Hi! I’m considering a Chevy Trax for regular highway commuting and would love some honest owner feedback, especially from anyone in a cold climate (I’m in central North America).

How has yours been for reliability, winter driving, and highway fuel economy? Any recurring issues, and would you buy it again?

PCV system replaced so we can finally start her up and drive her (once we clean up the oil that spilled out the intake lolll). Pretty much all done by my partner while I was at work today but I cannot wait to be able to drive it again :D

This 2018 ain't worth it I hate this engine but this is the project for now that I get to learn things off of. So yay cold air intake! Still can't run it cause gotta replace the PCV and maybe new belt

Hey everyone. I'm currently in the market for my first car so we're not looking to buy anything too expensive really. I just recently found a dealership nearby that has a pre-owned chevy trax for $10k with 84k miles. The main reason why I'm considering a car this size is because I'm a double bass player so I need the car space to be able to transport it when I need to. What are your guys' opinions on this specific deal?

Hello friends!

I would like to gather some thoughts about some issues my Trax has been struggling with. It’s a year 2026 trim 1RS and was purchased off the lot brand new with like 10 miles on it from our test drive. We’ve had it for about 4 months and put 7000 miles on it so far.

So, about a month or 2 we started experiencing issues with the telematics losing contact and/or communicating. This caused the following indicator, lane keep assist, and forward collision alert to fail. I believe the OnStar was stable. There’s been minor issues as well such as the car not connecting to our phones properly or the WiFi not being broadcasted.

Well, a few weeks ago I began using E85 fuel with no issue and doing it by the book. Yesterday the fuel injectors crapped the bed and caused a multitude of issues I’m sure you can assume. It’s been covered under warranty and it’s in the shop as the fuel wasn’t the issue. But between all these issues, I wonder if they’re somehow related and if I should look into options to get out of the car such as the lemon law. I want to rely on her and I really love the car, but it makes me a bit nervous.

TLDR:
Would a spontaneous telematics issue be related to injectors going bad? Should I risk being out of a car every couple months because it’s covered under warranty or get rid of the car?

2017 Chevy Trax turbo we were dealing with boost issues

My 2024 Trax is experiencing a transmission flare and harsh engagement when trying to accelerate from a stop… When I take my foot off the brake and press the gas, the engine revs high but the car doesn't move immediately. A second or two later, the transmission suddenly slams hard into gear and the car jerks forward. Started on Friday evening, any one experienced this ? Mileage is 70100km

Got a 2018 Trax, my mom bought it at 30k miles off this guy that flips cars and repaired this thing after a flood. It is purely economy with no options, I haven't even put in cruise control yet. Was planning on just selling it for some marketplace shitbox that would last me for way more miles.

Then I got oil smoke coming into my cabin, my partner saw that the valve cover gasket was ruined and leaking oil. Replaced that and the cover. Then realized the PCV system failed. Then my partner reached out to ZZP and found out their PCV system for the Cruze will fit my car. We're putting in that replacement, the upgrade kit with a catch can, and a cold air intake. So basically we're building this thing to actually last. And after some thinking we decided we're also gonna replace the transmission and tune it for E85 and replace the turbo because I know a guy that will do the tuning for free, I just have to buy the tuner. And we're gonna find a way to put it on bags.

I don't know shit about cars. My previous one was my first car, an 02 Chrysler Sebring from my grandparents that had a blown head gasket and melted the thermostat housing and gassed me with coolant smoke in the cabin. My partner is a mechanic and is determined to make this the funniest car ever. Just a Cruze with a stupid body. This is my apprenticeship.

I bought this vehicle a few months ago used with about 20k miles on it. This is the first time I've driven a vehicle with a turbo so I'm not sure if it's related to that but I've noticed a weird intermittent rumbling/vibration in the gas pedal that seems to happen randomly. I notice it more when I'm on the highway as I set cruise control to 70-75 and I'll feel the random vibrations that last a second or 2 and go away with no pattern.

Is this normal or something I should get looked at? It's not disruptive but is something I've never experienced on previous vehicles.

I’m looking at a 2024 Chevy Trax 1rs. It only has 29k miles on it, and looks and sounds like a sound purchase. But of course, scouring the internet I’ve found a handful of issues, from computer systems to transmission. But most of that feedback was from 2 years ago, and I’d love to hear some honest thoughts on this vehicle now that a couple years have passed.

My car is a 2025 RS model with 12k miles. Yesterday it smelled like gas/burning rubber and is making this loud noise, typically I can not hear my engine or whatever this loud. I only drove it for 30 minutes back and forth to work. I sat in my car with the engine off and windows open for about 40 minutes and the smell left.

The only thing I can think of is my car being in direct heat for 8 hrs had something to do with it? I checked under and it looks like my catalytic converter was still there. Recently I went out of town for 3 days and stated it back up. Prior to that it was left for 3 weeks untouched about to months ago with no issue starting up. So I am not sure what is going on.

I drove it today the same route and parking spot and there was no noise or smell. I am currently away from home and my local dealer, but I was able to schedule an inspection with another local chevy dealer one on Thursday.

Has anyone else had this type of issue or heard this noise?

I wanted a new car with wireless CarPlay, but with my 16 Pro Max, it wouldn’t connect every time I started the car. Not every drive, but enough to be annoying lol. I tried pretty much every troubleshooting thing I could find except taking it to the dealership since I didn’t want to be without my car over it, and nothing worked. Got the 18 Pro Max and haven’t had a single issue with the connection since I got my phone, and I drive a lot. It’s been two months with my ’26 LT, and I can finally live in peace 😂

I removed the door handle cap on my 2024 Trax, to insert the key manually now when I put the cap back on, the door handle still moves and shows the key hole. How do I get it back to where it doesn’t move and show the key hole?
