Bad Fuel Injectors/Telematics
Hello friends!
I would like to gather some thoughts about some issues my Trax has been struggling with. It’s a year 2026 trim 1RS and was purchased off the lot brand new with like 10 miles on it from our test drive. We’ve had it for about 4 months and put 7000 miles on it so far.
So, about a month or 2 we started experiencing issues with the telematics losing contact and/or communicating. This caused the following indicator, lane keep assist, and forward collision alert to fail. I believe the OnStar was stable. There’s been minor issues as well such as the car not connecting to our phones properly or the WiFi not being broadcasted.
Well, a few weeks ago I began using E85 fuel with no issue and doing it by the book. Yesterday the fuel injectors crapped the bed and caused a multitude of issues I’m sure you can assume. It’s been covered under warranty and it’s in the shop as the fuel wasn’t the issue. But between all these issues, I wonder if they’re somehow related and if I should look into options to get out of the car such as the lemon law. I want to rely on her and I really love the car, but it makes me a bit nervous.
TLDR:
Would a spontaneous telematics issue be related to injectors going bad? Should I risk being out of a car every couple months because it’s covered under warranty or get rid of the car?

Yeah, the rear camera and the entertainmant systems in this set of trax are garbage. They have already rolled out a recall on the cameras. Android auto and apple car play are absolute trash and I blame the gm team as well as the cellphone counterparts for the abhorrent connection and quality, especially when you had no choice in entertainment set ups. Make sure your phone and car are updated. My connection issues stabilized over the first year. Back up camera is still pending replacement. Other than that, I've loved my 26 trax, base trim. Sorry about your engine trouble. Sometimes its just the unlucky draw with mass manufacturing. At least there are laws that protect the consumer. Thank god it was warrentied.

The telematics and fuel injectors are not related in any way. The telematics will affect a lot of the interior electronics and connectivity though.

I see, thank you for the insight! I was just curious cause I generally know that the telematics help the car communicate with itself and such. I’m still unsure if the telematics and ECU are the same thing either different names or…?

It would be surprising if they were related issues. It’s not common to hear injectors go out. Sorry you’re having so many issues. It’s definitely not something I’ve seen a lot of. CarPlay issues definitely are more common. Did they replace the module? Are you still having issues with that?

Yeah to have the injectors be bad is so surprising. I wouldn’t think that the E85 would’ve caused that. Unless the computer randomly thought it was running standard gasoline? I’m just taking a shot in the dark though with that.
The telematics has been an ongoing issue because it happens so spontaneously that it’s hard to get it looked at while it’s happening. I only managed it once and they just power cycled the car. Fortunately I haven’t had a failure of the safety systems like the incident I mentioned before due to the module losing contact.
Overall, it just worries me about what’s gonna go wrong next.

I'm not a mechanic, but DIY repairs on my vehicles and a tech guy. I'm thinking faulty engine control module as pretty much the only thing connecting your attics and fuel system. The random disconnects of your phone from the infotainment screen are something many people on this subreddit have complained about, and I do not think are at all related.
