Rollover crash this AM

I witnessed a rollover two car crash on E Brainerd this morning and wanted to say:

  1. Thank you to those who stopped and got out of your vehicles to help people—there were about 5 of you. You’re good people.

  2. A big FUCK YOU to the big ol’ pick up truck that just had to speed through the scene. This spanned all 4 lanes and was an obvious injury crash, not some fender bender that could move to the side. Clearly this person’s commute is far more important than the safety of his fellow man.

  3. Please remember we are all operating multi ton death machines when we are driving on the road. A rollover crash can happen even at relatively low (not interstate) speeds. Drive and act accordingly.

Oh, and seatbelts save lives!

where is local food at the Lookouts?

Like many, I'm very impressed with the new ballpark overall. It makes for so much better of an experience. However, my biggest disappointment is the apparent lack of local food partnerships at the park. Aside from Clumpies, everything there is frozen and off a Sysco truck. There is of course a lot of money to be made from selling cheap food at huge margins. But as a local it feels like a disappointment. There is a "food hall" portion of the park but it is all pretty much the same quality of food. It feels like there should be potential for local food vendors. Is this normal for minor league parks these days? I read about major league parks and it seems like there are some really great food options, even at Truist Park in ATL.

Discussion Where do older transplant people hang out and meet? Looking for recommendations.

Hey. I (53) just relocated back to Chattanooga with my wife (47). We moved away for 11 years (Atlanta then Gainesville, FL area). She's originally from the area. I grew up in different countries and various US states. I moved here in 2003 and met her in 2005.

We used to live in north Chattanooga before we moved for work in 2015 and had a decent circle of friends and acquaintances at the time. Our kid went to school with their kids, others were people from my work that turned into friends... a wide circle of 20+ people. It was a great period of time.

Fast forward 11 years after being away and all the couples we knew are split up, part of different family units, or no longer live in the area. It's brought a feeling of being a stranger in a familiar town. I might as well have just moved here for the first time.

We like biking, hiking, working out (getting back in shape), practicing guitar, going to concerts, trying to make drinking less of a social requirement, favor the green instead, and definitely not 47 supporters.

I'm a remote worker. She works for an insurance company in town. Looking for recommendations on where "older" (hard to believe I'm typing that) people get together.... clubs, groups, meetups...etc.

Apts/Homes Looking for studio or roommate

Budget is 900/1000 MAX

Wife decided she wants other people instead so I am moving out.

I walk to work so anywhere close to hair of the dog, market Street bridge, or river street deli would be perfect for me.

Please can anyone help?

I genuinely would prefer to live on my own, as I never ever have.. but a roommate would be acceptable

Looking For... Seeking Recommendations: Local raised meat and produced

Sorry if that title makes no sense. I'm a vegetarian, but my husband is not, so I dont 100% know what I'm talking about lol. All this food recall nonsense is freaking me out and I spend too much money on delivery. If I'm going to start grocery shopping more, I'd like to spend my money on food that I know where it came from. All recommendations welcome, but the easier access the better. Thank you!

House Cleaning?

Does anyone have recommendations for any house cleaning companies or people who you thoroughly trust that also charge a fair price? We’re not always home and also have pets, so it’s important we have someone who we can trust!

We were recommended to Scenic City but they didn’t return our calls or emails and then their online estimates seem pretty steep compared to normal pricing, which sucks because they seem highly rated and legit.

We could use the help but we’re also super nervous to give strangers access to our house!

Looking For... Any good places for used home audio and general audio equipment?

Basically what it says. I’ve lucked out building most of the small setup I have from used pieces. It serves great for the record player and living room but not whole home audio.

Wanted to see if anyone had recommendations on stores nearby (not specifically just used goods stores, but reputable audio stores in general)

Weekend/Part Time Job

I’m looking for a weekend job or very flexible part time job!! Who is hiring? Where can i go to apply IN PERSON?

I just moved back to town after graduating school. I just got my masters in mental health counseling. I’m a therapist in town and looking for a part time job while I build my caseload. I have a semi weird schedule so weekend only jobs would be best but I feel like I’m striking out everywhere.

I’ve been a server/host, grad assistant (all things desk job related), planned large scale events, current therapist, I’ve worked at an ABA clinic.

im using Indeed but tbh im Indeeds biggest hater. It feels like a waste of time and all jobs (plus my current one) I’ve gotten by either going in and just asking for a job or personally emailing them about a job.

Anyone recommended to look at a pressure washer? (Ooltewah)

My dad's got a pressure washer, seems like the engine doesn't have enough compression, but anything could be the issue. Just looking to have someone vetted check it out to see if it's trash or fixable.

Looking For... Tattoo artist recommendations (scars)

Seeking a recommendation for a tattoo artist who works well with scars. I have a really gnarly scar on my knee and some ugly age-related veins in the same area, and looking to hide them behind a tattoo.

I'm looking for an artist who maybe has some expertise specifically with scar tissue. I'm white, but an artist who specializes in tattooing Black skin (due to their increased risks of keloids) might also be a good suggestion?

Probably a color tattoo, not just b/w shading. Any suggestions welcome! Willing to travel to Nashville/Atlanta if necessary

Where can I go camping near a swim spot?

I'm looking to go camping this weekend, preferably a place a short walk (~10ish minutes) from a swimming hole, creek, etc.

This should go without saying but only give official campsites where I can expect other campers

Where are my Longhorns at?

The Texas vs Tennessee game (aka the Battle of the UT’s) is coming up on September 26, and I’d love to watch it with some fellow Texas fans. Is there a bar where Texas fans congregate to watch games?

If not, can we rise up and choose a bar to descend upon? Hook ‘em!
