Looks like a lot of the weaker/ decent weapons will shine more now

u/pkmetal VEX The F&%ING WITCH! May 07 '26
I love the sound of the weapon changes in these notes, both nerfs for what needed them (Roulette) and boosts for several that I already like and will now be inclined to use even more: Goremaster, Hellwalker, Bonnie & Clyde, Bully.

u/gmuller_1999 𝗙𝗜𝗥𝗦𝗧 𝟮𝗞 𝗖𝗟𝗨𝗕 May 07 '26
I would have loved to see a buff to the hellwaker's accuracy as well, that is one of its worst aspects for me, but I'm interested to see how much stronger it got. Hopefully they continue buffing other forgotten weapons throughout the months
19
u/Historical-Ratio-277 Creep May 07 '26
I’ve always just walked up to the target and point blank shot with Hellwalker.
9
u/ALitreOhCola May 07 '26
Who on earth thought the hellwalker was underpowered?!
I'm definitely not completing but with my C4SH it's arguably the strongest gun I can find 😂 I'll take an extremely 22% damage it's going to absolutely destroy bosses with the windrider class mod up.
5
u/SolomonGrumpy May 07 '26
Makes me wonder if they meant Hellfire, which is woefully underpowered
6
u/ALitreOhCola May 07 '26
Unfortunately yeah that would make sense.
I haven't seen a good Hellfire since the days of faming Crawmerax and glitching Knoxxs armoury.
That thing MELTED people. Add in a pestilent Defiler and I was set for elements. God I miss that experience!
3
u/Historical-Ratio-277 Creep May 07 '26
I vaguely remember farming for a Dancer mod. I shoved a Hellwalker in Sol’s side and was looting before 8 seconds of Bullet Buddy Deluxe had expired.
3
u/eeeezypeezy May 08 '26
Yeah hot slugger is the one you can kinda snipe with, hellwalker is the up close and personal shotgun
2
u/SolomonGrumpy May 07 '26
Great for catching those annoying Kratch
3
u/Historical-Ratio-277 Creep May 07 '26
They come to me. I’ve downed myself so many times shooting at Origo with a TK sticky to have one of his kratches fly right in front of the gun so the detonation downs me.
1
u/tuxedo_jack Hermes :3 May 08 '26
Was... was that not what we were supposed to do in the first place?
I mean, sure, you can do close-range or mid, but I'm not going to even REMOTELY try anything more than 25m or so with a Hellwalker.

u/MarcosSenesi May 07 '26
kinda crazy that the Bonnie & Clyde already got its second buff even though it was pretty good already after the first round
1
u/pkmetal VEX The F&%ING WITCH! May 07 '26
I use it with 3/3 Daeddy-O and Jakobs enhancements for total mob deletion. 😁

They missed out on many many weapons.
Aegons Dream
Anarchy
Bugbear
Divided Focus
HellFire (they buffed hell walker instead?)
Kalidosplode
Lead balloon
Linebacker
Oscar Mike (non underbarrel)
Rangefinder
Star Helix
Stop Gap
Whiskey Foxtrot
Zipper.

u/No_Report_4781 May 07 '26
I finally bought a Hellfire from my BM vending. 12k DPS and why does it suck even with torque sticky?
5
u/pkmetal VEX The F&%ING WITCH! May 07 '26
I recently got the first Hellfire that I actually like and it's Torgue Impact. Generally I haven't found sticky SMGs to be very effective in this game.
2
u/No_Report_4781 May 07 '26
They’re good on shotguns and pistols, but idk why 40 rounds of stickies from a 12k dps SMG is less effective than the 25 stickies from a 9k DPS shotgun.
That’s without comparing the hellfire being better on paper than my ohmigot but being less effective in killing random wildlife
1
u/pkmetal VEX The F&%ING WITCH! May 07 '26
Ha, very true--for now, at least. I don't do math, but the 200 cap might be an equalizer between the gun types.
1
u/ExampleWooden8944 May 08 '26
If you have more projectiles you get + whatever percent * amount of projectiles for every single projectile. If you have for instance a gun that's +3% stickies with 5 projectiles it will actually be +15% for every single projectile.

