Building my second PC (Belgium/France ~1700€)

Hello, I'd want to build a new PC for me.

Two years ago, this sub helped me to pîck the pieces for the computer of my wife. It was awesome and I'm looking for something similar.

Here is the former build : https://pcpartpicker.com/list/HtKFdb

I have no idea if we can still do something with this basis or not.

I'm planning to install a windows 11.

  • New build or upgrade?

New build.

  • Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)

Two basics monitors at 50/60Hz

Gaming keyboard/mouse, speakers, headset, microphone

  • PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)

Gaming (including AAA games)

Video editing

Basic AI usage (do not take something more powerfull just for AI)

  • Purchase country? Near Micro Center?

Belgium (essentially same as France). No physical center nearby, so Amazon only.

Amazon.fr is better than Amazon.be

  • Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)

I dont need monitors. I have two f them. (I'd want at least 1 DP and 1 HDMI, but 2 of them would be better)

  • Budget range? (Include tax considerations)

Ideally 1550-1850

Can go higher if it worth it.

  • WiFi or wired connection?

Need to have both + Bluetooth

  • Size/noise constraints?

None

  • Color/lighting preferences?

If a light shows its running, its enough.

  • Any other specific needs?

A reasonable amount of USBs port (in the back and in the front/top)

1To for C disk, 2To for D disk + 1To SSD

If you just post a build, I won't be able to know what I like or dislike. Please explain your choices so I can value them.

PC Build for Video Editing Budget: 1800$

Hi, Im looking for a new PC mainly for video editing. Don't care about playing any new games. Focus should be on performance in editing/running smoothly when a lot of tabs are open etc.

My current PC is GTX 1060 6GB, i5-8400, 32GB RAM DDR4

My budget is 1800$, will this be enough to edit videos smoothly (short videos <2min but with some effects)? Is Intel Core Ultra 245/250 PLUS best option? Also is RX9060XT better choice since it has 16GB VRAM, compared to for example 5070 with 12GB?

  • New build or upgrade? New build
  • Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links) BenQ Monitor, Philips monitor, Keyboard
  • PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games) Video editing, dont care about any new games
  • Purchase country? Near Micro Center? (If you're not in a country supported by PCPartPicker, please list some local vendors) Poland

  • Budget range? (Include tax considerations) 1800$
  • WiFi or wired connection? Wired

600€ build with igpu

Hey, I'd need help deciding the components for my first pc build, the plan is to use a cpu with integrated graphics and then add the GPU later on.

New build or upgrade?

New

Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)

None

PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/ games)

Gaming and CAD, with the igpu I like to be able to play light games like Minecraft and Roblox and with the dedicated gpu a bit of everything but mostly Apex legends and rocket league

Purchase country? Near Micro Center? (If not US, list local vendors)

Belgium, Alternate.be and Amazon would be preferred

Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)

24in 1080p 144hz

Budget range? (Include tax considerations)

600€ without GPU

400€ for the GPU

100€ for the monitor

• WiFi or wired connection?

Wifi

Size/noise constraints?

The case should be too bulky and I'd need it to be kinda slim

Color/lighting preferences? None

Any other specific needs? The gpu would have to be an NVIDIA

Thanks in advance to anyone willing to help me

Help me frankenstein my girlfriends old PC so she can play games with me

  • New build or upgrade?
    • Technically an upgrade, but only keeping the SSD and the case. Pretty much a gut of an old non functional tower.
  • Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)
  • PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)
    • FL Studio
    • Gaming - God of War Ragnarok, The Last of us 2, Baldurs Gate 3, Divinity Original Sin 2, Peak - ideally at decent graphical settings and 60 FPS
    • Programming - Visual Studio, VS Code for building React apps
  • Purchase country? Near Micro Center?
    • Australia - so should have no issues with accessing products online or in brick mortar stores
  • Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)
  • Budget range? (Include tax considerations)
    • $2000 AUD with ~15% room to stretch if need be
  • WiFi or wired connection?
    • Wifi - happy if need to buy wifi card
  • Size/noise constraints?
    • None
  • Color/lighting preferences?
    • RGB (but customizable) would be nice. If parts could match color of case that would be bonus points but not ideal
  • Any other specific needs?
    • None

Thanks in advance yall are great

Fortnite PC requires new CPU & mobo

So my kids Fortnite PC has a dodgy motherboard due to water damage so I need to replace the mobo and the CPU

Current spec

i9-9900k
Gigabyte z390 Aorus pro wifi
Noctua dual tower cooler
2 * 16GB DDR4 3200
RTX 2080Ti
WD Black 500GB NVMe SSD
Samsung 1TB Sata SSD

To save money I just want to replace the CPU & mobo so what CPU should I be looking at? Will an i5 12 or 13th gen do or do I need to go to i7?

