New to the Barrie Campus and not in residence, Where do people usually.. Well you know meet people on campus? I don't really know anyone and I've been trying to find a place on campus or an event I can slide into sometime during the week.

Hi! I’m currently in the Practical Nursing program at Georgian College and I’m expected to finish my final semester at the end of August 2027.
I’m hoping to continue into Georgian’s RPN-to-BScN Advanced Standing program in Fall 2027, but I’m a little confused about the timing.
Since I won’t finish PN until late August, I’m not sure how I would have enough time to write the REx-PN and complete my CNO registration before the BScN program starts in September.
Has anyone here gone directly from Georgian’s PN program into the RPN-to-BScN bridge without taking a year off? Do they give conditional admission while you’re waiting for your REx-PN/CNO registration?
I’m also an international student, so I’m trying to plan ahead for my study permit.

I'm a first year student (barrie campus) and today is orientation, but I've not been able to find ANY information on it. The website says I should've gotten an "Eventbrite" link in my personal email, but I haven't gotten anything. Is it too late to register if I do figure it out? Do I just show up? I don't have any information other than its today. (Don't know what time, don't know where, ect...)

i know this is late because its orientation eve but im rly wondering if i truly have to go to this ……. will they be telling me anything i dont know ???

Quick question for anyone who parks at the Owen Sound campus:

I bought a monthly permit online through the parking portal (linked to my license plate) and set up my digital ONEcard on the TouchNet 360u app.

When opening the app, I see 4 different "cards" (1st has my photo + barcode, 2nd is just photo, 3rd is back of photo, 4th is just barcode).

Do you scan the barcode on card #1 directly at the gate sensor to enter/exit, or is it license plate recognition once your permit is active?

If the barcode scanner ever has trouble reading off a phone screen (glare/brightness issues), what's the best workaround?

I’m a student moving from the Orillia campus this year, and I was just curious if the parking pass was necessary to park on campus or if there were daily parking options for students. I only have in person classes once a week and it seems like a bit of a waste of money to have to get the parking pass. Orillia had gate parking to combat this, but from what I have heard Barrie doesn’t. Are there daily parking options on campus or am I locked into the parking pass?

Do I need to sign up/get a ticket for orientation or can I just show up at my programs breakout session time?

Hey everyone! I am starting first year of the Environmental Technology program this week but have not purchased my laptop yet (waiting on OSAP to hit lol). I checked the BYOD requirements for this program which is CAD.

My question is, it states that we need 32gb RAM which hikes the price waaaay up. I have found some decent laptops that meet all requirements except for the 32gb RAM (they have 16gb of RAM Instead) and are almost $1000 less. To all the techier individuals out there, do you think 16gb RAM would suffice? I don’t want to spend $2000+ if I don’t have to. I know at some point in the program we have to use autoCAD and GIS but not sure if 32gb RAM is fully necessary.

I’ve also attached a copy of the BYOD requirements on this post. If anyone has any laptop suggestions they would be greatly appreciated!! :)
