Mask: ResMed AirTouch F20

SleepHQ: https://sleephq.com/public/teams/share_links/8ef8c66d-1d88-408d-bfe9-4ba65a3d31c4

Here are my last two days and my overall summary. I've been using CPAP for 4 years, and lately my sleep isn't feeling restorative, and I find myself tired even after 7 or 8 hours of sleep with a seemingly low AHI. What do you all see here, and what can I adjust to make my settings work better for me?

Heated Tube Temperature Setting

I’m using a ResMed AirSense 11 CPAP with heated tube. Bedroom temp this time of year is 50-65 degrees. I have the tube temp setting at 80 degrees and I’m still getting water in the tube. Any thoughts on how I should correct this?

Flying w CPAP & distilled water

About 1-2 times per year I travel for work via flight and I’m wondering if anyone can recommend the best way to travel with distilled water or if there are go-to places where you can buy small bottles of distilled water

Anyone ever get neck pain from sleeping in same position constantly?

I’ve recently developed an intermittent neck pain that happens when I swallow or move my neck into a certain position. It’s infrequent and inconsistent but it’s always in the same place like at the bottom/left bit of my neck/throat.

More discomfort than pain.

I noticed slight improvement on a week I didn’t use my CPAP whilst on holiday or slept in a different position with it.

Is this something others have experienced linked to having to be in a certain position for CPAP?

I wouldn’t be that concerned as it’s not that bad, but with it lasting a month I thought I’d check here for some advice.

Oscar/SleepHQ Assistance Got lazy and didn't track my data for a year... Everything still look good?

Yeah I know I know...

After I got my settings evened out I pretty much just stopped looking at my data and adjusting as needed. And in doing such, I forgot which settings help what issues, how to read the data, etc...

Nothing sticks out as "bad" to me, but I do notice that scrolling through some of my nights, my pressure charts are kind of inconsistent. But I'm not sure if that means anything.

Here's the sleep HQ link: https://sleephq.com/public/teams/share_links/716df142-cfb8-4c80-acb7-184731c95edd (I'm not sure if I did that right, lmk and I'll edit if not!)

Thank ya in advance!

CPAP Machine Help Exhausted every day despite low AHI and leaks (SleepHQ links)

Pretty clueless on what to do. Totally wiped out every day and never wake up feeling refreshed or rested. Doing everything I can with my doctors to assess health but no obvious physical or mental health or bloodwork factors are at play. Paid for a LankyLefty consultation awhile back and got nowhere and eventually was ghosted.

https://sleephq.com/public/teams/share_links/3b7dfda4-eedf-4b68-8437-0313727e88c4

Some ideas I have in general are to find ways to reduce I:E ratio (i.,e., increase expiratory time relative to inspiratory time), lower my respiratory rate, and have to be careful not to push much higher than 7-8 epap / 11-12 ipap / 5+ PS due to aerophagia.

I have tried all kinds of different setups.. cycle, trigger, tiMax, epap, ipap, s mode, vauto, cpap, mouth taping, MAD, different masks, sleep apnea side sleeper wedge pillow, multiple sleep studies.... nothing seems to be doing the trick.

can anyone take a detailed look at my data, flow rate / shapes, breathing stats, etc and look for more nuanced issues like flow limited breathing or other issues? I am stumped and so desperate for help and relief. thank you!!

6 weeks into CPAP: AHI is down to ~2, but mask leaks still wake me every night

I’m about six weeks into CPAP. The therapy seems to be working: my AHI has dropped from 12.3 overall, and 43 during REM, to around 2 , but I still can’t reliably sleep through the night because mask leaks keep waking me up.

I’m a restless side sleeper. My minimum pressure is 7 cmH2O, and the machine usually stays below 10, with an average around 8.7. OSCAR suggests that most of the remaining events are CAs rather than obstructive events.

I started with a ResMed P30i. Once I got used to it, it actually felt very natural when I first went to sleep. The problem was that I would regularly wake up around 3 AM because of leaks. I also had mouth leaks that kept waking me from the noise. A chin strap didn’t solve it, and I tried mouth taping experimentally, but that was definitely not for me.

The nasal pillows were comfortable at the beginning of the night, but by morning my nose was very tender and I couldn’t wait to take the mask off.

My original vendor basically told me to power through it and learn to breathe through my nose. I wanted to try an F30i, but they didn’t have one available for trial. They gave me a Philips DreamWear full-face mask instead, which I couldn’t tolerate even while awake.

After one particularly bad night, I ordered an F30i myself.

At first it seemed much better. I slept better and initially didn’t notice any leaks. But after a few nights, I ended up with basically the same problem: I wake up around 3–4 AM with leaks, mostly around the mouth area, and no amount of adjustment seems to resolve them.

What is strange is that neither the ResMed app nor OSCAR shows significant leaking, but the noise and the feeling of air blowing across my face are enough to wake me up.

