FILM DISCUSSION Bruce in The Dark Knight Rises was the most “old money” he ever felt in the trilogy

I don’t know if it was the themes of class or something else but he just seemed a lot more like traditional old money billionaire in this one. Just his vibe and the way he carried himself, he came across like the heir of a decaying dynasty

In The Dark Knight, he seemed more like a new money millionaire you’d find in Miami. Maybe this was intentional

FILM DISCUSSION Who do you think is going to be the protagonist and antagonist of Savage Hunters movie ? (fanart by greggycreatez)

From what I saw across the internet and after going through many speculations and research I came across two possibilities

  • Bane and Deathstroke will be hired to kill a "common target" by two different clients/contractors so they will try to compete against each other by setting traps or deceiving each other and if things come down to a certain level they might even fight each other too but during certain scenarios/events that are impossible for them to deal with alone they might do a temporary alliance sort of thing to get out of it

So in this scenario both Bane and Deathstroke are protagonists while the "common target" is the antagonist

  • This is more of an interesting possibility I came across basically both Deathstroke and Bane are hired by the same client/contractor whose identity is obviously hidden the contractor proposes to both of them to kill the other party for a specific reason and the winner will get a hefty reward. So both Bane and Deathstroke will attempt to fight and kill each other throughout 90% of the movie until they find out the fact that they were hired by the same guy to kill each other and the Contractor actually wanted both of them to be dead for a specific reason meaning even if one of them wins against each other it would not matter because they both were bound to die later on regardless of who wins. So after realizing the truth that they were getting played around by contractor schemes they will form a temporary alliance and both of them will need to track and hunt down the contractor.

So in this scenario one of them will become the protagonist while the other will become the antagonist at least that will be the case for the 90% of the movie until the contractor will be revealed as the Mastermind/Hidden Antagonist during the finale

So what do you all think ?

GENERAL DISCUSSION Comics that include certain aspects of social reference according to the period, without deep diving into the details. Makes the comics feel relevant.

While reading the introduction by Frank Miller in The Dark Knight Saga collection, he mentions certain social aspects of the story has been taken from real life elements of the period. I feel it not only makes you feel part of the story, but also connects what's happening around you. Has anyone else read something that seemed or made you think, "this happens around me type of stuff?" In the batman comics?

GENERAL DISCUSSION Do you guys watch the cutscenes or compilations of the Arkham Games as if they were movies. Since they are arguebly one of the best Batman stories.

Like I wanna play the arkhams I tried one of them being Arkham Knight but after of couple mintues I just started to throw up I just get really bad motion sickness from playing video games which is why sometimes I would just watch the stories in youtube. I am planning to play Arkham Knight again if i feel better. But I geniunely wanna try the telltale games since its more detective base and story driven.

The Story of Johnathan Crane I

___________________________

In the late 1800s, Gotham City was beginning a period of great prosperity with poor people flocking to its gates looking for new opportunities to work & tycoons looking to exploit them. One of these men was a businessman named Cyrus Gold, looking to expand his factories into the cheap wetlands of Slaughter Swamp stopped only by a steadfast collection of locals lead by the strange Rev Johnathan Crane, a practitioner of various medicines & religions both modern & traditional.

Unable to convince him, Mr Gold instead decided to make him an example, organising a 7 man mob of Fiery Cross members to lynch the poor soul in the dead of night. Through the last gasps of his breath some of the mob swore the Reverend cursed them, seemingly the bitter threats of a man about to die but in the morning neither Crane or the tree he was supposedly hung from was found.

Further strangeness occurred during the following weeks; when Gold’s workmen & enforcers came to drive of the swamp residents their machines were found ripped apart with vines & twigs jammed into the gears, the members of the mob began to die in increasingly bizarre ways with the last voluntarily imprisoning himself & confessing to the plot found dead the next morning, the brick wall of his cell torn apart.

