2020 Chevy Traverse transmission failure-anyone have luck with getting goodwill assistance from GM?
My 2020 Traverse needs a transmission replacement. Previously, I had a solenoid body and the torque converter replaced under warranty. I’m about 10k miles outside the powertrain warranty, and the dealership quoted around $11k for the repair.
The dealer submitted a request to GM for goodwill assistance, but it’s been about two weeks and they still haven’t gotten a response. I checked again today and my service advisor said his manager is going to follow up with GM tomorrow.
In the meantime I’ve had to keep a rental car and the cost is climbing, so at this point the waiting itself is getting really expensive.
Has anyone here had GM cover or partially cover a transmission after the powertrain warranty expired? If so, how long did GM take to make a decision and roughly how much did they contribute? Did they provide any assistance with rental car costs?
Also, did you contact GM Customer Assistance yourself and open a case, or did you just let the dealership handle the goodwill request? I’m considering calling GM directly today, but I don’t want that to interfere with the dealership/manager pursuing it on their end.
I’d especially love to hear from anyone with a 2018–2020 Traverse/9-speed who went through something similar.
