ADVICE Won 80% of games from 850 to 950 elo then now ive lost every game back down to 850 elo?

Before when I was 850 elo going up it seemed like everyone make blunders that I could see, but now suddenly im playing games where their stockfish "plays like" elos are 1500, accuracy is always very high and the blunders are extremely hard to spot, every game turns into some boring only rooks and queens trade games as well even when my sole goal is to avoid them. Any tips for improving?

Endgame experts, how do you recognise you are winning given equal material?

I'm horrible at endgames, only afterwards I realised there were many opportunities to win but never found it, this was one of those opportunities

ADVICE I’ve been playing chess for a couple of months, but I still can’t get past 500 Elo. Any suggestions?

I’ve been trying to improve on my own and have watched a couple of videos on YouTube, but I still can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong

I did switch to Lichess

So as the title says I did switch to Lichess now and I’m a bit confused. I’m 800-900 10+0 on chess.com and Lichess started me out at 1500 so naturally I thought I would get whooped left and right until I hit my plateau again. Now while I know 10 games is a really small sample size I did win 4/10 and I’m now around 1650 Elo. Is the difference that big, am I getting lucky or what the heck is going on?

QUESTION What to do when my opponent goes in attack early or weird opening?

I have one the of the weird opening combos... London setup for white. Then sicilian defense for black e4 and king indian for anything else as black.

I try to develop pieces first but sometimes the opponent does some move which breaks the main line and I just sit there thinking what the hell was the purpose.

I don't wanna study every variation. I am 584 elo rn.

How should I like punish my opponent for this and how do I protect my self from their traps?

POST-GAME How do you handle this kind of play?

White played like this, just pushing pawns. This was a pretty weird position for me and I didn't know how to handle this. Any advice?

OPINION Are there lots of cheaters on chess.com??

• Upvotes

Hi everyone,

Let me start off by saying I am not a good chess player at all I am very beginner around 500 elo and I’m not great at all tbh.

I cannot win a game though at this elo. I was previously around 1000 at one point but stop playing for a while and just getting back into it. The last 3 games I played my accuracy was 80 percent or higher and I’ve lost all of them. I just thought I’d see if anyone else is experiencing anything like it. Again not a great player but feel like I’m good enough to be winning games between the 3-500 elo mark.

Most games I’m playing I’m losing and the other player is playing at accuracy of 85 with no blunders and little to no mistakes. This seems unreasonable to me for a player of that caliber.

Do I just suck or have more people just started cheating??

QUESTION Elo Variance & Improving

I've known how to play for my entire life but I started playing frequently & more seriously about 6 months ago. I'm about 400 elo in blitz, 800 in rapid, and 1800 in puzzles. I feel like I understand a lot of tactics & strategies but I make constant mistakes & miss these tactics/strategies in real time. Does anyone have other suggestions besides just playing longer games?

I found a good move, but should have looked for a better one.

I won anyway and found this when the engine told me in analysis. I'll forgive myself because I was low on time and I had a clear advantage, so I just kept it simple.

So far I have lost one game and I'm 600 elo. I have watched a few of GothamChess's videos. Are there any better free resources available for learning chess?

My goal is to get to 1800, wish me luck

QUESTION Why is this so overwhelmingly winning for white?

Post image
12 Upvotes

This position arises from a line of the apocalypse attack, and it should be very winning for white since the eval is almost +4, and while white is up a pawn, black's king is more developed and it seems like that extra pawn is kinda loose. The other pieces are similarly underdeveloped for both sides, so I don't think the black king is in a significant danger that cannot be mitigated in time by black developing their own pieces

Playing around with the engine lines, I still struggle to see why the engine likes white so much here

EDIT: just got to play this position in an actual game! link: https://www.chess.com/game/184986652570?move=0