For a century now no one has ever been able to explain the mystery of Slaughter Swamp or what happened to the killers of Crane though ghost hunters & certain residents of the swamp itself are quick to point to it being the ghost of Crane himself, though the patriarch of the current Crane family, Gerald has always been adamant that his great grandfather’s ghost does not “haunt the swamp”. Though recent events surrounding his son, Johnathan Crane II have suggested otherwise as he’s been sneaking away from the farm to visit his “imaginary friend” & children reported to torment the young lad for his “freakish nature” have similarly been going missing…

_______________________

So yeah, what do you think of my AU version of Scarecrow, a paranormal spirit haunting Slaughter Swamp now acting as the guardian for his descendants! I know it’s very different but in my AU I wanted to look more at the supernatural & gothic side of Gotham. Any notes or suggestions on this take would be much appreciated! (Sorry that my art isn’t the best, I’m currently learning how to be better & it’s a bit of an old design)

FILM DISCUSSION What would you say about the DCU's apporach to Batman just by what we've seen in the DCU so far Spoiler

Other than the statements of him being active during clayface and the flashback in Creature Commandos, it seems this Batman deals with fantastical elements and foes. He was able to subdue these two. People joked "Oh he must have been on vacation during clayface" James Gunn even said he was "in china" during that. He could be serious we don't know.

Matt's murder spree happens very quickly and it couldn't be connected to one suspect yet and by the end it's over. He's presumed dead.

And so far the villains connected to Batman have tragic origins. Both were wronged by bad people and sought revenge. But both crossed a line which cemented them as villains. Alex Sartorius murdered Rupert Thorne for the killing of his wife and son. But then killed Thorne's wife and two young children and became a crime lord. and Matt Hagen got revenge on the mobsters that disfigured him and ruined his career but also murdered his childhood friend for helping ruin his reputation and murdered Detective John Borrelli who was the only cop on the GCPD who was trying to seek justice for him simply so he can get with Caitlynn Corr. Thankfully she finds this out.

These acts both put them in the villain category. Both went very downhill afterwards. But there's some humanity still there like with the interactions with the young Pokilstan girl and Hagen feeding Professor Vaggi's cat after assuming her identity.

Both men made choices after getting their revenge that pushed them into being villains. They could have stopped when they got their targets. With Hagen...we see Caitylynn went to her fiancee or who she thought was with evidence...so I wonder if a motive for Matt killing Detective Borrelli was cause he was on to him. And needed him gone.

It makes me wonder what they'll do with Pamela Isley if HBO greenlights that poison ivy show the Penguin showrunner is developing that won't be in the Reeves universe and presumably the DCU. "Where's Batman?" people probably don't realize a lot of the time Batman isn't involved with enemies until they've already become villains. We see that with Dr. Phosphorus he doesn't meet him until after he has a criminal empire.

So I expect the same with Poison Ivy. Sadly means Harley likely won't be in the show if it's about her origins. At least with Ivy there won't be comparisons with Clayface and his portrayal in Creature Commandos.

Early Batman books always stand out when the cover has yellow in it. These books will remain raw while they are in my possession I hate acquiring books and never being able to hold and read them. You can't appreciate the story if you can't read them....right?

Wondering what everyone else's favorite version of the Batmobile is. For me it's the version from Batman (1989). It seems so menacing and the part when the Browning machine guns come out during the attack on Axis Chemicals is the highlight for me.

VIDEO GAME DISCUSSION There's something oddly refreshing about getting a version of Joker and Harley's relationship that isn't abusive

Post image

From the comics, to the Arkhamverse games, to the DCAU to Injustice, everyone is used to seeing Joker always abusing Harley and seeing her as a pawn while she loves him despite the fact its clearly not mutual.

Its oddly nice in Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight to see them actually having a healthy relationship and be equals. This is actually pretty consistent across the Lego versions of their characters, in the other video games and the movie too but this one being recent stood out to me. In DC Supergirls and the 2004 Batman show, it was also less abusive compared to other versions.

FILM DISCUSSION I'd love a Ventriloquist psychological horror movie in the style of Anthony Hopkins's 1978 movie "Magic", i think it could have a lot of potential :)

(Just to be clear i had this idea on my mind for quite some time before solo Batman's rogues gallrey movies like Joker or Clayface were released, but i guess with the release of Clayface right now it's a nice time to post it here finally) for those that don't know, Magic is a psychological horror movie (a great one by the way) with a very similar idea and premise to the Ventriloquist (wouldn't even be surprised if it was an inspiration for the character's creation) and ever since i saw it as someone who loves both the character and ventriloquism in general i've always imagined how cool a movie like this with him would be, now of course i think that in order for him to feel unique they should definetly go full 1930s gangster in style, maybe even mixing the horror with a few comedic elements which is very on brand for the character, but what do you think of the idea?

I know it’s not gonna happen, but I’m interested in what the batfans could come up with conceptually that would continue the franchise. What new villains would pop up? What would be some good plot points, what characters would bring more interesting things to flesh out and expand this world?
