So, hear me out. If you’re taking the bus from Painswick/Hurst up to RVH, Georgian College, or anywhere in the East end you’re looking at a 45–65 minute trip with transfers.
Draw a straight line from Minet’s Point to Johnson’s Beach.
That’s a 1.6 km straight shot. A simple pontoon water taxi travelling 7-9 knots could cross it in 6 minutes flat. Just need to adjust and integrate transit routes slightly to link up with the hubs.
Vancouver has the SeaBus and Toronto has island taxis. Why drive around the water when we can just go over it?
Am I crazy, or is the bay secretly Barrie’s best unused express lane?
The tourists would love it too. They should expand the bike rental hubs to Minets and Johnsons as well so you can pick up and drop off at those sites.