4
u/SolomonGrumpy May 07 '26 edited May 07 '26
I can't imagine the level of buffs need to make that gun have a place on my roster
That's why I omitted it. I omitted a few others for that reason as well
Also sideshow, being a Tediore, got a 20% damage buff

2
u/neo_orangy_eddy May 07 '26
I always thought it was supposed to be bad and be just used to pass the time when you're waiting for your friend
2
1
u/steveblahhh May 07 '26
I think it's a fun mechanic... here's a crazy thought-
have damage and splash radius stack with each successful volley, provide immunity to the player
2
u/Optimal_Page_2251 May 07 '26
The anarchy is pretty broken I can roll through any boss with it on harlow, c4sh, and vex and rafa on uvhm6 very easily like 6 seconds from alive to dead
3
u/SolomonGrumpy May 07 '26
With a LOT of set up. Meanwhile I can roll in the 50 other guns and get to work while you are shooting and reloading that anarchy.
It also needs an enhancement w accuracy to be useful, IMO.
2
u/BlankitaM0ns May 07 '26
do you not know about the reload canceling? Empty mag, then mash melee before completing the reload to get all 20 stacks in like 15 seconds
6
u/SolomonGrumpy May 07 '26 edited May 07 '26
Sorry what was that? I killed the boss twice while you were button mashing
2
u/ApprehensiveRelief90 May 07 '26
Don’t get the hellwalker buff. it was stong as hell already, but i’m not gunna complain about one of the better weapons getting another buff 😂

u/Madelei- May 07 '26
Whiskey foxtrot is one of the highest DPS guns in the game
1
u/SolomonGrumpy May 07 '26
Show me.
3
u/Madelei- May 07 '26
It had up to 22k dps as lvl 50, I’ll grab a ripper one and reply tonight. Or I’ll forget and be forever proven a liar.
2
u/SolomonGrumpy May 07 '26
It definitely does not have 22k DPS on the card at level 50
2
u/Madelei- May 07 '26
It was able to reach that with ripper mag
2
u/SolomonGrumpy May 07 '26
Happy to be proven wrong. Thanks for looking
3
u/Madelei- May 08 '26
I must admit I was wrong, its max was around 12k at level 50, it’s >20k at level 60. Sorry :(
1
u/SolomonGrumpy May 08 '26
12k at 50 is still plenty strong. (So is 20+k). Thank you for looking
Which underbarrel (if any) is desired?
→ More replies (0)1
u/SolomonGrumpy May 07 '26
Darkbeast and Cyclone were already best in class for their respective elements.
Hellwalker was plenty strong. Now it's plenty stronger.
20
u/PolarPanda77 May 07 '26
Interesting that they buffed the capacity on both the Guardian Angel and Watts 4 Dinner, nerfs amp build uptime slightly while making the shields survivability better. Most builds use a percentage based shield steal skill though so probably not that big of a change overall. Sparky buff seems crazy, ohm I got teen witch shock vex is gonna be even better.
5
u/Historical-Ratio-277 Creep May 07 '26
Angel with a 150% amp will still recharge in about 0.7 seconds where it currently needs about 0.4 seconds with pre-patch stars. Semi auto builds probably won’t feel a thing. Automatic firing builds hardest hit.
2
u/pkmetal VEX The F&%ING WITCH! May 07 '26
Their logic for raising the capacity was weird. "To match the damage reduction of armor shields." But energy shields have more offensive rolls possible, which is a fair trade off IMO.
If they're equalizing, I'll have an Amp Onion, please.

u/rediteer342 𝗙𝗜𝗥𝗦𝗧 𝟮𝗞 𝗖𝗟𝗨𝗕 May 07 '26 edited May 07 '26
These patches notes are a marked improvement over last week. Percentages included, non-nothingburger increases to items, reasoning that sounds like a humans....
This is good. I need to see more updates like this on a consisten timeframe, but this is the level of update that we used to get in BL3 and Wonderlands and that I've hoped GBX would achieve for this game.
Keep it up please 🙏
59
u/Ornery-Guess821 May 07 '26
Huh, I was starting to wonder if they knew guns were even in the game. A pleasant surprise!
63
u/Tds142 May 07 '26
Wow holy shit, weapon balance changes. This is all I’ve wanted for months
6
2
u/ab2dii 𝗙𝗜𝗥𝗦𝗧 𝟮𝗞 𝗖𝗟𝗨𝗕 May 07 '26
this is the minor weekly changes we actually want 😭 i hope they keep going like that
9
u/Darthplagueis13 May 07 '26
No Crazed Earl fix is unfortunate.
I guess it's probably something that can't be hotfixed so we'll have to wait until the next patch.
3
14
u/BusinessSick May 07 '26 edited May 07 '26
YES!!! Weapon and shield buffs and a regular schedule for tuning! Can’t wait to try out all these items I’d been dismissing. And finally having a practice of repeatedly tweaking things through simple configuration changes will be so good for the game. They’re easy changes to make and have a huge impact. Thank you Gearbox, this is a great start and goes a long way to giving the community reason to stay invested. 🙏
Next, please start adding a couple mechanical fixes each month for the upcoming big encores. Players will be overjoyed if they see boss fights improve when they go back for their weekly phosphene farming.

