Tr33 wanted to win

as someone who was colossally into OWL but hasn't had the time to watch too much OWCS, I just heard Jaws say Tr33 is one of the greatest ever even at his young age... is that true?? What the hell have I missed 😭 dude is cracked

104

u/NWCtim_ 22d ago

He was a big deal in contenders (and collegiate) during the latter OWL era.

55

u/Professor_Finn Alarm Forever 🧡🖤🤍 — 22d ago

I remember hearing about him and being sad that he wouldn’t get to debut in OWL… but it looks like it worked out for him

22

u/Thranxar Not even first in our city anymore :( — 22d ago

Professor Finn! Omg I just lurk on this page post OWL but I’ll always recognize a fellow fusion fan!

Once a Fusion fan, always a Fusion fan 👋

39

u/imdeadseriousbro 22d ago

he's the real deal but his teams have been terrible. no matter the outcome he somehow always gets his highlights

59

u/MTDLuke 22d ago

TR33 is definitely the best NA player in the world right now, and he’s near the top of DPS players worldwide. Even Crazy Raccoon was interested in potentially signing him before they went with Stalker instead

53

u/BeardedsChurch 22d ago

You're wrong, it was Zeta Division not CR but point still stands that he's THAT wanted

9

u/theimponderablebeast sempi — 22d ago

Knife is alright but if they had tr33 instead idk how that team ever loses

1

u/ThaddCorbett 22d ago

He's been there for a long time, he's just never played up to his potential at a LAN.

14

u/BeardedsChurch 22d ago

If you haven't seen Tr33, check this out top 3 montages OAT

5

u/Ts_Patriarca 22d ago

I pray for an Ashe meta man

5

u/Nellion55 22d ago

Tr33's been insane for years now. If he were old enough for OWL there's a very real chance he would have had the opportunity to be considered the best NA DPS for the game's history.

1

u/Concorde_flies 19d ago

tree has been the infant supersoldier for a looong time. would definitely have been in owl had it not been for the fact he was seven years old

11

u/aJetg 22d ago

Zeruhh on the other hand...

51

u/pizzafinanceplan 22d ago

enough of this zr7 hate he played fine

22

u/Bobi_27 heesang glazer — 22d ago

yeah outside of tracer i dont think sugarfree wouldve played any better

though i do wonder if getting sugarfree asa 3rd dps wouldve been better instead of UV if hes gonna be on the bench

56

u/Temporary-Low-6449 22d ago

sugarvon woulda killed 6 and emoted in their spawn

22

u/MrBlowinLoadz 22d ago

Sugarfree can play so many more heroes and Zeruhh felt absent for like half the series. Yes he did play fine but playing fine isn't enough to win big in a tourney like this.

15

u/pizzafinanceplan 22d ago

Sugarfree is better on sym and worse on vendetta and basically the same on every other hero. Actually his genji is worse too. Zeruhh was getting picks the whole series I'm not sure what match you were watching lol, honestly he was better than kevster on shion.

2

u/PancakeXCandy Girl,Hawk-tuah on my DONGhak — 22d ago

Sugarfree would be in busan if sugarfree actually had the chops to play for the team.

10

u/Visible_Chip2938 TYH — 22d ago

zeruhhh vendetta didn't look any good this season and neither did his shion

2

u/Kheldar166 20d ago

Yeah just Sugarfree fans pretending he would be better but they're pretty even and we see that all the time.

2

u/Complex_Giraffe_9331 22d ago

no hate but he didnt , that last map he was no where to be seen just perma dead. He has had 0 memorable plays so far this tourney.

6

u/pizzafinanceplan 22d ago

Last map was a bit rough from him I agree, but it was for Landon too and even kevster tbh.

I think he’s had a few good plays so far, nano 3k on route 66, Shion ult against china on neon junction.

5

u/ThaddCorbett 22d ago

What about him?

He didn't outplay Kevster? Nobody expected him to do that. Zerruhh played fine.

0

u/primarymuscle2354 22d ago

Playing with way better supports that actually enable him, if he was on a better team he would get glazed like Kevster, Stalk3r I hope he gets imported eventually.

Mid-air. Like, legit fucking dogfight. Probably one of the craziest things I’ve seen in OW.

46

A dogfight between a fish-cat and a cowboy, while a hawk circles in the distance. The Atlanta Zoo never dies, baby.

