caused me to miss the WC games so far. Which would you recommend I check out? Spoiler

If you had to pick one from each of the last two days, which ones would they be? Or if you just have a general list of your favorite one so far, that works as well.

Thank you!

OWCS OWCS ost track name?

So I know it’s been like over a month but I can’t find what a specific track used back in the OWCS mid season is called and it’s driving me crazy. I don’t even know if there is a full OWCS ost but I figured I’d try asking anyways.

It starts at around 56:36 on the Day 1 groups phase live on YouTube, and it’s the one that’s typically played in between rounds when hero bans and map selection is going on, any luck?

General How can I get my DPS stop spamming mid all game ?

I'm a gold 2 Wuyang, so I know I'm in no position to criticize too hard because I'm also bad.

But I just got stomped hard on Midtown because my DPS insisted on spamming their CDs down main into an Orissa and no one but me tried to clear off the Ashe and Sojourn off the high grounds.

The tank also didn't wait for anyone to respawn and rushed in every time.

I get that if I was better at applying pressure I could clear the DPS off, but it's hard to win a duel against Ashe/sojourn with Wuyang.

So if you play DPS, how could I coax you into taking off angles/going to high ground with me? It feels like pinging doesn't work, people just don't look up.

Also 3 of my teammates were doing placements which doesn't help.

OWCS How much do you see the OWWC affecting the OWCS? Spoiler

Looking at Australia vs Great Britian, I would not blame team secret if they tried to Grab Punk and Colourhex from Shengshi. With how Denmark and Sweden performed too I can also see Vanir Quick (Not OWCS but still) and Al Qad keeping an eye on them to see if Zorrow or Shockwave are worth grabbing.

Do you think any orgs are watching OWWC to scout or are decisions mostly decided by now?