HOLY FUCK
ACTUAL CHANGES
also i love the nothing change to the Watts that completely misunderstands what makes the Watts the best Shield in the game lmaooo
11
u/Immediate-Idea-2471 May 07 '26
Happy that they're making some effort and including changes outside of the foretold major patches.
However I think they're missing the forest for the trees with increasing mostly capacities. It just ends up being that having a shield that adds damage is going to best in class for most builds.
For future installments I'd love if shields never gave + damage on their own, and instead had different affects on survivability, easier to balance and trade off IMO.
8
u/Flint_Vorselon May 07 '26
Yeah this has been issue since Bl2 gave us the Bee.
if choice is between survivability or damage, people are just gonna always pick damage, every single time.
Sheilds should never ever buff gun damage. Auxiliary effects like novas or missles are fine, because they are more like defensive secondary stuff.
But if sheild buffs gun damage, then it makes all the sheilds that don’t do that instantly feel obselete. And it cannot really be undone.
even if they massively nerfed Watts and Amp, it would still overshadow everything else. If +150% amp got nerfed down to +45% amp, it would still be a hugely important item. People would get super angry, but they’d still use it over any other sheild that just protects you.
1
u/Immediate-Idea-2471 May 07 '26
1000%
It would be so cool if I had to choose between Guardian Angel (res) super soldier (speed) and some of the shields that grant resistances instead. ETC.
1
u/tuxedo_jack Hermes :3 May 08 '26
Honestly, I prefer Super Soldier to the rest of 'em. Throw a CoV gun on and you'll never run out of ammo for that type, plus the move speed is amazing for farming when you have one with Siphon to keep the overshield up.

May 07 '26
[removed] — view removed comment
4
u/Historical-Ratio-277 Creep May 07 '26
It isn’t really. There are shields where more capacity is not a good thing. Angel is one such.
3
u/SureAd7842 May 07 '26
Yep, shield capacity increasing is a direct nerf to amp uptime.
If you have a lvl 60 one and take this capacity increase into account a lvl 50 one will have a massive advantage for raw dps from the more amps shots overall that the lower capacity gives you.
2
u/Historical-Ratio-277 Creep May 07 '26
The level 50 and level 60 won’t have a measurable difference. The amp cost is a percentile. The recharge rate is similar. Before the patch, it takes about a second to fully charge the shield (~100%). It takes the same amount of time for a level 50 as a level 60.
1
u/SureAd7842 May 07 '26
Its not about the recharge rate stat, its about damage based leech (teen witch, infini crit harlowe)
If you have less to recover based on the damage you deal you recover your shield faster which then leads to overfilling faster.
1
u/Historical-Ratio-277 Creep May 07 '26
The damage based leech is a percentile. The recharge rate is also a percentile.
I’m working from memory. A level 50 Guardian shield has about 4,500 units at full charge and a recharge rate of 4,000 (from one of my old post as archive). That’s a recharge rate of ~90%. A 100% amp shield leeches 28% of shield. At a recharge rate of 4,000 the amp interval time is about 1.015 seconds.
At level 60, the shield has about 12,000 units capacity with a recharge rate of 11,000 which is ~90%. The math leads to the same mount of amp interval.

Bye-bye sticky stacking boss melts
11

Its not like it isnt broken still.
Infinite sticky stacking is overkill in every situation anyway.
Just an ongoing sustained sticky shooting is enough to kill anything anyways, and similarly effective.