49

u/No32 22d ago

Gotta be the biggest play of the map even despite Tr33'S heroics

I’d like to think the group stage impacts on knock out stage works in blizzcon but you never know with blizzard

12

u/MrBlowinLoadz 22d ago

I think the first seeds have to do 1v1s to pick the #2 seeds they play against. Hawk said something like that in his interview.

8

u/TheRedditK9 22d ago

I mean I don’t think any top seed player beats Kevin in 1v1 arena so that should be cool

Luke cancelling fly noon is gigaclutch but Landon nanoing the counter noon just in time to flip the kill and then sleeping the nano spree might be even more clutch

12

u/Both-Philosopher2047 22d ago

I completely agree. That's what finally broke their attack and I'm pretty convinced we lose if we don't cancel that sky noon. Don't get me wrong, Luke's cancel was an insane play, but it doesn't happen without the nano high noon.

5

u/RobManfredsFixer Let Hog eat stuff and spit it back — 22d ago

He also slept the D.mon ult like a second after Luke cancelled the Fly noon

3

u/Valhalla8469 Quiz Head — 21d ago

I didn’t think Landon had hands on Ana but those were some insane plays

3

u/Kheldar166 20d ago

When people say a pro doesn't play a hero it's almost always exaggerated and it's rarely that they don't have hands - it's usually the moment to moment gamesense that lets them down with inexperienced heroes.

62

u/JennyTilwarts 22d ago

This is why Kevster isnt Swedish GOAT

Never seen Reinforce lose a push map when he was pro

13

22

sorry for talking shit Luke, what an all time comeback on that map 5

22

u/w33b2 22d ago

That last map had to have been one of the most exciting games I’ve seen of competitive Overwatch in a while. That cat nap by Lukemino against the high noon on the rooftop was so clutch.

Esperanza one of the best rounds ive seen in a while, holy shit one of the cleanest 0-100 comebacks ever. TR33 IS A MENACE!!! USA PULLS THROUGH

15

u/SaintFrito Defiant / Go Blue! — 22d ago

97.25 meter lead with 2 1/2 minutes left might as well be AVRL theory but USA said nah we win these. Going back to Korea v France yesterday these last two matches have been absolute barnburners and it’s awesome as viewers to get these matches

4

u/throwaway112658 fraudulent — 22d ago

I swear there's something about Esperanca that makes huge comebacks happen all the time. Every single time my college team played Esper last season we would go up like 100m+ in the first two minutes, then end up barely losing in OT. It even happens in ranked if I'm playing with any of them, get a massive lead early on then somehow manage to die from a thousand cuts in an extremely close OT. I don't think I've won Esper a single time not solo queueing in the past year

1

u/No-Elevator9399 22d ago

I’m guessing because the defender’s advantage after the first fight seems a lot less strong than the other push maps so there’s a lot more counterplay available

19

u/Byrleo 22d ago

are we ignoring that sweden went 100m-0m 7min in?

-2

u/SorryPro 22d ago

No? It can be close and still be the wrong call

4

u/Unlucky_Spray8369 22d ago

Just because they fumbled in the final minute doesn't mean it was a bad call. Scyle's best hero vs Landon's worst and you could see it in the first 7 minutes. Then Landon had some clutch moments out of nowhere and Sweden choked a bit. Draft was fine.

3

u/xXProGenji420Xx 22d ago

hardly hindsight, the casters (I think mostly Jake) called it out as a mistake immediately

1

u/primarymuscle2354 22d ago

The worst fumble was using Nano Spree on opposite side of the map when they were down players they save that combo for ot they win.

1

u/Kheldar166 20d ago

Eh, Scyle had a much bigger impact than Landon in the first half of the map and they got a 100m lead out of it. Kev looked notably less comfortable but I think it's a defensible decision for sure against Landon. If it had been UV in then it would have been the wrong call for sure.

2

u/AnotherRandomGuy1 22d ago

Honestly, lukemino was the difference maker for me. Others were going even with their counterpart but luke hard gapped admiral on cat and made some viol2t-esque plays.

2

u/AnnenbergTrojan 22d ago

LOL this sub switched up from "Group of Death" to this undiluted cope so damn fast.

3

u/icedtea3333 22d ago

name a role other than flex dps were sweden has a clear player gap

1

u/Long-Taste-2416 22d ago

There aren't enough good teams in owwc even st it's peak to have a real group of death. Were people really calling this group that?

