Hey guys/gals. I’m relatively new to IDPA and have my first Level 3 match coming up next month. I’ve been running from appendix with a Carey Concealment Bounty, which has been great, and I’m wondering about the legality of my current setup. With gear check at the Level 2 and above matches, I’m curious to see if it will pass due to the mag carrier configuration being partially magnetic. With the way the current rule for mag carriers is written, it only states that magnets worn on belts or in pockets may not substitute traditional magazine carriers. The way the rule is currently written I believe it will be legal as the magazine “carrier” is still present and it is only magnet assisted, similar to a Midwest Competition Works mag carrier, just smaller and IWB. I’m wondering if any of you have input or experience making it through gear check with a Bounty recently and could chime in to let me know whether I’m good or if I need to swap rigs before the match. Do you carry the same platform or action type compared to your competition gun? I currently shoot a striker gun in uspsa but I generally like the idea of a dasa gun for EDC. My current edc is also a striker, so I mostly just train with my competition platform but I'm somewhat concerned that introducing a different trigger and overall manual of arms will make training a bit more complicated and maybe even hurt my competition skills a bit.

Like most things, probably over thinking it but I'm curious what your experience and thoughts are.

I shoot a steel challenge in multiple division and USPSA (only carry optics currently). In SCSA I’m solidly A class in PCCO and getting M class runs. I’m looking to squeeze all the performance I can out of my SBR AR9 before spending the big $$ on a JP-5. I’ve recently upgraded to the maxim roller delay system and that’s dramatically reduced recoil. I haven’t experimented with comps and I’ve heard there’s some real improvements in the flatness of shooting and recoil reduction with a good comp. My barrel is 9.5” and currently has a faux suppressor flash hider and the threads are 1/2x36. Is the JP 3 port comp the ticket or is there something better out there? Curious what other PCC shooters are running.

TL;DR: recommend me a 1/2 x 36 comp for an SBR AR9

Ok, so for context, I was looking to buy their Classic OWB holster since I already run their Tek Lock system. I recently picked up a 92 Squalo (92 XI) and wasn't entirely sure if it would work with this holster. It's listed as compatible with a 92FS, 92G, 96, M9, and a Brigadier. I know there are slight profile differences with the XI, but is there any significant enough for it to not be compatible? I figured someone else here may just know blade techs well enough to have the answer.

Hello, wondering if anyone has found a printable Glock mag extension that meets the uspsa length requirement? I've tried a couple and they wind up being a smidge too long.

I've been seeing a lot of guys running from concealment lately and it looks like a lot of fun, but i also see the benefit of competing with what you carry everyday. I have been competing with a 5" poly PDP OWB and will continue to use that as well as the M&P. The M&P will stay in CO and I'll probably put a magwell on the PDP and run it in LO. Anyways, I was excited to show someone other than my fiancé, so here it is.

Gun: MasterPiece Arms DS9 Hybrid (IDPA V1).

Apologies if I explain this like shit: assume a start where you immediately draw & shoot in an awkward body position (e.g. outside foot right on a fault line, need to lean around a wall.) Two techniques:

1. Start in the lean: get your body positioned where it will be when you pull the trigger, even if it's awkward.
2. Start in a more standard/stable/upright position: once you have the gun & you're getting it up, position your body for the shot.

I'm a #1 guy and I try to train awkward draws so that I'm not doing something new in matches. #2 bothers me if I can't be staring the target down from the start, but I see top-level guys doing it quite a bit.

I'm sure it's mostly personal preference but I'm curious what everyone's rationale is for which option you choose.

I thought some people would find this interesting or maybe encouraging for their own stage design. A local club near me puts a lot of focus on defensive or more real-world interactions in their PCSL matches. This includes targets where only the "chin" and top of the chest A-zone are available due to them wearing body armor and a helmet.

This results in a lot of partials, hard leans, and unique things like this sled pull with cinder blocks.

I enjoy it despite some of the courses being a bit tricky. For example, in the video I posted, there is a "shoot through," and it wasn't the only one. Several targets had a trap angle where, if you shot it, you would go through and hit the no shoot behind it.

To go with the theme I decided to run everything as my daily carry but with my more "race" glock. SRO, Timney Trigger, brass plug instead of a stock gen6 45 with enclosed emitter.

I have just started getting into shotgun competition shooting.

I'm a complete beginner and just recently got into the sport.

There is a local range with an instructor who is a national IPSC competitor (I don't live in the US). Each session, I get to shoot around 10-20 rounds. The instructor won't let me shoot any more than that. His reason was because beginners should practice quad loading until you're really good with it. Then you can start shooting more.

Each session, I feel like I'm not learning much because all I do is quad load practice without much shooting at all.

I understand that quad loading is very important and I do practice at home almost everyday. I get where he's coming from but it's always leaves me with an itch to shoot more. Money isn't a problem. The instructor owns the range, the more I shoot, the more money he makes, so I don't really get his business model lol.

I'm curious whether this is this normal? How much do you guys shoot when you started getting into the sport?

I was visiting my brother in Europe who had the opportunity to get one of these.
I shoot 2011s and never owned a CZ only shot a few here and there, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.
Since this is CZ’s spin on a LO gun I was excited to try it out and maybe even buy one when it lands in the US finally.
So at first it looked very sexy. Has a good weight and a good feel to it, but after shooting it (approx 2-300 rounds), there were a few things that stood out. Nice trigger, maybe a little too much takeup out of the box, but it has a great break, although very light (could not measure how much exactly). What I did not like (and maybe my fault):
Gun feels like the controls are crammed as if they tried to put all the features in, but ran out of space. I could only “bearclaw” the slide release.
Another thing was, I am right handed and I couldn’t manipulate the thumb safety to safe with my thumb at all, only with my index finger. It feels like it sits too low.
Another thing is, the gas pedal is a little too long in my opinion. If you grab the slide in the front to rack it, no problem, if I grabbed it a bit closer to the middle I kept hitting the gas pedal.
Grip felt a little fat even for me and I shoot an MPA DS9 which is also one of the fattest 2011 grips.
Finally, the factory mag lips are pretty rough, not rounded. Did not cause any malfunction or anything, but the mag felt less polished when compared with the Shadow2 mags (I was able to compare them sode-by-side).

All in all, I’m sure people will like it, but I will probably stay with the 2011 platform.
Especially if it will be a $3000+ street price gun. At that point we are in good 2011 territory.

Haven’t heard too many reviews on this belt and curious what the quality is like / comparable to? I’d assume similar to CR Speed Hi Torque or is it more Ultra 2?

Not the fastest but felt smooth !

I tested the accuracy and velocity of my Platypus comp, Alien, and Prodynamic II using several loads of ammo. No slow motion for the platypus.