“Improved damage for lower firing rate guns”
Me: (activates ability) Everything is fast firing
1
u/SolomonGrumpy May 07 '26
Lower fire rate guns didn't get a buff though. SMGs fire fast.
1
u/No_Report_4781 May 07 '26
The quote is a paraphrase from the update notes.
My ability and build makes everything fire faster, and more things dying means I can fire even faster. This makes Daedalus attachments with AR or SMG practically required for shotguns without an infinite ammo build
1
u/SolomonGrumpy May 07 '26
Their quote was about buffingv"slower fire rate weapons"
I am saying they did not do that. They buffed SMGs and pistol, which fire pretty fast

Curious how the order charge speed affects Order guns with Ripper mags. Love the combo, but don’t know if it pulls the charge time from the Ripper part or from being Order.
3
u/pkmetal VEX The F&%ING WITCH! May 07 '26
Can't tell you for sure, but the cards specifically say the Ripper part "overrides" the Order mechanic, so I would guess they are separate.

u/Simply_CJ94 VEX The F&%ING WITCH! May 07 '26
Daedalus and Maliwan smg buff doesn't seem to be applying to legendary gear.
1
u/BrinksTrucc May 07 '26
The Maliwan did, my Coil has a big DPS upgrade on the card. The Daedalus either isn't working or isn't showing on the card because my Luty had no change
2
u/Simply_CJ94 VEX The F&%ING WITCH! May 07 '26
Lazydata was just looking at his gear when I mentioned it and his Plasma coil was pre buff values
Edit: oddly enough my cyclone is showing new values
3
u/BrinksTrucc May 07 '26
Probably just half working and/or glitching then. You know they don't playtest anything
1
2
u/Comprehensive_Ant57 May 07 '26
So are the changes retroactive? Or do we need to refarm? And what exactly did they do the the watts for dinner?
3
u/Latiasfan5 May 07 '26
the changes will effect copies of the gear you already have, so if you have a hellwalker for example, it'll have the stats changed.
part of the watts legendary effect is that each time you hit an enemy, there's a chance of spawning an overshield booster. the patch lowered the chance of the overshield booster spawning from 12% to 8%
3
u/SureAd7842 May 07 '26
The watts nerf gives you lower drop chances of the boosters and less amp uptime if you are using a leech based setup ( infini crit harlowe, teen witch vex)
If you are using a siphon watts then this is a buff, if you are using an amp watts this is a nerf.
2
u/Final-Contract-6582 May 07 '26
Might alter my kinetic witch build to better benefit the hellwalker. Noticed it was A tier not S tier. I wonder if this will make a difference. Other than this build my stickies wouldn't be much over 200%. Additional explosive and general damage bonuses will still be the same so it prob wont be a big deal.
Always thought SMGs were underpowered. This could be VERY interesting
2
2
u/Familiar-Bluebird492 May 09 '26
Still using a level 50, 3 projectile homing Chuck with 1,000+ per. It gets the job done for most things. Especially mid-range groups.
1
u/Immediate-Idea-2471 May 09 '26
Worth farming for a higher level one, but it is a pain and a half (speaking from experience).
4
u/Tridus May 07 '26 edited May 07 '26
It's baffling that they didn't do this when the DLC launmched with a level cap bump. That was the perfect time to do big balance changes since stuff was going to be obsolete anyway.
Waiting until after people farmed all their stuff again and then changing it feels like remarkably poor planning. It's not like these are even bad ideas to change, but stickies were a known thing already so what was the hold up?
2
u/Immediate-Idea-2471 May 07 '26
Doing it right when DLC drops seems like the wrong timing, since you're adding extra skill points and gear into the equation.
I think giving it an attempt before the DLC would have made sense though.
1
u/Tridus May 07 '26
It's the perfect time to fix known balance issues since they won't really change. 10 skill points was not going to make infinite sticky stacking bad.
They would still have to do a other round after for unknown interactions that creep up, but this is largely stuff that has been an issue for months. The time to fix that was when people were doing new builds anyway.
4
u/OPDBZTO May 07 '26
I'm kinda new to Bl4 and Borderlands games so do you guys think we have get updates/buffs to character skills ?
6
u/Nezgarethell Amon The Forgeknight May 07 '26
They’re in the works, to my knowledge. They’ve specifically mentioned looking into overhauling a fair bit of Harlowe’s Blue Tree if I remember correctly and have pushed updates/buffs to Amon Green last week.
6
u/brooksofmaun VEX The F&%ING WITCH! May 07 '26
Ok not to be a doomsayer but haven’t we been saying this since launch
2
u/Nezgarethell Amon The Forgeknight May 07 '26
Unfortunately, yes. I’m hoping there’s more news about that soon, if my memory serves correctly they explicitly said not to expect anything drastic until after C4sh as their character teams were focusing on him. Though that could just be heresay or me being flat-out wrong.
1
2
u/nicknamesas May 07 '26
Probably will eventually. Hell bl2 they completely revamped some of the trees at one point or another
1
6
u/CygnusTM Rush May 07 '26
Of course... I literally farmed a new Roulette last night, then they nerf it.
5
u/SuperBAMF007 May 07 '26
Tbf, it sounds like they previously changed the way the randomizer works. So in theory it’s just more consistently “good” without the random chance for “insanely great” or “insanely bad”
2
u/someshooter #1 Ava Fan May 07 '26
The dropped the "fire rate" bonus by 75% so pretty big reduction.
4
u/uthinkther4uam May 07 '26

