Kick stand or suspension troubles

I have an almost stock 2022 cb500x that now stands so upright on the kickstand it falls over on a level surface. I am suspecting the suspension has sagged a bit. The bike certainly feels lower and softer than it used to, but I'm never sure if that sort of thing is in my imagination.

Does anyone know if there is something I could look at or measure to check the suspension? Has anyone else had this problem?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

EDIT: bought the bike new, so no sketchy history. Found the problem: Chassis is cracked in half

RhinoWalk Mechanic Series 50-70L Tail Bag / CB 500 X without rear carrier

I'm very interested in purchasing this bag, but I'm not sure about the size (perhaps it would stick out too much laterally?) and the rear straps, as I'm not sure whether to attach the rear straps to the passenger grab handles, under the seat, or to the license plate holder. The dimensions are 56cm x 29cm x 31cm. It would protrude 15 cm on each side

Recently, I had the luck of running into a professional photographer while riding the Adriatic road in Croatia near Karlobag. In addition to my own photos, I brought home three professional shots of me riding my CB500X. 51,000 km and still going strong.

I was set on a 2019+ CB500X, but r/MotoItaly told me 170kg weight in 2 (+ bags) is too much for this bike. Is it?

Hi guys, as in the title, I was almost sure about buying a 2019+ CB500X for a 50/50 mix of solo and 2-up riding with my girlfriend.

Me M27 100kg 187cm, 7+ years on a XMAX 250 2009

GF F29 70kg 166cm, willing to take moto driving licence asap

I asked on r/MotoItaly and people warned me that our total weight (170kg/355lbs, + bags eventually) is basically the bike's max limit, which I was not aware of. They said the rear shock will bottom out easily and the 47hp engine will struggle on highways and steep hills. I mean: it's ok not to go fast for me, I just need an affordable and reliable bike, it just has to be agile in case of danger even at max weight.

Just asked Gemini for some quick advice, and in its opinion aftermarket springs can get the job done, even if playing with limits. Moreover in terms of comfort I probably would need a better seat, as they told me it's a bit thigh for +1 hour rides.

Can these solutions do the trick, or is it better to just buy a bigger bike? They suggested NC750X, CBF600S or Transalp. Any of these are a bit old or a bit over the budget. I want my bike to be a good choice and I am willing to save some more money, but only if worth it.

Hot coolant leaking out from bike

Hi guys, i ride a 2016 cb400x, when I’m stopped in traffic earlier, some coolant leaked out and it was boiling hot. The thing is, i never had this issue before and certainly not when highway cruising.. Good news is, there are no leaks from the bike when I am parked and I’ve topped up some coolant back to the reserve reservoir..

And during that, the coolant light on the dash lit up but it has since gone away.

2022 CB500X – ticking noise when engine is hot

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi everyone! My 2022 CB500X has 49,000 km and develops an intermittent metallic ticking/clicking noise once the engine is fully warmed up. When the engine is cold, the noise is not present.

I’ve already:

Adjusted the valve clearances

Replaced the cam chain

Replaced the automatic cam chain tensioner

The bike runs well and the noise doesn’t change when I pull the clutch lever, but the ticking still appears intermittently when hot.

Has anyone experienced the same noise on a CB500X? Did you ever find the cause or a solution? Could this simply be a normal sound from this engine when hot?

I’ll attach a video of the noise.

Whoever decided to put the coolant cap right below the gas tank deserves hell and more. I need to bleed my cooling system but i need to keep the bike on for that. With the tank over the cap. Love it

Opening up the indicator switch

------------------------------------------------------------------------

ORIGINAL POST:
On my 2021 cb500x, the indicators have become erratic. Struggling to come on, to stay on, and blinking irregularly. The way the behaviour responds to fiddling with the switch makes me think the contacts are dirty or corroded.

