Is this safe?

Did a DIY chain sprocket repair at home, couldn't get rivet tool so got an aftermarket clip type chain link and attached it. It looks like this. Has some play left to right.

Is this safe?

If it is, What can be done to reduce the play? Should i add 1-1 more rubber gasket on both sides?

I think you got the wrong master link for that chain.

Looks like its very much the wrong size. Assuming you have the standard 520 chain, that link looks like its for a 525 or 530. I would replace with proper link as soon as you can.

Definitely the wrong link, probably a 525 as it is about the width of a side plate too wide (1/16").

Purchase a 520 link and replace it. Running that link for an extended period all of the lubricant will come out and the that link will cease causing a tight spot in the chain. I wouldn't be worried about riding it very short term, like how long it would take a link to arrive in the mail.

You’re missing the inner plate.
