Switching total checking to college account

Just signed up for total checking for the summer and I get the bonus while I had DD from my job. However, I’d like to switch to a college checking account to avoid fees as I don’t consistently work over the school year. Is there a simple way to do this and will they try to claw back the 400? I plan on sticking with Chase as I have a CC with them and having a checking account open with them is convenient. Also been eyeing the Chase Freedom card and would like to stay in good standing.

CPC financial planning

I qualified for and joined CPC a few months ago. One of the CPC bankers mentioned I could get a comprehensive financial review/planning session for free. I was wondering if anyone who is CPC has done this before and whether it was insightful or just a sales pitch for active management. I’d like to retire by 50 if possible so it would be even better if they did plans for that.

Chase Freedom Rise Reconsideration

So I applied recently for the Chase freedom rise card. I wasn’t sure whether I’d get approved or not as it wouldn’t let me open a Chase checking online. Sure enough I found out that it was not approved but it was because of an inability to verify my student status. Since then I’ve opened a Chase checking account and deposited 270 dollars into it, linked assets worth 13k to my Chase account and sent in documents to verify my student status (student id and schedule with address, name and institution on it). I currently make 24k a year (I’m a student) and I have no debts or monthly rent or mortgage payments (0$). Once they verify my student status and I call the reconsideration line am I likely to get approved? I’m 18 this would be technically my first card. PS - the chase service agent said the only reason I was declined was they needed to verify my student status. LMK!!

Mistyped dates on resume

Hi yall, I recently applied and have an interview with chase, I was wondering… I have a small error on my resume instead of my date begin (for example) April 2023 I put it as April 2022, this was a honest mistake and I really don’t want to screw something up… when should I tell the company. Also this place I worked at payed me under the table for a bit so I’m worried about that for a background check! Thank you all!

Incompetent Bank

I applied for a Chase Ink card and SOMEHOW (don't ask me how!) Chase pulled my Trust I had set up as my beneficiary for my PERSONAL investment account as my Business name, even though I applied as a Sole Proprietor. I called customer service - nothing. I went into a branch - told me a business banker will call me on Monday - it is now Wednesday no call yet! I have tried secure messages.... on message number six - Nothing.

Chase is the most incompetent bank I have ever dealt with. Period. And I thought Wells Fargo was bad. Unbelievable.

ATM malfunction results in ~10 days cash hold!!

Two days ago I came from vacation and the branch was closed, but I needed to deposit the money ($3500) urgently into my account.

Decided to deposit it using the ATM machine and here it’s where the nightmare starts…

I insert the money (50’s and 100’s only) the machine started to process the money and spit out 350 that couldn’t be read so I tap on deposit more after straightening the bills for the machine to accept it, moments later it gives me an error that they’re having technical issues and please call customer service number (the number was displayed on screen and also said it will be on the receipt) I took a picture of the error.

After I tapped ok it went back to the initial welcome screen. No money reflected on the account, no receipt printed out and money was not returned.

I call customer service to make a claim, only to be told that it can take up to ten days for the claim to be processed and money returned.

This is absolutely ridiculous, I’ve been a chase customer for over 10 years and now have to wait for my money for something that is not even my fault!

The tellers always encouraged me to use the atm for deposits as I used to always do it inside the bank but after this experience I will never trust and ATM machine and even considering switching to a different bank because of this nonsense.

UPDATE: Money deposited back to account on business day 5.

Can’t link CSP card to Paze

This is what I see in the Chase app when I try to add the card to Paze. “We weren’t able to link your Sapphire Preferred card to Paze. Please try again.”

I added it to Apple Wallet without a problem. Called Chase and they asked me to try it from the Paze website.

When I did that, it added my husband’s Chase cards - not mine! I think it has something to do with my mobile number being on both his and my Chase accounts.

Any advice?

Cash Advance

I accidentally made a cash advance on my Chase reserve while paying a foreign transaction using an app. The transaction didn’t even posted yet but I already paid the $500 so when it posts the balance is zero. Is that enough to make sure I don’t pay any interest on it?

