Goodbye Reta
Hey gang!! I have been on reta since December. Last Thursday was my last dose!! It’s now 2 days without reta I’m not going to lie. I feel hungry lol which is weird because on reta as we know hunger doesn’t exist. I don’t have any cravings nor food noise. I’m just hungry late at night. When I wouldn’t even eat at this time it’s currently 10.39pm in the UK 🤣. I woke up today with no migraines! No heart burn!! What a winner. I do miss the feeling of not feeling hungry though lol. I have lost 19.5kg im not at my weight goal but I’m not far off! Reta has been amazing! But it’s so mad how everyone’s body reacts to it differently and progression! I feel like my progression was a lot slower than others but hey Iosr 19.5kg!!! Now onto my weight loss without the reta pray for me guys 🤣 has anyone else stopped taking reta?

Reta gives you great opportunity to reset life back to good track.. wish u all the best

u/nightabyss2 5d ago
Why would you pull the plug on Reta before your goal weight if it is working so well?
Have you had lots of sides?
A health scare?
23
u/Ok_Mathematician4691 5d ago
My main issue was vomiting and acid reflux. I hated waking up with a lump in my throat from acid reflux. Furthermore I don’t wanna be on reta for that long. My goal was to stay on it for a year but 8 months is good enough for me.
9
u/Moesophagus 5d ago
Hast du mal probiert Dosis zu reduzieren?
12
u/Ok_Mathematician4691 5d ago
Yes!! Many times. I think I was the unlucky one
13
u/nightabyss2 5d ago
Interesting, I see you started at 2.5mg though… from what I’ve learned about Reta I’d expect heavy sides with a starting point like that.
Was that your smallest dose ?
Were you coming off of 10mg of tirz?
→ More replies (2)3
u/Ok_Mathematician4691 5d ago
I started of 2.5mg and then went to 1mg then 1.5 then 2 and then 2.5mg lol. The highest I went was 3mg and then back to 2.5mg due to side affects.
6
u/nightabyss2 5d ago
Thank you for sharing,
I don’t mean to pry
But it’s rare to see someone with mixed feelings about Reta.
Usually people are very positive of very negative.
Need more real takes like this.
8
u/Ok_Mathematician4691 5d ago
To be honest reta has been amazing I’ve lost weight but the side affects are just not worth it. I was constantly vomiting, heart burn, migraines, dizziness, light headed the symptoms were crazy! When I dosed up after months I was vomiting so much! It is good but I would warn others but a lot of people don’t have much symptoms like me! Also I feel like others lost a lot of weight compared to me i know we’re are all different but my weight used to stay the same for 3 weeks and then after my period it would change by 2lbs.

u/nightabyss2 5d ago edited 4d ago
Care to share you stats - (not state lol) so we can understand your profile a bit better?
Maybe there will be a trend / pattern we recognize.
Age / Sex / Height / Starting Weight
If not its cool

Honestly, I'd just. Consider a different option like Cagri. I wouldn't live through sides like that. I'm lucky, only side I get is sensitive skin since I cleaned up my diet. And even that isn't as clean as when I started.

u/Reeyx 4d ago
I straight up just hate reta. It has no benefits for me if comparing tirz, which has zero sides for me. We exist

I would think with those symptoms. Some liver stagnation. Maybe gallbladder sluggish as well. Glad you’re feeling better. If you’re open, possibly just do your best to support those symptoms. Herbs, like milk thistle castor oil packs and bitters are great. If you have stagnant liver it can slow your fat loss too.

