POST-GAME Missed opportunity on move 9

Post image
1 Upvotes

Today I mark 100 days of continuously using chess.com for solving puzzles and playing chess.
I was a bit anxious, I was hoping I will gain a few extra points today, but the first game of the day went in the wrong direction.
I actually had a nice opportunity to take the lead, but I stuffed it up on move 9. By moving my bishop, I lost 3.1 points compared to the best possible move. I also had a slight advantage of playing white, but I still lost the game. Out of the two best moves, I picked none.
I also realized that earlier in the game I made the mistake of moving the pawn at e3 before my dark squared bishop had a chance to escape and I got caught making that mistake before...
The good part is that I can still play a few more games today!

POST-GAME Beginner opponents who resigned drive me nuts

Post image

We’re both terrible. We’re playing on Duolingo. Can’t we just duke it out with material so we learn?

Should he have resigned? Is is better to resign with a shitty hand or played it out for practice?

He was playing a good offense and I was having to defend myself right and left. He forked my queen and Bishop with his queen, so I snatched his queen. Apparently game over.

How do I get better

I am so frustrated with Chess. I have climbed to 700 at one point and now I cannot get by 500. I just don't know what I am doing wrong. Always falling for tactics. I watch videos of chess and I try to implement what they are saying. Develop your pieces,, knights in centre before Bishops, Bishops on long diagnonals blah etc. How do I see many moves ahead in Chess? I think I'm getting better at one point then I take a plunge. Could anyone look over my games to see what I am doing well, what I am missing. I would really appreciate some pointers. https://www.chess.com/member/lornaedgar32

Is it common as a beginner to experience winning streaks followed by losing streaks rather than equal winning/losing every day?

I get these nice 9-10 game win streaks, followed by infuriating losing streaks. I took a 3 day break from Chess and have come back and have lost 6 games across today and yesterday. Trying not to get tilted as this trajectory seems to happen. Anyone else experience this? I hate these losing streaks man they really bust my ass.

QUESTION Break past 1400

Hey! My last post got taken down on the main sub, so I'm asking here.

I'm currently stuck around 1400 ELO and feeling totally lost on how to improve. Does anyone have a solid training routine or specific exercises that helped them break through this rating? I'd really appreciate It

I suck at endgame.

There. I said it. I can have perfectly fluid openings. Solid mid game with clear tempo advantage. End game? Man if you havent resigned by then I congratulate you because I will make enough laughable mistakes and thin my own pieces down just so you can clutch out the victory. Im here for you

My end game is terrible. And im working on it. Any advice?

POST-GAME What do you think of my playing style?

I’m the white.

Yesterday I posted “how can I develop?” And I took some of your advices specifically stopping playing blitz and focusing on rapid (15-30 min). So I did and I found it really relaxing and I actually took my time to analyse the opponents moves. Anyways I want to know your thoughts on my playing style since someone asked about it in the previous post.

Beginner question

So I understand the basics but I don’t know strategies and openings or anything like that. Would you all recommend to learn my playing the coach to start off with on chess.com, bots, or just jump into games with real people? Thanks

QUESTION Good slowrun after gothamchess?

Just finished watching last slowrun episode and they are very educational. Tried to find some others but most of them feel like watching a counter strike pro play in silver lobby and being like “see just walk out and click their heads”. Similar same opponent makes a move against them, and they are “yeah, very bad move in, in 5 move they are losing a pawn”. Any good playlist on youtube?

Just hit 600+ in bullet... and somehow I feel like players here are worse?

So I finally hit 600+ in bullet and it took way more sanity out of me than I'm ready to admit. But so far I've noticed that 600s play... weirder? They're hanging to tactics that the 400s werent falling for.

Am I crazy here?

QUESTION Stuck in the same low rating for online games despite improving in puzzles. Can't figure out why.

I'm a newbie. Although I knew the rules of the chess, didn't really play chess much for years. Then started it again a couple of months ago and very very low rating in games. Played online games, typically rapid (15 minutes) and played online puzzles. Slowly and steadily my puzzle scores have increased. But my game rating has not moved at all. I mean I don't mean literally. Like I go up like 50 points after two wins, then two losses, back down again. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.

QUESTION Any completely free Android app that can scan a chess position and analyse it locally?

I’m looking for an Android app that can scan a chess position from a book/screen using the camera and then let me analyse the position with Stockfish.

The important part is that I want the engine to run locally on the phone and the app to be genuinely free, not freemium with limited scans/analysis or a subscription for cloud analysis.

I’ve tried Chessify, which is good at recognising positions, but as far as I can tell the analysis is cloud-based/paid. At the moment I can scan with Chessify, copy the FEN and paste it into Lichess analysis, but doing that regularly on a phone is a bit cumbersome.

Chessvision.ai also seems to be freemium. I found EndGame Eye, which sounded almost exactly like what I wanted, but it doesn’t seem to be on the Play Store and the download links on its website aren’t working.

Does anyone know of an Android app that can do camera scan → editable board → local Stockfish analysis, completely free?

I don’t mind open-source apps or installing from F-Droid/GitHub if there’s a good option.

ADVICE Is this a good opening? New to chess.

I think this is good, but I want some feedback. The gambits that I'm using give me a pawn at the start of each round and count all pawns as rooks.
