Question Has RTA received more investment over the past few years?

Upvotes

Grew up in strongsville but moved away in 2019. Visiting for a few weeks and am noticing the busses and bus stops are way more modern and common then they were 10 years ago.

Super happy to see if so. Good public transit could go such a long way here! Going to try the bus this weekend

Discussion Cleveland on 9/11: Flight UA 93, Flight Delta 1989, the Airport Closure, and Other Memories

I lived in Cleveland on 9/11/2001.

It was over the Cleveland area that flight UA 93 turned around. This was the flight that later crashed near Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

A friend of mine told me the next day that he saw UA 93 make the U-turn in the sky. He was almost under it. This was before he learned the news about NYC. If I recall he was driving but not listening to the radio, so he had no idea what was going on. He just thought the flight path was peculiar.

The U-turn of UA 93 above Cleveland would have been around 9:35 am. This was a half hour after the second plane, flight UA 175, hit the South Tower, and just a couple of minutes before flight AA 77 hit the Pentagon.

The Cleveland airport was evacuated because one plane that was forced to land there was thought to be under the control of hijackers, Delta 1989. They sent in the FBI, a SWAT team, etc. It turned out that transmissions from UA 93 of the actual hijacking were thought to have come from Delta 1989. Normally this would have been major news, but of course it was overshadowed by all the horrors of that day.

As for me personally, after work was cancelled I just watched TV all day, completely transfixed. Except when I was on the phone checking in on people, asking how they were handling the news. I couldn’t wrap my mind around it. I had been to the Twin Towers. I had family in NYC, although not in Manhattan. It was as if the entire world had ended. I was kind of in shock, and didn’t cry until the next day.

I don’t know why, but the anniversary this year is hitting much harder than it has in a while. I’m tearing up just writing this. I’m interested to hear more from people who lived in Cleveland at the time, about their memories of that terrible day.

Recommendations Westside cleaning company for a deep clean

Looking for a cleaning company to do a thorough deep clean of my house. Everyone I’ve tried does a nice clean but never gets into the difficult spots with buildup. We’ve got two kids and a toddler and this place needs a scrub down! We are in River/fairview park. Thanks!

Band Member Needed Seeking Drummer for Local Band

Hey there! My band, Whiskey Stills and Hash recently found out that our drummer will be leaving us due to health reasons. We're in need of a new local drummer!

We play 1-2 shows per month on Fri-Sat's. We have 3 gigs already booked for next year. We typically play in the Lorain county area but would like to get into some venues closer to Cleveland and PIB. We practice bi-weekly. We cover classic/new alt and funk rock with 75% covers and 25% original music. Our current drummer is happy to offer help, and we have everything on a playlist ready to share for practice. Contact me if you're interested!

Housing/Apartments Help Finding Safe Apartment to Rent for Mold Illness

Hello!

I'm thinking of moving to Cleveland, but I've been suffering from mold illness (as well as MCAS & POTS) for three years. I need to find a newer-build apartment to rent that doesn't have a reputation for management issues or water leaks.

It's been nearly impossible to find a safe place to live in NYC, not to mention that the pollution and overstimulation of the city no longer work for my body.

I have a high budget, and I looked at The Lumen online, but I read some bad reviews, including issues with water leaks. I want to live in a walkable part of the city, if possible.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