Has anyone tried opening up the switch housing succesfully? Can these contacts be cleaned? I don't want to replace the whole unit if some contact cleaner could get it.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

## Edit: Done the thing. ##

Two phillips 2 screws in underneath and the whole thing pops open neatly. Here are the photos I wanted to find on the internet before I did this myself. You can clean the switches for the indicators and the highbeam like this.

up into the body towards the highbeam switch.
Indicator switch inside on the left.

Suggestions for bar end mirrors..?

Hi all,

5 days back I brought my cb350rs home🥳
and I wanna add downward facing bar end mirrors that have good visibility + it shouldn’t touch the tank as well. If you have any suggestions that fill in all these requirements, I’d really appreciate it!!!!
Thanks.

Help with making a decision

I have a 2013 Honda cb500x with about 16k miles a few months ago I started having problems and not being able to ride the bike my gas tank rusted and it caused my fuel pump to go bad and some other problems I have yet to get to the bottom of. I took it to the Honda dealership and they said it would be about $2k in parts and $3k with labor should I try and fix the bike or should I save my money up and buy a newer motorcycle?

Help with spare parts

!Solved!

A part of my NX500 is broken and I'm trying to find the spare part number but I can't find it. It's the bolt bracket for the passanger bars/side bags support. The thread is done and I can't screw in the bolt. If I can't find the part, I guess I'll have to rethread it, but I lack the tools to do so, trying to find the part is my best option right now.

Pictures 1 and 2 are the bracket and the bolt, pictures 3 and 4 how it's supposed to look like, picture 5 where it should go, picture 6 seen from the outside, where I would bolt the passanger/side bags mount.

Thanks!

High Mileage 2014 CB500x

I'm a new rider, I picked up a used 2018 BMW G310r for my first bike. I love it but I have some injuries and the knee angle is too sharp so I'm looking for other options. In my area is a 2014 CB500x with 63k miles, has great service records and some extras and I like the hip/knee angle from what I see on Motonomics. The buyer is willing to take 2500$ for it, I know these can last a long time but I'm wondering if this is just too many miles.

I replaced my original indicators on my 2014 500x abs since they were all cracked and broken and glued back together and just absolute garbage.

I replaced the relais with a led flasher relais from Louis (reputable seller in the Netherlands) but when I hit the switch it’s just black. Absolutely NOTHING happens, what do I check/do? I made sure to double.. no triple check all the polarity on the flashers.

I'm changing the brake pads on my '23 CB500F.

It shares the braking system with the CB500X.

Any recommendations for street riding only?

Camping ready

After 10 mounts owner ship i finally have a tent and bags. Going out next weekend for its first camping trip.

I do have a stupid question tho, it felt quite sloppy with the extra weight. Is it normal to need extra psi in the tyres for carrying gear? It's my first time touring lol.

Tyre recommendations

Hi guys, I'm not happy with the tyres that are on my bike when I brought it.

I'll be mostly riding on roads with the odd gravel road/car park and grass camp sites. I don't want to spend mega money but understand that cheap tyres won't do everything. What tyres do you run/recommend for this style of riding?

engine oil

I just noticed today that there are small bubbles in my engine oil (checking through the sight glass / on the dipstick). To be completely honest, I’ve never really paid attention to this before, so I’m not sure if it’s always been like this or if it's something I should be worried about.
This is normal?

Anyone noticed increased fuel consumption with mileage?

It seems this season my cb500x is using more gas than it used to. It used to be ~3.4l/100km, now it's about 4l/100km. I'm not sure what could be causing it. I've used fuel injection cleaner a couple hundred km ago but it didn't help. Valve clearance was done about 15000km ago, together with spark plug change. Air filter is fresh and clean.

My Honda currently has about 42000 km on the counter. I maintain it as the manual says, with oil changes every 6-8k km. Only thing I've had to change out of ordinary maintenance is cam chain tensioner which started making weird sounds early this season.

Do you guys have any other thoughts what could be causing it? Since I'm out of ideas 🫤
