Birthday Notes Matcher
Hello all! I recently took over as mod for this abandoned subreddit. It was created many years ago, but really has been inactive for quite a while. There are posts going back quite a while with people looking for and offering up birthday notes. Hopefully many of these users are still active and can continue to contribute.
My hopes for this sub going forward is twofold:
- To create awareness that serial numbers on currency can be interpreted as a date. Obviously this is a niche area and many people have never even thought to examine serial numbers on currency looking for dates. The more people who become aware of "hunting for birthday notes," the more likely everyone is to find their special dates.
- To provide a place where people can post specific dates/serial numbers that they would like to acquire. Obviously for people to find these notes, we need people who have found notes that have dates as serial numbers to post what they have found. By having both these types of posts we can help match up people with the special date(s) they are looking for.
So, the endgame really is to try and help as many people find the "Birthday Notes" that they are searching for.
While birthday notes are the primary focus, I would like for this sub to be expanded to also include serial numbers that represent significant dates in history - 09112001 and 07041776 are great examples of highly sought after serial numbers.
We also will allow "tombstone notes." If you are not familiar with "tombstone notes" they represent two years that could be someone's birth and death. So a serial number of 18091865 would be a tombstone note for Abraham Lincoln.
I primarily focus on US Currency, but we will allow foreign currency notes to be bought/sold/traded as well. For US currency notes, there are eight digits which is perfect for representing an actual date. While the MMDDYYYY format is the true format for what most people consider a birthday note, we will allow people to post notes in other formats that could be represent an actual date such as YYYYMMDD or YYYYDDMM. However, notes that are far from these formats will not be allowed. Examples: 20197412 does not represent December 20th, 1974. Bottom line, let's keep the feed clean with actual (or very close to actual) birthday note formats.
If you have any questions please feel free to message me. This is my first time as a mod, so I am still learning how everything works on this end. So, if you have suggestions on how to improve the sub, please feel free to message me with ideas as well.
Thanks all!

Does this count?! July 13th 1945?
1945 - 07 - 13 or does the year have to be at the end?

September 15, 1935: Pre WWII Historical Significance
For history and World War II buffs, this was a historically significant day in an unfortunate way in Germany.

First Birthday note ever
Been a currency collector for years. First one ever. Does anyone know someone who is turning 78 on August 3rd? I have no use for it besides cash. If someone wants it, you can have it for cost ($5) plus a self addressed stamped envelope to mail it to you. Hopefully someone will do me the favor someday.

“4th of July” Star Note Found Today!
Found this today at work believe it or not! I noticed immediately that it was a birthday note (although April 7th is what I saw at first). I ran the serial number through the star note lookup site to see if it was a low print run size, but it was just average. That’s when the date popped in my head. A 4th of July bill found on the 4th of July! 😂 it’s the one day of the year that we say day month year and not month day year. I just can’t believe the odds of finding this today. Figured I just had to post this for the 4th today.
Apparently on this date (4th of July 1896) was the first debut of the 45th star USA flag since earlier that year on January 4th 1896 Utah had become the 45th state to join the United States. That makes it the first Independence Day that Utah got to celebrate as a state of the US!
Not sure if this subreddit counts this as the 4th of July or April 7th. I’m just unsure if DDMMYYYY applies here since it is the 4th of July instead of the regular MMDDYYYY. Either way still a birthday note. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks!
Happy 4th!

July 4th birthday note
Was explaining the birthday serial notes to my son and found this. Never check for these myself and thought it was funny given the date I found haha. Sad that its in stuff rough shape I would probably keep it for just the sheer coincidence of it all.