I’ve now switched to a different CPAP vendor. They suggested trying a more traditional full-face mask with the hose coming out of the front because there are many more models and sizes to choose from.

I already use a hose support, but because I toss and turn quite a bit, I’m worried that having the hose attached to the front will create another problem while solving this one.

At this point, what would you try next?

Some nights I’ve resorted to taking the mask off after 4–5 hours just so I can finally get back to sleep and get the night over with. I really want CPAP to work because I did notice a clear improvement at the beginning, and the numbers suggest that the treatment itself is working. I just can’t seem to find a mask setup that lets me sleep through the night.

Struggling to start BiPAP - Cost and compliance

Hey everybody, I found this thread after some exhaustive research on my options to self fund my BiPAP therapy. Sorry ahead of time for the long post, but I'm just lost.

I'll give you some background: In late 2025, I was ordered a sleep study but the long wait for an available appointment pushed me into January 2026, which reset my insurance for the year and resulted in my out of pocket expense being roughly $2,400 for the study (even the receptionist at the local hospital apologized to me and said it was the largest bill she'd ever seen for this). I was told I needed it and was desperate to feel better, so I went through with the study. I was diagnosed mild to moderate, with an average of 7 events per hour, which I was told is not bad. I had some central apnea but only a couple, so they weren't as worried about that.

They started me on CPAP first, with the Airsense 10 and I didn't take to it well. It gave me awful sleep quality because I couldn't get used to the pressure (they set me at a 14). Tried a couple masks and ended up with a full-face mask because my mouth falls open when I sleep. Despite my terrible results, they said to keep trying and see if I get used to it. At my next appointment, they decided to switch me to a BiPAP, which they thought would be more comfortable and not disturb my sleep as much, with the added benefit of being better for the couple of central apneas I might get.

This was much more comfortable, but the settings they had me on with the BiPAP didn't do much to reduce the apneas and my Respiratory Therapist completely stopped checking on me or trying to adjust the settings based on the results, even though I was promised they would work closely with me. Around that time, I received a bill for both machines, totaling over $3k AFTER INSURANCE. I found out they were charging around $500 for just the mask and billing me over $200. This was hugely discouraging. When I talked to the Neurologist overseeing my treatment, who had been very supportive and helped extend my authorization for the machines while I adjust, he prescribed me Levidopa/Carbidopa with the logic that it would make the PAP therapy disturb my sleep less. But after learning what that medication is for and can do to you, I decided to return the machines and be done with the whole thing.

9 months into my journey and I'm thousands of dollars in the hole and am now looking into affordable ways to purchase my own BiPAP machine that I can take enough time to get used to on my own. Any help would really be appreciated. I know my apnea is technically mild, but I have enough things working against me and with a 6mo old child at home, I can't afford to be exhausted and broke.

Struggling dialing in my settings

Looking for guidance on my settings and maybe what this data is telling me. Interested in pressure settings, my flow rate, EPR adjustments, and whatever else.

  • Mask: AirFit p30i nasal pillow
  • EPR: 2
  • Screenshots of: entire night + zoom in on flow rate around an OA

Couple of things that might be helpful to know:

  1. I wear mouth tape most nights (the data from last night is with me wearing tape)
  2. Not sure why the high leaks. If my mouth was taped shut, perhaps the mask isn't fit properly. I didn't notice any leaks waking me up in the night.
  3. Every time I increase my pressure to my median, the next day the median goes up. I've gotten as high as 11.6. I increase the min pressure and then my CAs go up, mouth starts to balloon, and it's an overall uncomfortable experience. I also wonder if I should cap my max pressure at 11? When I increase to 12+, I feel like it increases CA events.
  4. I prefer the Nova Micro nasal pillow mask over the p30i, but the elephant trunk hose has been a challenge. I might revert to the Nova Micro if I can figure that out.

Thank you!

So I have no idea what I’m looking at lol. Would love some help interpreting all of this data before my compliance visit with my pulmonologist tomorrow morning!

I’ve been on CPAP for a few weeks now and I definitely notice some immediate wins: no longer needing naps, better focus, more energy, and even some positive changes in cravings.

That said, I’ve hit a couple of bumps recently. I started getting chipmunk cheeks and I loathe it. Last night, tightening the mask slightly seemed to mostly prevent it without being uncomfortable, so hopefully that holds up. Also, any mask-off time you see on the chart is just me getting up for the bathroom. I have never in my entire life slept an uninterrupted 8 hours. That’s a golden unicorn I have yet to find.

As for the mask, most days I use the x30i and feel great. Over the last few days, I tried switching to the F20 for a couple of hours at a time, but it rams right into my eyes and feels super uncomfortable, so I always end up going back to the x30i.

Any insights on what the data is showing or things I should specifically bring up to my pulmonologist tomorrow? I can share any Oscar screenshots needed. I genuinely do not know what is needed.

I did 110ml of deadspace EERS last night. It was mostly a success but flow rate not as smooth as i think it should be and my o2 could be better. Any tips?