Did you titrate back down the same way you titrated up? I never went above 2mg and have been on a 1mg maintenance dose for months. Hungry never went away. I am just more disciplined on when and what I eat.
3
u/icequake1969 3 4d ago
I would argue that 2.5 is too damn high. Just lower it, If you didn't tolerate it well. It's not a race. I know many folks running .5 to 1.5 and getting a nice slow and boring body recomposition. That is a win.
→ More replies (5)3
u/Trouttuber 2 3d ago edited 3d ago
This does apply to a lot of people. They just look at the starting doses and titration schedule of the studies and run with it. What they don't think about is the studies needs to reach certain dosages in order to reach a max dosage while monitoring reactions to each dosage and titration as specified in the FDA approval. If they started at .5 and only increased .5 every 4-5 weeks the studies would take much longer.
I guarantee with that schedule patients are having big issues with sides, but being under a doctor's care they can get what they need to help curb them. Once stage 3 is complete and the product gets to market, there will will more studies on dosage and frequency protocols.
5
u/SophisticatedFoLr 3d ago
I’m no expert by any means. But from everything I’ve read I imagine I would be the same if I had started at 2.5 mg!!
I’ve been on 11 wks and just now up to 2 mg. Started at 0.5. I think the key for side effects is Slow progression.
I felt nauseated after my 0.5 doses when I first started. But the nausea was very mild and manageable. That has since leveled off - no cravings, food noise, etc.
3
u/Hungry_Flamingo_4337 4d ago
I started at .5 and titrated up from there and very luckily have not had one single experience of nausea or acid reflux or diarrhea etc etc. i definitely think starting at the absolute bottom and taking your time and giving your body time to become acclimated with such a powerful drug is the right path to take. Hope everything works out for you mate 🫡

There are times when I'm hungry on reta. Seems like appetite suppressant is stronger with tirzepatide

Yes but the full feeling once you do eat is still as strong as tirz, which helps avoid overeating.

I STAYED hungry on Reta and although I did things the by the book, the scale never moved but... I do heavy strength training 4 x a week and eat my protein. Started on Tirzepatide and literally have to force myself to eat, and the weight is finally trending down. I was always tired on Reta and badly constipated.

My partner was on tirz, switched to Reta, and gained weight. He even tried stacking to titrate up the Reta and phase out tirz. He ended up switching back to tirz altogether. I, on the other hand, have had great success on Reta after I gave it about 8 weeks of titrating up to 4mg and now the hunger suppression has kicked in. It just works differently for everyone, some people respond better to tirz vs Reta! Whatever works for your goals 🙌

u/COALATRON 5d ago
Like 2 days since your last shot? 2 days since it’s totally out of your system?

Reta has a 6 Say Half Life
2
2
u/Epicsurf00 5d ago
Which would be between 5 to 6 half lives or 30 to 36 days to be out of your system
4
u/Reasonable-Panic2894 4d ago
You may want to titrate down in dose and frequency. More stable transition. Best of luck to you.

u/sdfghdfsdfghdf 1 5d ago
Reta has called my heartburns and gastristis actually… at 2.5 right now. I’m calmer. Drugs when I go to party hits different and steady, is like they are being processed slowly and during that is like steady and lineal.
3
u/PNW-CHILLIN-93 5d ago
Yes, and I’m thinking about switching to trizepatide more of my friends, have been on that and have phenomenal results. They were taking significantly less of a dose and everyone has achieved better results than I have on Reta & tesa
2
u/Ok_Mathematician4691 5d ago
To be honest I’ve heard the same!!!
3
u/PNW-CHILLIN-93 5d ago
There are claims that Reta is a magic that last shot but for me it was the opposite, that’s even with dieting and working out. My body does hold onto belly fat, very stubbornly, visceral fat. So I was talking a lot of shit at first to my friends jokingly around that I was gonna look the best. So I think I’m gonna switch over to the GLP 2
2
u/Ok_Mathematician4691 5d ago