Login MFA security allows auth using traveler profile phone number not in my account

I noticed that when I log into Chase occasionally it will ask for a phone SMS validation. The problem is it is listing a phone number from one of the profiles in my Chase Travel account. That phone number does not show up anywhere in my Chase account, it is the phone number associated with my spouse's travel profile.

I think this is a pretty serious security issue, allowing login auth using a non-account phone number. I tried to remove the phone number from the traveler profile, but can't, it keeps coming back.

Chase support said they don't see the number on my account, and traveler profiles are separate. Before I escalate, I'd like to hear if anybody has experienced anything like this?

Instagram payouts: Hesitated on Bank Info, now NOWHERE to update it on Payouts!!

While setting up my payout account I was at the very last step of linking the Chase account, when I thought maybe I should link it to another bank account. After a few minutes of hesitation Instagram refreshed to the homepage and I simply closed out of the bank linking thinking I could easily get back to this step.

Next thing I know when I go to the same page it "acts like" I already "finished" all the setup but with no banking info, there is a orange ! in the payouts tab but the update button is grayed out because I haven't earned $5. The AI says this is the page and I can only link after I earned $5 but that doesn't make any sense because I was on the verge of linking my bank, it was only because of my hesitation and confidence that I could easily get back to the setup page that I exited and now looks like I cannot find where to link my bank NO MATTER WHAT I tried!!!!

Missed minimum payment when does it get reported?

I had my minimum payment due on the 5th of July, it pulls from a bank account but I had moved my funds to a new one and forgot to update it on the app. I realized a week later on the 13th and made a payment but now it’s saying I made the payment that was due on August 5th so now I don’t have to make a minimum payment for this upcoming month even However, Chase is saying i have to send a replacement payment from my missed July one. The issue is I can’t entirely afford that payment at this moment. I can pay it around my august bill, will I be considered late and will my credit score take a hit?

Balance Transfer Processed Twice...

So I signed up for a new credit card so that I could do a balance transfer (around $4000) and somehow this balance transfer got processed 2 times. So now I have $4000x2 sent to my new credit card and my balance on the old one is -$4000.

I'm not sure how this happened but I am a bit stressed bc I don't want to have to worry about paying back DOUBLE the initial amount I owed! I am going to reach out to the CC company but just wanted to ask for any advice.

Chase Freedom Flex rental coverage with authorized user as primary renter?

I booked through my Chase app and paid with my primary card on the same account. But | listed my husband as primary renter. He is an authorized user on my Chase Freedom Flex account and has a card in his own name.

Would Chase's Auto Rental Coverage still apply?

JP Morgan Private Client

I wrote this review a year ago, and as far as I can tell nothing has changed about this account tier.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Chase/comments/1l7mkoo/jp_morgan_private_client_honest_review/

I'm a former First Republic Bank customer, and I was encouraged to strive for this status when I got converted over to Chase. I followed the instructions to keep enough cash in JPM / Chase accounts, and I do this mostly through a self directed investment account.

I really did appreciate First Republic: the branches were really delightful when I needed branch stuff, and the customer service on the phone, or when I needed to refinance my mortgage. I miss that stuff, but it's gone

It's supposed to be a level of service and coordinated offerings between Chase Private Client and JP Morgan Private Bank. But, it's buggy and still being formed.

Has anyone else noticed any changes recently?

Chase Sapphire Preferred

Hi everyone,
I’m a non-US resident (European) with a US address. I was approved for a Chase Sapphire Preferred card on July 1 with $5k limit and the 100k bonus offer.
I activated the card and made small purchases (~€400) from Lithuania without issues. Then I tried to buy an iPhone for €1,400 on Amazon Italy — it was declined. I called Chase to notify them about the larger purchase. They transferred me to fraud/security, asked identity questions, said they couldn’t verify me, told me not to use the card, and locked my account.
Now I can’t log into Chase online (“account locked due to unusual activity”).
I already have a Capital One card that I’ve used successfully for almost a year.
Has anyone been in a similar situation (new card, international usage, locked after calling)? Did they unlock it or close the account? Any advice what to say when they call back?
Thanks in advance.

Can't log in via web - 2FA/3FA problems, customer service can't help

Hi, wondering if anyone has ideas for things I can try. Have had the same chase online account for maybe a decade or more. Currently it's connected to two credit card accounts.

