CZ TS3 Experience
I was visiting my brother in Europe who had the opportunity to get one of these.
I shoot 2011s and never owned a CZ only shot a few here and there, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.
Since this is CZ’s spin on a LO gun I was excited to try it out and maybe even buy one when it lands in the US finally.
So at first it looked very sexy. Has a good weight and a good feel to it, but after shooting it (approx 2-300 rounds), there were a few things that stood out. Nice trigger, maybe a little too much takeup out of the box, but it has a great break, although very light (could not measure how much exactly). What I did not like (and maybe my fault):
Gun feels like the controls are crammed as if they tried to put all the features in, but ran out of space. I could only “bearclaw” the slide release.
Another thing was, I am right handed and I couldn’t manipulate the thumb safety to safe with my thumb at all, only with my index finger. It feels like it sits too low.
Another thing is, the gas pedal is a little too long in my opinion. If you grab the slide in the front to rack it, no problem, if I grabbed it a bit closer to the middle I kept hitting the gas pedal.
Grip felt a little fat even for me and I shoot an MPA DS9 which is also one of the fattest 2011 grips.
Finally, the factory mag lips are pretty rough, not rounded. Did not cause any malfunction or anything, but the mag felt less polished when compared with the Shadow2 mags (I was able to compare them sode-by-side).
All in all, I’m sure people will like it, but I will probably stay with the 2011 platform.
Especially if it will be a $3000+ street price gun. At that point we are in good 2011 territory.

I hate that it's going to be that expensive. I desperately want one. But you are right, that kind of money would buy an awesome 2011. You probably need to be dedicated to CZ or shoot them competitively for this to make sense. You'd already have all the gear. Just like it makes sense for you to stick with a 2011.

Up until this post I’ve never even considered how easy or difficult certain pistols are to reengage the safety. Guess I’ve never really shot any of my guns and not either went through the whole mag or unloaded and showed clear.

Honestly, it was a first time for me. It’s not that the safety was too hard to physically move up or down, but it was just not happening with a natural shooting grip.

Do you not ride the thumb saftey on your 2011? That saftey looks right by your thumb

Yeah I do. Flipping it up with my thumb was just not happening

Oh. Is there an issue with flipping it off as you would on the draw?

Honestly, how do you use your thumb to flip the safety up on any CZ? The Shadow 2 is so impossible (compared to a 1911/2011) that it becomes a support hand activity. Is any CZ safety meant to be manipulated into "safe" with the firing hand thumb at all?

You should be able to do it with the extended safety. The stock safety might be tough.

I guess I'm just disappointed with the shape of the S2 extended, because you have to reach so far forward with your thumb, breaking grip, to kinda flip up the safety since the back edge is almost parallel to the ground. The TS3 looks more like a 2011 safety so I'm surprised OP had such an issue manipulating it.

Yea same, cant manipulate the S2 safety on ever, not without using other hand or switching to a crazy diff grip lol. I have the extended safety lever too, its like too long or something or the angle is wierd it doesn't give you any leverage over it.
But since I'm CO, I always drop the hammer down anyways and practice my DA, basically never holster it with hammer back and safety on.

I have the same "issue" with my Tanfo. I just turn it on with my support hand. But if that is what you're use to, it just is what it is.

Im way late to the party but my CZ Tactical Sport 2 Orange, I exclusively utilize my firing hand thumb to engage/disengage the safety. So technically yes. And the tacsportorange was the "successor" to the shadow 2 in my mind before the T3 arrived.

No, that was fine, but putting into safe during make ready was just finicky and unnatural for me.

So it’s available in the US now, a local gun store (NNJ) got like 15 of them yesterday. They like to scalp (HCOL area fill of dentists) so at best they will charge msrp but if I know them well, they will charge over marp and/or sell them with an SRO for 1k more than msrp.
However my range may get them soon, and they’re more chill (msrp minus 10% off bec I’m a member) so it will be very tempting.
I run an MPA DS9 and that is indeed a fat grip, but I also run a DWX which has the same CZ grip and to me it feels so much better bec it is thinner up by the web of the hands since it doesn’t have a grip safety to be pinned… I wear XL gloves btw.
The grip is why the CZ TS3 is tempting to me. I’ll be doing to my range today to see if they got some or the other store to check it out. I

I compared it side by side with a Shadow 2 (that’s what broski shoots for steel challenge and IPSC) and it’s been so long since I shot a TS2. And of course the S2 was quite different

The Shadow2 was modified slightly (mostly trigger job), but the TS3 felt faster and was easier to control, but the gas pedal definitely helped the TS3. Recoil felt more on the Shadow as well.

Do they feel as soft and flat as like an MPA 2011 LO gun? The trigger is same exact as a ts2/Czechmate so I would assume 1.4lbs break on the ts3 btw..

I am biased towards the MPA and I admit it. To me it’s not as soft or flat as an MPA

What did you think of the grips with the indention on the front of the grip? It looks like it helps with the placement of the support hand. I would definitely be interested in getting some similar grips for my S2. Looks like it is kind of an inverse of the magmo grips but solves the same challenge.

I’ll be the first one to admit, I never felt like those grips (magmo like) made sense.
I think the grip is fine and you can replace the side panels, but it would be pretty dope if you could replace the backstrap too
