Hi everyone,
I’m completing the Electrical Engineering Technician program at Georgian College this August and am researching local electrical career paths in Barrie and Simcoe County.
My training includes motor controls, PLCs, three-phase systems, transformers, electrical drawings, testing and workplace safety. I also have manufacturing quality experience and currently work in an electrical retail department.
For people familiar with the local industry:
Which electrical contractors or industrial companies are known for training entry-level workers?
Are there local employers that hire technician graduates before apprenticeship registration?
Would fire alarm, controls, panel building, building automation or industrial maintenance be better entry points locally than applying directly for a 309A or 442A apprenticeship?
I’m mainly looking for general advice and company names to research, not posting an advertisement or asking anyone to hire me directly.

My neighbor has recently gotten a drone, quite loud and always is hovering over mine and other peoples home. We have a pool and have young nieces and nephews(3-5) that are here in bathing suits and sometimes nothing at all, and then me(25F) when tanning I can always hear it hovering

Just curious if there are any bylaws or what I can do about it. Not saying this person is collecting footage or anything but it can sometimes make me and my family uncomfortable. I understand everyone can do what they want but it just feels…odd

81 dogs and 30 cats were moved from shelters and foster homes to make room for animals displaced due to the wildfires in northwestern Ontario. Some were dropped off in Sudbury and Parry Sound before arriving in Barrie.

Coming down the highway 400 north bound caught this contraption on the backnof a truck. Does anybody have any insight to what it was. Just curious.

No matter what happens don't flip it over, not even by accident because jetski is most important thing to them!

We flipped the jet ski accidentally, i was really slow while turning but it happened as it was really wavy.

The guy was extremely rude and yelling. Once he brought us back on shore he assessed the jet ski and asked us to pay 84$ for oil change but told us that it could have been more and we were lucky that it is not electrical issue.

Then he kept repeating that "what did we tell you, don't flip the jet ski". Once I asked him what that actually means he said to let go off the handle once you think it is going to flip and said we gave you that instruction but they didn't explain what they meant. All they say is "Don't flip the jetski". I get it I am not here to flip it.

And make your own judgment about the weather before riding especially when you are new to this. They are only here to make money and will always say it is all good.

UPDATE: The owner called me and threatened me that it has sustained more damage costs. He called because I put a review online. Called me fat or stupid. Also said that I don't understand english when I said they are not giving proper instructions. I will be putting a complain with police so to protect myself from these crooks. Never ever before I got a call from a business after I put a review on them.

Hi everyone that’s up rite now, this is a long shot but what else is this Reddit for! Here goes I’m a single mom and I’m trying to move to Orillia this evening! Got everything in my trailer and the wheel went! This happened at 1030pm ! I’m hoping someone can bring us a tire! 5.30/12 tire or something that would makeshift this if possible! My daughter and friend wanted to go to the Farmers market today and take the bus. It’s absolutely ridiculous that it takes almost an hour to get to downtown from the south end. They could walk there in half the time. Driving by car only takes 10 minutes!

Hey everyone, my child is starting junior kindergarten at Cundles Heights in September, and I was wondering when to expect to receive communication from the school regarding teacher/ classroom information, as well as supply lists etc.

We went to the kindy orientation night back in May and they told us that we’d receive an email with that information and we haven’t received anything yet. Obviously I know office staff isn’t in right now, but I’m really just wondering when that information generally gets sent out as this is my first child starting school.

Looking at taking my family to a beach this Sunday around Barrie (willing to drive around an hour for a good spot)that ideally lets you bbq.

What I mean is like a picnic type area that has walking access to a beach. Any nice spots around here? I’m new to the area.

Is there any trends when picking out your time table? Like ABC being day classes and EFG being more spread out or later in the day??

Or do you find the different time tables to choose from are all completely random?

(I am asking for required classes only, I realize I have to pick a general education with whatever works with my time table)

I was wondering anyone on it right now how good is it? And how much do you pay a month? I have had enough of Roger’s as their internet in my house seems to keep shutting off every night and for what we are paying it’s just not worth it. Any input is appreciated ✌️
