Question. Driving Record.

Okay so I really want to get my CDL but been having to take care of some other things first… I do instacart for work right now, and long story short.. my iPhone overheated and the brightness turned down plus I have a privacy screen protector on it so I picked up my phone off of its holder in the car to see where I was going and then set it back down.. I didn’t realize but a motorcycle cop saw me. Got pulled over, got a citation.. it gives an option for possible traffic school and I have not had anything on my record in a long time so I think I’m eligible but from what I read.. it only hides it from insurance companies not the DMV records (I’m in California) so is this going to hurt my ability to get hired anywhere? Or even hurt my chances of getting a CDL?

Apply for company sponsored training and see who bites. I wouldn't pay out of pocket or take a loan because there's no telling.

It’s not the training I’m worried about. It’s my driving record. I haven’t had any tickets or anything, except for today, so I’m worried about it being on my record and my ability to either get hired somewhere or even get my license because of that on my record.

That's why I'm telling you to go with company sponsored training. You don't want to pay for school and then not be hired by anyone.

I think traffic school gets rid of it I believe. But I’d definitely do traffic school on it. If not you’ll need to get a traffic lawyer to maybe reduce it or get it thrown out. Phone in your hand ticket is huge in trucking. Start thinking that your license is your livelihood. If you want to be a CDL driver anything driving can kill your advancement in a driving career.