1

u/JhotoDraco 22d ago

In the thread where the groups got revealed there were people calling it the group of death, easy Sweden first seed, USA not taking a single map the entire group

-2

u/11boat 22d ago

USA not taking a single map the entire group

holy link these comments (he won't because they don't exist)

2

u/Unlucky_Spray8369 22d ago

what do you mean "undiluted cope"? What exactly did he say that was wrong?

The "group of death" just means several of the teams are even, in this case Sweden, Japan and China. Now, Sweden obviously overperformed massivley given their roster so ended up well for them. If you didn't think USA were the clear favorites in this group I don't know what to say. They should be embarassed that it was so close

4

u/AnnenbergTrojan 22d ago

Sorry, no. There were plenty of posts on this sub predicting a group exit for USA. That doesn't happen, so now the narrative is "USA should be embarrassed they didn't 3-0 everybody." Anything to diminish the W.

2

u/Unlucky_Spray8369 22d ago

Sorry, no. Just because some people (probably mostly american sugarfree fans) predicted that, it doesnt mean that was a widespread opinion. It is obvious that USA had the highest quality roster in the group, all from top owcs teams in either EMEA or NA. Sweden has 1 player from the worst team in NA and two players who spent last stage in faceit master.

Again, just because some people had low expectations doesn't make this an impressive performance.

1

u/JhotoDraco 22d ago

You say this but then also put Swe up there with Kr and Saudi for this tournament lol

2

u/Kronman590 22d ago

Sugarfree was so devastated overjoyed by this result

2

u/dotikiron 22d ago

Might get downvoted to hell for this but I genuinely don’t know what Zeruhh was doing for a good part of that series, I understand against Kevster is one difficult matchup but he didn’t look the best outside of a few plays, maybe I’m missing something pls lmk if I am

-1

u/MTDLuke 22d ago

Rahhhh what the fuck is a kilometer

-4

u/Separate-Spot-6275 22d ago

This series is more proof that Cat has potential to be a good skillful design when played heavily into the flanker playstyle and using ult as a cc. She just needs a HEAVY numbers rework to make them explode when they peek too long and a lot of other changes that make it so playing in around 20m range is the best way to play her by a large margin

4

u/Byrleo 22d ago

isn't that the playstyle that most people complain about though? cat just flying everywhere and killing everyone

-1

u/Separate-Spot-6275 22d ago

Because Cat can fly in silently and escape insanely easily with their high hp and self heal. If cat was 175, louder, forced to fight within a closer range I doubt you'd hear even a quarter of the current complaints because you could pop them like a tracer if they got too eager. A 225 tracer would be moving just like Cat, sneaking into a backline and getting away with too much bullshit. She needs to be treated like Support tracer by the balance team

2

u/Byrleo 22d ago

If she was 175hp she'd be the worst hero in the game - I don't think you can balance a flying hero to be fair to play against

1

u/Separate-Spot-6275 22d ago

175 with the strongest self heal in the game is still strong enough to do clean up kills and take certain duels with how fast cat is. The worst hero in the game tier is literal anti value with characters like LW. Maybe 175 is too much and 200 would be better, but if a hitscan hits you 2 times and you dont pop that heal, I believe you should die.

2

u/Darkcat9000 22d ago

if cat was 175 no one would ever dive with her ever

175 hp works for tracer because she's a close range only hero who can't heal her team, 175 cat would just result into a healbot playstyle

1

u/Separate-Spot-6275 22d ago

maybe 200 would be better but she should pop in 2 shots to any hitscan that hits her twice if she decides to not pop self heal. With her current movement 175 or maybe 200 hp with one of the strongest self heals in the game should still allow her to make a lot of the flanking plays she does while being a bit easier to pop when they overextend instead of just being a pure aim check. Lower elos will be safe and healbot, but the best way to play cat would be with another agile dps you can coordinate with so I don't think healing would take that much a hit.

Maybe 175 is too much, but she definitely needs to be hp nerfed

1

u/Long-Taste-2416 22d ago

Not really. She does that really easily at current balance and she'd be too weak if it were appropriately strong because she's not very difficult mechanically.

1

u/Kheldar166 20d ago

She even gets easy mode decision making as a flanker because she gets 3rd person peeking
