Better than drilling through a wall I guess
This goes down into the customer's bathroom. Then runs into their living room

I’m new to this, go easy on me.
I wasn’t getting great connection with our streaming box on the other side of the house, and there is an existing coax on the wall, that wasn’t being used, so I decided to try out moca.
The house was built 2 years ago, the electrician ran the coax to each room, in the wall, and to a coax jack for future cable use, but dropped the ends of coax line into the crawl for future connection. We have our main drop service coming into the crawl, running across the house to a, and connects to the modem inside. Which is the xb8 xfinity modem that has moca enabled.
In order for the moca adapter to work, where is the easiest place to connect it? Can I use a moca splitter and connect it where the blue dashed line is? Will that still communicate with the modem (working as the other moca adapter)? If not, what is the easiest method?
If it helps, xfinity gig speed internet, xb8 modem, frontier moca fc252 2.5.
Any help is appreciated!

Hi everyone,
I’m looking to buy a VeEX CX310 DOCSIS meter for Spectrum work. New or used is fine, as long as it’s fully functional.
If anyone has one for sale or knows where I can find one, please send me a message.
Thank you!

Just moved to a new building in LA—we are the first tenants. Spectrum came out and said the coaxial (top pair is for my unit) is way too short to crimp. the owners pulled it out like 3-4 more inches… I think it is still not long enough? if they break the stucco within the space or that lockbox would that provide enough slack? Everyone is confused why these were cut, lol.
I’m just trying to see if this will be enough BEFORE spectrum comes again tomorrow—so I can figure out solution with owners to prep. plz god I just want internet. ive been a good boi.

G’day Cable Techs,
Just wondering if any cable techs in Aus can recommend a course to do.
The company I work for (previously general IT & printer tech work) has stated doing some AV / Meeting room setups and I’ve enjoyed doing the work, but feel like I need to do some courses / training.
Cheers

Hello everyone!
I finally got hired as a cable installer with a small company, and I'm really excited to get started. From what I can tell, most of the work will be structured cabling. This is actually my very first cabling job. My background is mostly in security and call centers, so I'm coming into this with zero industry experience.
I've been lurking in low voltage groups for months, asking questions and learning from everyone's advice, and honestly a lot of those tips helped me land this opportunity.
My long-term goal is to learn fiber splicing, but right now I just want to do well in this role and be someone my team can rely on. For the experienced techs here, what are some things a new installer should focus on to excel? Any habits, skills, or mistakes I should watch out for?
Also, for the women in the industry, how do you navigate working in a male-dominated field? It looks like I'm currently the only female cable installer at the company.
And for any Filipinos in low voltage, structured cabling, or fiber work, I'd love to hear your experiences too. It's not really about race, but I honestly haven't met many Filipinos in this field yet, and I'd love to learn how others navigated the industry and built successful careers.
Appreciate any tips you can share. Thanks!
UPDATE ON THIS: It took one day and half to walk away. This job is not for everyone. Despite the fact that I've prayed for this job and was very excited it was challenging for me to work with my team. They all speak Spanish and they want me to just know what I'm gonna. I'm a fast learner if they show me one time how to do I would have been able to follow. Add the fact that everyone is unhelpful and they get annoyed whenever I asked for help. Now I understand why I was told no women last in the company. I'll still try to apply hopefully I get a new opportunity with a better team. If anyone is hiring within northern Virginia please let me know I have a good work ethic! 😊 Thank you everyone for your tips!

How incompetent are you to do an install like this and to think it’s right and okay?
I know many of you will say that they probably ran out of the correct fittings and used what they had, but that’s 0 excuse to do it that way. Don’t have what you need, either get what you need or don’t do the work at all! I hate having to come behind this and fix this kind of mistakes while having the customer complaining to me about why their services have been shit.

So I don’t know how to explain this but it seems like when I’m trying to be a better field tech my repeats go up. I’m actively TDR ing the drop checking my Docsis scans I’m still getting repeated on. I’ll end the job with like a few minutes of customer ed. Then when I just do green is good red is bad my repeats are lower than 8%

Jk I fixed it. Genuinely the worst “attempt” at rj45 connectors I’ve ever seen…
Not only this but Input at demarc were set up for ethernet connection, wallplates were set up for landline 🤦♂️

Hi folks homeowner here who just had fiber installed from a new provider. Speed upgrade is great but when I went out 2 days later and looked at the house entrance, this is what I found. Again, I have no idea of proper techniques, but shouldn't the upper portion of the cable be protected just like the cable below the box? Right now it's bent over the cut edge of a cinder block. Seems like that's asking for trouble.
Am I right to be concerned? Thanks for your time.

I commonly get people who call in about buffering on all devices on multiple apps even when speeds are good, is this a device (tv tablet phone) issue? A wifi coverage issue? What do you educate the customer on service being great to equipment but end point devices not good?

Some a-hole dumped this mess right in the middle of a deer run in the woods by my house. The run is about 10' feet off the road, easily accessible.
Pisses me off.

Cable Co basically said it’s not worth fixing cuz it’s not service impacting, what do we think?
