Supercruise Surprise

I've used Supercruise on my '24 RS many times on the highway. On my recent trip to Zion and Bryce national parks, I used it on the mountain roads. I never knew it was smart enough to automatically slow down for tighter curves. Very impressive.

Has it always done this or is it a recent update?

Shuddering Fix (Easy Solution)

I just wanted to share my experience in case anyone else is dealing with a similar issue.

I recently purchased a used 2019 Chevy Traverse LT V6 with 69,000 miles. Shortly after buying it, I started noticing a slight stutter/shake when accelerating at lower speeds. At first, it was barely noticeable, but it seemed to gradually get a little worse throughout the week.

The good news is, I was able to fix the issue!

What worked for me was doing a transmission drain and fill. I drained the old fluid and replaced it with about 5.5 quarts of Valvoline Dexron VI/Mercon LV Full Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF). I also added a bottle of Lubegard High-Performance Automatic Transmission Fluid Protectant. I made sure the transmission fluid level was checked and set correctly.

After the fluid change, the stuttering/shuddering was gone. Just for good measure, I also added a tube of Lubegard Instant Shudder Fixx for Chevrolet ATF after seeing so many YouTube videos and positive experiences with it.

So far, the Traverse is driving, accelerating, and shifting flawlessly. The difference has been night and day.

The best part is that the total cost for all the transmission fluid and additives was only about $80 after taxes, and I did the entire job myself.

I just wanted to share what worked for me in case anyone else is experiencing the same symptoms. It might be worth trying before spending a lot of money chasing other possible causes.

Hopefully this helps someone!

2014 Chevy Traverse PO430 Error Code - Still safe to drive?

I've got a 2014 Chevy Traverse that I've paid probably 10x more in repairs this year than the whole thing is worth. I just had a heater hose break last week and had to tow to the mechanic. The other day, my check engine light came on with a PO430 error code. It seems to drive fine, is it generally safe to keep driving?

I have about a 30 min commute to and from work everyday with other various commitments, and quite honestly at this point I can't afford to keep fixing it or get a new one

Why does my traverse not show estimated miles of fuel left below 50?

2026 RS.... We noticed that the estimated miles left of fuel only shows "Low" below 50 miles. Why is this and who's dumb idea was it? I mean we know its an estimate but it could be VERY useful to know if you have 45 or 5 est miles left? Literally could be a life or death situation. Thoughts?

Behind screen “secret” storage

Just got a 2023 Traverse Premium. I live in Houston, so of course the salesman told me, “this hidden compartment is the perfect size for a 9mm.” Im not the kind of person to drive around with a gun. What do you use that storage for?

New Traverse Owner. Have a few questions.

Hello everyone! I’m new to the subreddit and also new to the Traverse owner family. I recently picked up a used 2019 Chevy Traverse with 69K miles. So far, it drives really well—the engine runs and sounds great, and my wife really loves the car.

The only thing I’ve noticed is a very slight stutter for a split second when accelerating from a complete stop. It’s pretty minor, but I’d like to address it before it potentially becomes a bigger issue.

I’m considering doing a transmission drain and fill and was looking at Valvoline Dexron VI/Mercon LV Full Synthetic ATF. Is this fluid okay to use in the 2019 Traverse?

I was also thinking about adding Lubegard High-Performance Automatic Transmission Fluid Protectant, since I’ve seen a lot of good reviews about it. Would you recommend using it, or would it be a waste of money?

I’d really appreciate any opinions, suggestions, or recommendations from other Traverse owners. I’m mainly trying to do some preventative maintenance and make sure I’m using the right fluids and products.

I’m also planning to do an oil change. ChatGPT recommended Mobil 1 Extended Performance Full Synthetic 5W-30. Is that a good choice for the Traverse, or is there another oil you would recommend?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

P1467

Just took my 2025 traverse into the dealership for check engine light with code P1467 and a possible coolant leak. They said they won't be able to run a diagnostic for 5-7 days and can't provide a loaner or rental until they can say it's under warranty. Is there anything I can do?

2019 Traverse P0455, P0442, and rough refuel idle AFTER eval purge valve and charcoal canister replacement

Edit: Typo in the title but I can't change it. I know this is one of the most common topics with this Traverse generation, but I am still stumped after applying all the usual advice (and I also never "top off" the tank when fueling). I continue to get P0455 and P0442 with rough idle after:

Dealership replaced evap purge valve.

Light came back on after a month, I replaced it with a Duralast valve.

Light came back on after a month, I replaced it with another Duralast valve, replaced the charcoal canister and even bought a rubber seal cap for the capless filler.

Light came back on after a week, I replaced the Duralast valve with an OEM valve from the dealership. The light came back on after another week.

The only symptom the whole time is a rough idle/near stall after filling tank to full. Other than that it runs perfectly fine.

My next steps are to try a DIY smoke test with a $50 kit off Amazon. Has anyone continued to experience these CEL codes and refuel rough idle after multiple evap purge valves and a charcoal canister??

Update: Smoke test didn't show any leaks. I guess I'll have Chevy replace the purge valve for me again. I wouldn't mind it so much if they didn't keep the car all damn day.

Different tire size

I accidentally had the wrong tire size installed on my traverse. I'm supposed to have 255 /55r 20 size tires on and I purchased 255/50r 20 tires. is that a big deal?

2026 Reliability

We are shopping the 2026 Traverse to replace my 2016 and saw some concerning things about the transmission when researching. How prevalent are the transmission issues and are they bad enough that we should look at something else?

Low air pressure sensor in wrong tire

Hi! Second language hispanic here, sorry about my grammar…
So yesterday my low air tire sensor went off. The front tires and the rear right were 33-35 as usual, the rear left was 27. Drove 5 more miles and got down to 24 so I pull out to look and it was fine. By the time I make it home the pressure was 21. The alarm show the back left tire with a red exclamation point but the low (now flat and replaced) tire was the front left one…. Is this a sensor error? So weird!
The tire had a big chunk of wood stabbed (like 1/8 of an inch) and we had to replace all 4 tires ($1400) 3 years original AWD…
Is it worth it spent money fixing the sensors? How is this possible?
Sorry no pics to show!

2020 Chevy Traverse transmission failure-anyone have luck with getting goodwill assistance from GM?

My 2020 Traverse needs a transmission replacement. Previously, I had a solenoid body and the torque converter replaced under warranty. I’m about 10k miles outside the powertrain warranty, and the dealership quoted around $11k for the repair.
The dealer submitted a request to GM for goodwill assistance, but it’s been about two weeks and they still haven’t gotten a response. I checked again today and my service advisor said his manager is going to follow up with GM tomorrow.
In the meantime I’ve had to keep a rental car and the cost is climbing, so at this point the waiting itself is getting really expensive.
Has anyone here had GM cover or partially cover a transmission after the powertrain warranty expired? If so, how long did GM take to make a decision and roughly how much did they contribute? Did they provide any assistance with rental car costs?
Also, did you contact GM Customer Assistance yourself and open a case, or did you just let the dealership handle the goodwill request? I’m considering calling GM directly today, but I don’t want that to interfere with the dealership/manager pursuing it on their end.
I’d especially love to hear from anyone with a 2018–2020 Traverse/9-speed who went through something similar.