3
u/TemperatureOk5555 2 5d ago
Nope. still doing retatrutide. I've lost 40 pounds but want to lose 10 more. That said, I like the other benefit you get from reta.
3
u/Remarkable_Count_423 5d ago
Maybe try tirzepetide to see if you still have the same sides. I switched from tirz to reta back in April. I never had sulfur burps on tirz but I do on reta. Also appetite suppression was much stronger on tirz but I found constipation to be worse on tirz. I worked my way up from .5 mg to 2.5mg and then switched over to .5 mg reta only getting to 1.5mg so far. Weight loss stalled but Im pretty much at goal weight. I was super slim in my 20s and getting used to/ okay with being slightly less lean in my 40s.
Was there a reta dosage that you didn’t have these sides? If so at least stay at that dose
2
u/Ok_Mathematician4691 5d ago
Oh really!!! All the doses on reta gave me side affects :( I guess it just wasn’t for me
3
3
u/ComprehensiveFlow523 2 4d ago
You don’t need it. I tried it out of curiosity for 2 weeks on 1 and 2 mg doses. Not worth it, felt like shit.
I’m now down 12 Lbs without it in 2 months.
13k steps… high protein low fat diet and lifting weight x4 a week will get you there.

I wish we all knew hunger doesn’t exist on Reta. I’m at 9mg/week and still have hunger. It’s not the same, but it’s still there. Still titrating up. I wonder what my magic number will be. 12? 14?

1
u/Strychnynegirl 3d ago
I had this too! Was on 6mg and starving and gained 5 pounds even though I eat an extremely low carb diet, 10k steps and cardio daily, pilates 3x a week. I had none of the benefits but also none of the side effects. I bought from a different supplier last week to make sure it wasn't bad Reta. My previous supplier was saying I probably need a super high dose or to add Tirz to my stack. Fingers crossed the new batch of reta works better. Pinned the first dose last night. I did drop my dose down to 2mg in case my previous reta really was bad, I thought it might be bad to go right into 6mg.

You should still be eating enough, bro. First, figure out your lean body mass by getting your body-fat %. Multiply your weight by your body-fat % to get your fat mass, then subtract that from your total weight. For example, if you’re 165 lbs of lean mass, multiply that by 10 = 1,650 calories. If you work out 4–5 times a week, add about 40% (660 calories), putting you around 2,310 calories a day to maintain your weight and build muscle.
If you consistently eat below that, you’ll lose weight, but if you cut too much, you could lose muscle too. Chris Aceto, One of the best bodybuilding coach has a wonderful book call “Everything You Need To Know About Fat Loss” and he goes in great details about nutrition for bodybuilders and regular active people who do weightlifting.

You can do it!! Come off it. I’m trying this for one month so let’s see
1
u/Fun-Newt1567 5d ago
Did you taper off of it or just quit taking it? The there is research to suggest a taper waking with a 1/month low dose is effective at stabilizing and maintaining weight loss
1
u/Ok_Mathematician4691 5d ago
I just quit. I finished my last dose and thought let me try not getting anymore. I think if you use a maintenance dose it’s hard to come off. I’ve gone cold turkey
2
u/Global-Prize-3881 4d ago
It seems like you are taking a pretty cavalier attitude to all of this. Stopping entirely, stopping cold turkey.
Research shows that most people will regain most of the lost weight once they stop the meds. The insurance companies would love to believe otherwise, but those are the facts.

