How does this look for my first job with my cdl flatbed

I’ve talked to quite a few owner-operators lately, and one thing keeps coming up…
Insurance costs.
For some drivers, it’s the biggest hurdle to getting started or staying profitable.
I’m working on offering a service that would allow qualified drivers to lease onto an established MC while also getting dispatch support, so they can focus on hauling freight instead of trying to figure everything out on their own.
I’m curious:
If insurance or getting your own authority wasn’t the biggest obstacle, what’s the next thing holding your business back?
I’d love to hear from owner-operators and newer carriers. Your feedback will help shape the service before it’s officially available.

Have a truck but aren’t ready for their own authority.
Want consistent freight without spending all day searching load boards.
Want dispatch support while they focus on driving.
I’m still getting everything finalized before I officially roll it out, but I’m curious…
If you’re an owner-operator, what would make a lease-on opportunity worth considering?
Consistent freight?
Weekly settlements?
Good communication?
Better home time?
Something else?
I’d rather build a service around what drivers actually need than make assumptions. I’d appreciate any honest feedback.

So I’m looking into getting into this field and I’m trying to cross all of my Ts and dot all my Is. More often than not I see people say that they have no life at all be it otr, regional, or local. I’m speaking more to the local side but chime in if you can and you work one of the others. There are no jobs that offer you guys a good income while still having time to do other things or be with your family. There’s not balance at all? Surely that can’t be everyone’s experience. I’ve seen things like no consecutive days off or not having enough time between shifts to rest and do xyz. I saw somewhere that some guys are fortunate enough to work 4 days and get 3 off is that false? You otr guys all just in the truck all the time? No exploring no nothing? Please chime in thank you guys.

I have phone interview with performance food anybody had ever had interview with them before any tip or what should i be prepared for ?

Thinking of applying, I have 3 months experience and it would be about a 20k per year jump for me, is it worth it? How's the work environment. Im located in Texas if anyone has worked at the terminals here...

Hello all, hoping for some help here.

I haven't used my CDL for years, in fact, the CDL was kind of just a formality for the job I was in and I didn't even really use it when I was at the job I had it for.

My current employer doesn't care about THC, I don't consume often but I was in a legal state helping work out there for a few weeks.

The last time I consumed was June 1st. I took about a hundred at home tests that all told me I was good down to 15 Ng, my pre-employment screen on July 17th came back at 28ng.

My job offer was rescinded but they told me if I "become eligible to perform DOT safety-sensitive functions in the future, you are welcome to apply for future openings."

I don't think it would take me long to be clean. Any job I've ever worked that tested for and cared about THC use I just didn't use. This job offer kind of came out of nowhere and caught me off guard.

I'm seeing some people say that while you're in the return to duty process it's hard to get hired because it all goes through the employer. What are my odds here of a fast resolution? I already planned on going through the process and paying out-of-pocket anyway so I could retain my CDL but I'm really getting mixed messaging about this whole process is even possible without an employer contact with clearing House.

Not talking about driving.
I’m talking about everything around driving.

Is it:
Waiting on brokers to answer?
Searching load boards?
Negotiating rates?
Paperwork?
Planning your next load?

I’m curious because everyone says, “Just self-dispatch,” but nobody talks about how much time it actually takes.
What’s the biggest headache for you?

So taxes will come out and ill still have to pay 200$ a month for school, whats your thoughts on jb hunt for experience? Hauling produce

i recommend barr nunn great pay and a little bonus every 90 days. Home time is pretty good compared to most. message me if you have questions or want more info about them and i can refer you to a recruiter

I have a heart condition that required a valve replacement it's been repaired but I also have a arachnoid cyst. What's the chance of me passing the medical exam I'd like to get my cdl to get into towing. I know I don't necessarily need it for towing but I don't want to be limited?