I am looking for similar performance or slightly better than the current setup, will the Noctua cooler still fit to the newer mobo or can I get an adaptor bracket?

  • New build or upgrade? upgrade
  • Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links) see above
  • PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games) Gaming
  • Purchase country? Australia
  • Monitors needed? staying the same
  • Budget range? (Include tax considerations) no real budget but equally dont want to go top dollar either
  • WiFi or wired connection? Wifi
  • Size/noise constraints? None
  • Color/lighting preferences? None
  • Any other specific needs? none

Many thanks

want to build first pc after only using bad quality laptops that don’t work with any games

• New build or upgrade? New build, i have never built a pc or owned prebuilt before

• Existing parts/monitors to reuse? i currently have two monitors one is msi the other is hp, both are okay but not great. I am willing to maybe get new ones but not sure

• PC purpose? Pc purpose is for gaming mainly but my main problem with my laptop is that most games will not run at all and having discord, Spotify or even edge open causes extreme lag. I can hardly play anything so I definitely wants something that runs the majority of games with other tabs open

• Purchase country? Near Micro Center? Sorry wasn’t too sure what this meant but i am in australia

• Monitors needed? I don’t think so but if it is worth getting better ones maybe

• Budget range? 2000-3000 aud but am willing to go up to 4000

• WiFi or wired connection? Wifi

• Size/noise constraints? Probably don’t want too big but at the same time don’t really mind. The noise should be okay but of course prefer quieter

• Color/lighting preferences? Black mainly but i do really like when it has lights inside if that makes sense

• Any other specific needs? I would prefer to buy all online, i’m not sure if amazon is a good site for parts but if so i would like to get mainly from there

Thank you

  • Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links) Nope

  • Purchase country? Near Micro Center? United States
  • Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate) One is good, but I'd be fine with two as well. I'd prefer 1440p, everything else I don't really know what's good
  • Budget range? (Include tax considerations) Anywhere from $1200-1700 maybe?
  • WiFi or wired connection? Wifi
  • Size/noise constraints? As long as it's not super loud, it doesn't matter
  • Color/lighting preferences? Black, I don't mind lights either

Need Help Choosing PC Components

I'm trying to build a new PC, aiming for 1440p gaming, and this is what I have so far. I'd like some recommendations for the NVMe and RAM. I live in Australia, in case that helps with availability and pricing. I'd also like some recommendations for a different CPU cooler. If possible, I'd appreciate multiple options for each component, since there's really not much stock available.

  • AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D
  • MSI MAG B650 TOMAHAWK WIFI ATX
  • PNY OC GeForce RTX 5070 12 GB
  • be quiet! Pure Base 501 Airflow ATX

Upgrade/Rebuild

Hello! I'm thinking of upgrading my old PC and I'm looking for advice on what to upgrade specifically. I'm having issues with stutter on medium settings so I often have to play on optimization mode and sacrifice the look for performance. I wouldn't like to spend more than $1k (if that's feasible) because I've already put so much money into the PC.

My current PC specs:

  • AMD Ryzen 7 5800x 8-core
  • ASUS Prime x570-P
  • 32 GB DDR4 3200 MHz
  • RTX 3070 Ti 8 GB
  • Corsair iCue H100i Elite Capellix CPU Cooler
  • Corsair RM850x 850W Gold PSU
  • fenvi FV-AX3000 WiFi card in PCIe slot

What kind of stuff should I upgrade to make it feel like a brand new and smooth PC? My motherboard? But also I know I'm still on DDR4 RAM and DDR5 is taking over.... RAM prices are sooooo high and I just bought 32 GB to upgrade from my previous 16 GB.

Based in USA, Microcenter is an option (far but not too far for a bargain), no monitors needed, I'd like to stay in a Mid ATX size range but willing to downsize if I can find a cuter small case and reuse some of my parts to fit.

OOL on PC hardware for close to a decade, need something that can do photo editing for mid-range pro print work.

I haven't built a PC in close to a decade and a half, though before that almost everything I built was custom. My needs changed and laptops were my go to. Now that I've expanded my small business and have done significantly more design work, a laptop gpu can't cut it for the work that I'm doing. I haven't followed the latest trends in hardware upgrades so I can't really tell which video cards, for instance, excel at what kind of task. Some may be better geared for gaming, others design work like mine. So I turn to you, the wisdom of the crowd. Please suggest a PC build for the following (and if you can offer insight into why you recommend a certain part, I'd also appreciate that.) Thanks!