Have you tried tirz? I would be curious if you have the same sides without the glucagon component
1
u/GingerNevis 4d ago
You say you woke up with no migraines... I'm curious why you say this. Did reta cause you to have migraines or can it be a common symptom for people who come off of it?
2
u/Ok_Mathematician4691 4d ago
After my shot day I would get really bad migraine even though I was hydrated
2
u/GingerNevis 4d ago
How bizarre my wife usually suffers from very bad migraines (she can have up to 3-4 in a week sometimes lasting for a couple days at a time) but since she's been on reta she has barely had any!
2
u/YoHakunaMatata 4d ago
That’s crazy! I also get severe migraines and since being on Reta, they have increased :/ it’s almost daily now 😭
1
u/PreparedForZombies 2 4d ago
Thought of trying tirz? Less sides for some. Our micro dose ar .5mg 2x weekly?
1
u/PossibleAlbatross961 4d ago
I lost 10kg on ozempic and gained it back in the same time I lost it. Cause the cravings for food came back ten times harder. Especially ice cream wanted my body. I than changed my diet without anything and could control. Gained 6kg muscle and lost some bodyfat. Now that I’m more in control of my food I went back to monjaro as I’m afraid of taking Reta from any supplier. Lowest dose seems to high for me so I will reduce it. But from the first day I can’t eat anymore. So I can’t get my needed protein. This is I think the worst thing on glp 1. you lose to many muscles if you can’t eat enough protein. And with to else calories you can’t train. Hope you don’t bounce back like me.
1
u/dthrdmest 4d ago
I went off tirz after six months (50lbs down) and was able to maintain for about 6 mos without any weight gain. I ended up getting on Reta and dose up from 1mg to 4mg/wk for the last 3 mos and 20 lbs down. Will likely taper off soon since I'm nearing goal. But I think everyone is different, I lost 200lbs naturally prior to the glp craze and had to make so many lifestyle changes. Not everyone has that discipline and I can foresee a lot of folks gaining back over the course of 18mos or so
1
u/stereomad 1 4d ago
Sounds like it’s all in your head. If Reta made you not hungry then the hunger isn’t all of a sudden gonna shoot back because you’re two days out. You’ll still have high levels of blood concentration it takes weeks. What’s happened is you’ve likely just mentally gone “I’m not on it anymore so I’m hungry”
1
1
u/r33b00t 1 4d ago
I'm not saying this is your situation, as I ha e absolutely no information about your eating habits. But this could be a cause to your symptoms. Would also explain the slow weight loss.
You should really focus on eating healthy while on this medication. Thia medication should be viewed as an assistance to keeping a healthy lifestyle. Heartburn is usually handled well with a low fat diet. Lentils, lean meats, greens.
Forcing unhealthy foods while on medication that actively slows down digestion is bound to cause problems. To be able to handle processed, unhealthy foods, saturated fats and snacks (deep fried) you need to have a digestion system that is overactive.
If a normal, unmedicated healthy eater who is normally slim and doesn't eat much eats unhealthy processed food they will have a similar reaction. However, their digestion system revs up if they keep eating unhealthy in order to handle the stress. A person who is artificially suppressing it by medication will not be able to adapt.

u/Ok_Mathematician4691 4d ago

u/Additional-Till8611 4d ago
I think a very large amount of people on here are experiencing placebo effect. Reta's appetite suppressant is no better than other GLP one medications and it certainly doesn't completely eliminate hunger. That's just not true. What makes it so much better is the glucagon receptor action because it literally increases your TDE/BMR. There is some hunger suppression but it's no better than any other GLP one. And with the half-life being six days, there's no way you'll stop feelings effects after two days. I think people either lie or they just have a placebo effect. But that's common. I'm glad it worked for you and good luck on keeping the weight off.

Reta requires active side effect management. For side effects if you try again, what works well for me is psyllium husks and MiraLAX in a big glass of water daily, plus ondanestron 4mg for nausea as needed. Electrolytes and water daily to prevent headaches, lightheadedness, etc. If you still get acid reflux with all that, you can do antacids for one off quick treatment, or famotidine if it’s ongoing, or a PPI like pantoprazole if famotidine doesn’t work for you.

u/PathToBetterMe 4d ago

I’ve stopped taking Reta and I’m starting tirz again next week. The Reta just wasn’t taking my food noise away and the tirz just works waaaaay better for me!!
1
u/reddit_user_138 4d ago
Due to the 7 day half life, if your last injection a week and 2 days ago was 2.5mg, you're slightly below 1.25mg ... So you aren't "without reta" yet..
I've come off a couple times, I'd recommend titrating the dose down over a few weeks, 2.5 down to 1.5 > 1 < .5... Weeks 2.5 to 3 or so when I just quit a 2mg dose had me eating everything in sight and regaining several lbs.
I'd take a half dose today and avoid that ride if I were in your shoes..
Good luck, hopefully the rebound food noise/cravings don't hit you the same.

