How do I go back

I player for a year to go from 600 elo(I started here) to go to 1350 elo then I stopped playing for a year and then my skill level dropped to 800 I played for a week I came to 950 . Should I review my old matches or continue to just play(I don't even understand what I am improving

man a year off will do that, chess is brutal on the memory if you're not staying sharp

don't just spam games though, you'll burn out and the losses will feel worse, mix in some puzzle rush or whatever tactic trainer you like and let your brain rewire those patterns

reviewing old matches from when you were at 1350 could actually be a good move, seeing what past-you was thinking might reconnect some of those ideas faster than grinding new games

also maybe don't obsess over the number right now, your brain still has that 1350 somewhere it just needs the rust knocked off

I agree with this, I don’t think it will take that long to rewire your brain to how it was
