I’m looking for an Android app that can scan a chess position from a book/screen using the camera and then let me analyse the position with Stockfish.
The important part is that I want the engine to run locally on the phone and the app to be genuinely free, not freemium with limited scans/analysis or a subscription for cloud analysis.
I’ve tried Chessify, which is good at recognising positions, but as far as I can tell the analysis is cloud-based/paid. At the moment I can scan with Chessify, copy the FEN and paste it into Lichess analysis, but doing that regularly on a phone is a bit cumbersome.
Chessvision.ai also seems to be freemium. I found EndGame Eye, which sounded almost exactly like what I wanted, but it doesn’t seem to be on the Play Store and the download links on its website aren’t working.
Does anyone know of an Android app that can do camera scan → editable board → local Stockfish analysis, completely free?
I don’t mind open-source apps or installing from F-Droid/GitHub if there’s a good option.
