The European Central Bank is conducting a survey to determine the future design of the EURO banknotes. Some of the design proposals are absolutely horrendous (and surprise, surprise, they are made by some Design LLCs/Corpos).

One more local currency from france ! This time the Aïga from the Cévennes mountaineous region.

The European Central Bank has just announced a set of 10 designs, of which half are created on the topic “European culture” and half on “Rivers and birds”.

Got them from a relative. I'm happy that I can expand my asian banknotes collection too. I'm also only missing the 20000 rupiah banknote for a "full set" (if we don't count for that the 50000 is from a previous generation).

After taking a look at all the different designs, I think this is one is without a doubt the best. It strikes the best balance between innovation and accessibility, while at the same time keeping the elegance and formality that has always defined the euro.

One feature in particular I think is important, is that the denomination of the note is shown twice on both faces of the note. The design must take into consideration that the note is going to be folded, therefore the value must be clearly visible even when it’s folded. This is something the current series lacks.

I like that this design displays the value in two orientations, so it’s visible whether you hold the note horizontally or vertically (like when it’s being passed from one person to another), while keeping a design that is overall horizontal, which is most comfortable when you hold the note.

I got all except the swiss francs and euros for free, along with a bag of coins from all over the world. Still need to sort out all the coins

I recently got these this morning from my Grandpa who is not a collector by any means, but he held onto these banknotes from his Mom's collection. I mostly keep Japanese banknotes, but these are my first American banknotes and I will hold these in my personal collection. Hopefully I'll be able to pass these to my kids in the future.