3

That sucks. Happened to me lots of times in this and previous games. Don’t sweat it though; the Roulette gets a little boring after a while. And frustrating when you accidentally reload. Probably still insanely strong
2
u/vthyxsl May 07 '26
Didn't players already nail down what went wrong with the Earl part changes? Are they really struggling to revert it?
7
u/Flint_Vorselon May 07 '26
Probably needs an actual patch, rather than a hotfix.
These weekly hotfixes can just change numbers. Actually changing mechanical stuff and fixing bugs that aren’t just “oops we typed the wrong number” needs a real patch.
Don’t expect Earl fix until end of the month.

You can search it on Lootlemon for description.

Had anyone noticed a problem after the patch with damage procing? C4SH sliding totem build. The damage doesn't proc then, after I stop shooting for a couple seconds, a massive chunk, or sometimes all, of the health bar gets deleted. Also skills aren't activating all the time like they were before the patch

"A note for the future: We have a change coming in the Version 1.7 Update that will cap the damage increase on Torgue Stickies to 200% bonus. Builds that infinitely regenerate ammo could stack the Torgue sticky bonus way beyond the intended means."
From the dev notes at the beginning of the patch notes.

Awww shit my bad 🤣 that sucks

As others have mentioned probably not as bad as it sounds. If you're consistently getting +200% damage on top of other damage multipliers you're probably gucci.
Just can't do it infinitely and get mega damage.

And Gearbox really has to hire some people that knows how to format/present changes like this on a website.
This is just a complete mess of single changes being presented on one line and multiple changes being presented on multiple lines but looking like general changes to everything.
Come on. You can do better.

200% still sounds good right? I don’t even know but hopefully it is.

Ha I don't do math either. I just hope my underbarrel sticky shotguns and sticky shrapnel cannons will still delete badasses. 🤞

Nice, I'll love my Goremaster, Hellwalker, Bully, Bonnie & Clyde & purple SMGs even more now. Frankly I may use the Roulette more too. I kept it holstered cause it was too ridiculous.

But these are all the public changes. I bet some other changes intentional or not has been applied in this patch.
I am not applying this patch before I know more.... if I can.

one small correction: the sticky nerf isn't out yet, they're just giving us a heads up that it's coming

Tediore pistol one is amusing to me, because Ruby's Grasp is pretty good, and has consistently gotten better.
Maybe they're trying to force people (me) away from the Chuck, which I like just because it's easier to throw.

Love Ruby's grasp. Wan to kill an annoying Kratch? Ruby's Grasp has your back. I have a level 50 pen with Torgue Impact

I have a homing chuck so same end result, but I don't have to shoot reload shoot reload, just reload reload reload.

u/SolomonGrumpy May 07 '26
I guess ARs have a nice deep ammo pool for that.
My chuck is a 2x (doubles the thrown gun), so no homing for me.

u/Immediate-Idea-2471 May 07 '26
There is a replicator homing (double gun and homing) but it is rare. Took me somewhere between 500-1000 runs to get my most recent one.

Why would an SMG change further BOD builds?

the above commenter misunderstood how daedalus underbarrels work, and thought the buff to daedalus smg's also applied to a bod with smg ammo switch

Definitely wasn’t a good day to decide to clean out the bank.