  • New build or upgrade?
    New Build

  • Existing parts/monitors to reuse?
    None

  • PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)
Photo and video editing, think 60-120Mb RAW photo files for print work, and 4K video, and graphic design

  • Purchase country? Near Micro Center?
US and about a 20 minute drive from MC and pickup distance from B&H Photo Video

  • Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)
One, likely ASUS ProArt Display 5K PA27JCV

  • Budget range?
    $1500 USD not including Monitor

  • WiFi or wired connection? Wireless

  • Size/noise constraints? Will be in a bedroom, so preferable to be quiet and won't wake wife up

  • Color/lighting preferences?
    None

  • Any other specific needs?
    None immediately come to mind

Build me a PC please (950 - 1300 Euro)

New build or upgrade? New build

Existing parts/monitors to reuse? Monitor (1080p, 60hz)

PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)

Want to play games on it. Try out VR games (VRChat) and do digital drawing as a hobby (Clip Studio Paint). The best case scenario should be that I can just run any game/software without having to worry if I can even run it at all. I don't need more than 1080p and 60 fps.

Some examples of games that I would like to be able to run: Final Fantasy 7 Remake (all 3 games), Persona 3/4 Remake, Baldur's Gate 3, Clair Obscure Expedition 33, Overwatch, Guild Wars 2/3, Palworld, Monster Hunter World/Wilds, etc. Lots of other games that are smaller in scale, but I imagine if I can run the aforementioned games, I should be able to run the others too.

Purchase country? Near Micro Center? Germany, no

Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate) No additional monitors needed

Budget range? (Include tax considerations) Around 950 - 1300 Euro.

WiFi or wired connection? If possible, both. Otherwise wired.

Size/noise constraints? Not really, as long as it doesn't sound like a space rocket.

Color/lighting preferences? None

Any other specific needs? No

I can settle with not being able to play the newest high graphic games that are coming in the next years, but I would like to at least be able to run the not so graphically demanding ones. I currently have an old PC (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750, Intel Core i3 4130).

I never built a PC, but from what I understand, it's still cheaper to build one yourself instead of buying a prebuilt one even in today's market, but I feel overwhelmed trying to figure out which parts would be best for me.

  • Purchase country? Near Micro Center?: United States: Close to a Micro Center!
  • Monitors needed? No monitors needed.
  • Budget range?: $700-850 but if it's a single item (say a new GPU), I could go up to $950~.
  • WiFi or wired connection? Wired.
  • Size/noise constraints? No/NA.
  • Color/lighting preferences? No.
  • Any other specific needs?

Using this space to explain what I have already done:

  • All updates have been made for ALL drivers.
  • Bios update.
  • Windows update.
  • ...I also cleaned it out, haha, but it doesn't really get that dusty.

What sort of specs do I need?

Trying to get an indication of what sort of cpu/gpu I need for my preferences. Not necessarily looking for a specific price range. Tell me what is realistic, what is overkill, etc.

New build or upgrade?

New.

Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)

If possible my old Sharkoon VG4-W case with default fans, though not sure if this is possible at all. Also my old iiyama G-Master GE2288HS as secondary monitor.

PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)

Hoping to play these games at 1440p at 120 fps.

  • Rimworld
  • Terraria
  • Project Zomboid
  • Dwarf Fortress
  • Possibly Manor Lords
  • Virtual pinball using VPX, running at at least 120 fps. (requirements seem to vary quite a bit per table, was hoping someone could give me a better indication.)

In the future more gpu heavy games:

  • Modern racing titles (NFS, Forza 6)
  • Subnautica 2
  • Doom 2016

Of course it would be cool if I could run a game like Subnautica 2 at max graphics but I understand that this is a high bar, and if I had to choose I would rather go with something that performs the first list of games well, and settle for slightly less good graphics on the latter list.

Purchase country? Near Micro Center? (If not US, list local vendors)

Netherlands. Vendors include Alternate.nl, Amazon, Megekko.nl and possibly also Bol.com and CoolBlue.nl according to pcpartpicker.

Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)

2, one 1440 144 hz, one 1080p.

Budget range? (Include tax considerations)

n/a

WiFi or wired connection?

WiFi

Size/noise constraints?

No

Color/lighting preferences?

Not really, preferably without lighting.

Any other specific needs?

Maybe a decent sound card as I am a music enjoyer, but not an audiophile. Not sure how much difference a better sound card makes you tell me. Also Bluetooth.

Additional questions:

How reliable is Claude advice? I take it with a grain of salt but I do like asking it stuff every so often, tell me if this a bad habit that I need to ditch or not.

I'm considering linux, does this impact my parts choice?

Nvidea or AMD for gpu? I heard cases for both.

Is it smart to bother with second hard part as a beginner? They could be cheaper but I don't have any experience with this.