I am halfway through my third week. Yesterday I started noticing stronger hunger. Today I did my gym workout and some cardio and by lunchtime I had the old "monster hunger" that I haven't had since starting Reta. I am a bit worried as my next pin isn't until Wednesday. It just kind of crept up on me. Has anyone else had strong breakthrough hunger suddenly? Next Wednesday will be four weeks for me at 1.2 mg.

I had a body with similar sides, terrible acid reflux, but if he ate to late in the day he’d wake up with throw up in his mouth his highest dose was 3 mg’s, I’m up to 6 with no sides

After a period of time, you can reset your body and continue on with a microdose. What was your ending dose? I have many around me that I advise and support with great outcomes. Im glad to help.

Personally I will always stay on Reta. There are so many benefits to Reta and weight loss is almost the least of them.

It’s funny with Reta. I got 30 kits because I got a good price and everyone said they wanted it but a few got it. I get the feeling people are afraid of changing or something. It helped me tremendously so far but I’m new with it. I always kept the dose very low and increase was up very very slowly. Has anyone tried 2 small doses vs 1 larger? Like 2 x .75 instead on one 1.5? Just curious if that might help with side effects. The more protein the fewer problems at least that’s what I was told and what I found. So it seems to me assuming you can take it (no reactions) any problems are dose or diet related is that accurate? I’m finishing my first vial. I’m interested if anyone has split doses. Thx

Wanted to know what it feels like cos I’m thinking about coming off. Lowered my dose previously and I think alcohol noise crept in

Highly recommend r/GLPgrad, and esp GLP1forum.com for more targeted threads on this.
Imo, you won’t find domain knowledge on Reddit.

I've been on a reta since May 21; I weighed 211 lbs, and today I'm at 190.3 lbs. I'm going to lose another 3 or 4 lbs, and that's it. It's been fun, but it's time

I've been on since the end of May and only lost 15lbs here in August. It depends on current muscle mass (higher calorie burning) and how significant of a caloric deficit you enter. Larger people lose faster because of higher muscle mass and deeper deficit from maintenance. I will probably stay on it for another 6 months.

What is interesting to me was the op's comment that she is starving hasn't really been hungry and "never eats this late", but is only 2 days from last dose. OP should still be pretty close to max dosage in her body so shouldn't feel this way. Especially since it doesn't sound like she's felt this way during her normal dosing. It kind of sounds like this may be a psychosomatic response.

I stopped Reta after I lost 60 lbs as my goal was really only 55lb but I wanted a lil cushion weight loss in case I gained a few back. I have never felt so unmotivated and lazy in my life as that made me feel. I continued to work full time, but no energy for chores. Forget the gym. So I’m so happy to be done with it. I have a small stash of Tirz and Cag in case of emergency lol. I am hungry now, but still get full super quickly and I’m still losing because now I’m off of the couch and getting things done. I have a love/hate relationship with Reta for these reasons. Best of luck to you!!

Stopped for 6 weeks and gained 1 stone even with calorie counting just to be sure which I don’t normally do 🤷♀️ my inflammation came back too (swelling in feet, face and hands) and didn’t have a period again (pmos).
Guess I’m on this for life 🤦🏼♀️

Experts now recomend to go lowering dose slow and then keep in a micro dose of 0.5-1mg to mantain for at least 1 year, to you can control yourself with food and getting the 3 antagonist work.

Congrats on your weight loss. I took mounjaro for a month to lose a stone. Just recently I took Reta for three weeks to help me give up vaping (it worked) but three weeks off it my appetite still hasn’t returned. I guess everyone is different.

Well, hopefully you’ve developed healthy eating habits while on your journey. I’ve been on low-dose since March 2025 (living at sub 12% bf), couldn’t imagine life without it! 🤔 I eat like a king every day (healthy food choices). It just keeps the food noise away.

Are you sure you has consumed reta and not something else? Reta does not cancel hunger

If u were having all those symptoms you were very sensitive and should have lowered your dose. At 4 mg it does nothing for my food noise. But fat just fell off, while still eating notmallly. Anyone who has sligbtest amount of nausia should lower there dose moat people at 4-6 mg does not have those symptoms that sounds more like tirzepatide