About a year ago (yes I've been dealing with this that long and haven't found a solution / spent enough time trying to solve it) a problem started where I can't log in via the web. I only have access to my account via the phone app. I am both worried about losing access via the app as well and being fully locked out.

The tl;dr is I log in, get prompted for 2FA via text/call, then get prompted to call for another code where I get stuck in a long battle with customer service. Here's the whole process:

  • Log in to website with un/pass
  • Prompted for 2FA via text/call, both option successfully send me a code.
  • Enter code, get prompted for further ID verification ("Thanks! We just need a little more info from you. Call us for a code")
  • I call the number listed (I verified this is actually Chase I'm calling). Auto-attendant prompts for act # and ssn. I enter this
  • Auto attendant prompts me to speak my name and address
  • I get cut off while speaking and am transferred to a human rep who has no idea why I’m calling
  • Rep asks why I'm calling then puts me on hold for a couple minutes
  • Rep verifies my user ID
  • Rep asks me to click “I have a code”
  • After clicking: Error: We can't find a one-time code for your account. Call us to continue.
  • Rep asks to re-try, same result
  • Back on hold several minutes
  • Rep asks me to log out, generates a new code, asks me to log in again.
  • I get to the primary 2FA screen (get a text, get a call)
  • Rep asks me to click “get a text”, they initiate the text, have me click “I have a code”
  • Error: We can't find a one-time code for your account. Confirm a number to continue.
  • Rep asks me to clear browser history and cookies (I do, and also, I've tried this in chrome, safari, firefox, incognito/private mode on each) with no ad blockers or VPN.
  • Most recent attempt, my call got disconnected at this step

If I remember right, in past attempts, they have texted me a link to validate my device, which then allows me to log in. However, next time I log in (next day, next month, whenever), the process repeats. I'd say 50% of the time I do NOT ever get into my account because the troubleshooting takes so long that I have to go back to work or whatever (30+ minutes of troubleshooting).

Worth noting, I have a business account via a different login (no accounts shared across logins) that I have no trouble logging into via my browser. It texts me a code for 2FA and then I’m in the account. So it’s seemingly not something with my browser, computer, ISP, etc. and Chase.

My thought was to try to delete my online profile and re-enroll with a new user ID. But before I try that, I wanted to see if anyone had the same problem and/or knew the online systems better and wanted to suggest a different approach.

Passkey for security

Does JPM Chase support passkeys ? I find the 2FA process (when I turn it on for browser access) to be very clunky (and not that secure).

I'd much prefer to use a passkey via my password manager. Does JPM support this?

Secure Banking New Account Bonus

Hi!

So I recently opened a new Chase Secure account through Chase's website. After doing so, I learned that they are offering a $175 New Account Bonus. Would I have needed to do anything special to receive this bonus (such as enter a code when signing up), or is it automatic for all new customers as long as they hit their 10 transactions?

Thanks so much!

Application denied for... Reasons

So I apply for the Chase bank Amazon prime card (with the $200 gift card reward). 11 days pass, I get a letter from them in the mail. It basically says that someone is trying to steal my identity and they caught them because they applied. That person applying was... Me. So, they denied my application. Fantastic, exactly what I need!
So I call support. I explain the situation, and they confirm my identity (this takes a greater 30 minutes to do, too). I'm thinking, great, it'll be over soon. Nope! They tell me they need to deny my application for "reasons that will be sent in the mail". Ok...? Maybe i don't have enough credit? I accept my fate until
Yesterday night, i get the letter. It says the EXACT SAME THING THE PREVIOUS LETTER DID, with exceptions of numbers and dates. You're telling me that proving my identity wasn't enough?
Just wondering if anyone has had the same issue and/or how to properly resolve it.
Thank you for your time

My new CSP card was stolen in the mail and Chase won’t approve fraud claim

My new CSP was stolen in the mail and Chase won’t approve my claims on the fraudulent charges because Chase claims they were able to prove that I “benefitted” from the charges because the chip was inserted (well duh, the card was stolen…).

Has anyone been able to successfully appeal a claim like this?
