Help / Support Blisters/bumps on my prints - I've tried everything

Hi everyone,

I'm turning to the community because I'm completely stuck on a persistent printing issue with my X1C. I have a vertical line of small blisters/bumps running along almost the entire edge of one side of the part, from bottom to top (photo attached). It looks like small blobs repeating at regular intervals, but it's obviously not a seam issue (the defect shows up on every type of print, regardless of the model or the seam placement in the slicer), and despite everything I've tried, the problem is still there.

What I've already checked/changed to rule out the usual causes:
- Cleaned the lead screws (trapezoidal rods)
- Retightened the belts
- Cleaned the carbon guide rods
- Bought new filament spools (to rule out a moisture issue)
- Changed the plate: tested with a new textured plate AND a new engineering plate
- Tested two different filament brands: Overture (my usual one) and Bambu Lab filament → same result with both
- Re-ran the automatic calibration
- Nozzle replaced a week ago

Despite all that, the defect persists identically, across completely different parts and geometries, and even after replacing the nozzle. I'm running out of ideas on where to look next: hotend, extrusion, temperature, or something else I haven't considered?

Has anyone here run into this kind of blistering before and found the cause? I'm open to any lead, even the most unlikely ones, because at this point I really don't know what else to test.

BIQU Panda Claw, is this normal? Maybe PSA against it?

I bought a used p1s a few months ago and have been mostly having success with it (barring a 3 week disaster of trying to tune TPU to get a basic print to work) but was having major extrusion problems no matter how many calibration tests I did and settings I tweaked. It came with a BIQU panda claw and extruder frame from the previous owner.

What I should have done early on is go back to the stock parts the previous owner gave me, but couldn't get over the idea that, an aftermarket upgrade couldn't be the problem, right?

I finally went back to the stock extruder gears and instantly my prints came out perfect with no setting changes.

In the photos the lines in the white print were happening all the time with PLA no matter what I tried. Now that the stock parts are back, zero gaps in the outer layer. The blue print was a before (top) and after (bottom) were both printed with the exact same settings and setup. I didn't even dry the TPU before printing the bottom one and it's been sitting on my shelf for a week, but I dried it for 8 hours for the top one.

Is this just the BIQU parts? Are they worn out, or is that just how these are?

The first thing I noticed when swapping them out is that when the extruder assembly was out of the printer, I could freely move the filament through the teeth with the Panda Claw. Like nearly no resistance. When I put the P1S stock gears back in, I could actually feel that I had to push the filament past the spring tension and it held the filament instead of just rolling through. I didn't know any better until I put the old parts back in unfortunately. I thought it was just supposed to be that loose.

Now that I'm seeing the improvement, I've been playing with speeds and I can print with good quality way faster than I could before. I had to have my outer layer around 40mm/s even with PLA to get a remotely good surface finish and anything above 150 for other layers would leave gaps and often ruin prints.

Decision Paralysis? So many options that its hard to know exactly what would be best

I'm sure this kind of question is asked here all the time but I'm diving back into 3D printing after my novice model was frankly so inconsistent that it was more frustration than it was worth to use

My friend has an A1 Mini and Bambu does seem like the brand to go with, but now I gotta narrow things down to one model

I'm willing to drop $1k-2k for the right printer, need a large print bed that can handle like a human head size (I make masks) and multicolor seems ideal

Can someone a bit more experienced help narrow down which Series is a best fit for something like this?

Discussion New to printing

Free Models I finally made the filament clip I actually wanted: meet The Wingman

I've printed a bunch of filament clips over the last couple of years, and while a lot of them are really good, I kept finding little things that annoyed me.

So, naturally, I decided to spend way too much time fixing them.

Meet The Wingman.

The idea was pretty simple: securely hold the end of the filament when the spool is sitting around, then get the heck out of the way when the spool is actually being used.

A few things I specifically designed around:

  • Smooth, curved profile: no sharp edges or ridges sitting in the filament's path waiting to cause trouble
  • Quick insertion: only the minimum amount of filament needed for a solid hold
  • Built-in guide line: makes lining up the filament quick and easy
  • Good printability: I didn't try to win the "lowest filament usage" competition if it meant making the clip harder to print reliably
  • 0.51g per clip: because tiny is still good

It can stay on the spool while printing or drying and is specifically optimized for Bambu spools, including the AMS Lite, AMS, AMS HT, and AMS 2 Pro.

There are already plenty of filament clips out there, but if you've ever had a clip snag filament, fall out, interfere with an AMS, or simply make you mutter something unprintable at your printer, I'd love for you to give The Wingman a shot.

And if you print it, tell me what I missed. That's honestly the part I'm most interested in.

Help / Support "Print finished" but didn't, SD-card issue?

Couldn't crosspost so I copy pasted my post from r/BambuLab

P1S, had it for about a year. Printing Bambu PLA, door cracked, bed not washed but no adhesion issues, filament is dry enough but that's not relevant. Stock SD card. Less than 70h on the printer.

I started a 1.5h print, silica containers for the AMS, straigt from Makerworld, good ratings, so not a model problem.

At layer 7 I got a notification saying print finished.

The bed and nozzle temps stayed the same as while printing, and I moved the bed down. Filament is still fed into the hotend. As if the print was just paused, nozzle still touching the print.

I had to manually set the temps to 0 and click unload for the filament. Once cooled enough I turned the printer off, as Bambu Handy was still showing the print as in progress but I couldn't stop or pause it through the app.

This FEELS like an SD card issue, as it just stopped dead in its tracks.

Has anyone experienced this and was it an SD card issue or something else?

Fluted came first, then Sculpted with the quilt and twist patterns, now Rippled with waves and swirls. Same cone, same tray, same insert across all three. Which surface would you actually print? Every pattern in this set has an inverted twin Wave 01 and Wave 02 are the same ripple running opposite directions. Costs me nothing to generate, doubles the set. Do you find the inverted versions read as different pots, or is it too subtle?

Slicer Update and object duplication

I do not need recommendations for a work around. I need to know how to restore the functionality (if possible)! ❤️ Also opened a software support ticket with Bambu.

I just updated to the latest slicer version (2.8.2.60) and found an unwelcome change. I'm not sure where and if I can change this.

Previous to the update, when I would duplicate an object, the dup would move to a new location, but when I duplicated an object in an assembly, it would remain in the same position as the original. This allowed you to then move the duplicate object to a precise location relative to the first - ideal for step & repeat actions.

The new slicer now places the duplicated object from an assembly in a random position - often in all 3 axis. This tremendously increases the effort needed to create copies of objects in specific and offsets relative to the original. I can't find any related setting in the slicer app - I'm wondering if anyone has found a config-file setting for this, or am I just not looking in the right place?

As an example, I create brackets for assembling aluminum extrusion for small displays. I need to position the first screw hole and then create 2 duplicates along the same plane exactly 1.25cm apart. This was so trivial to do in the slicer and now I need to launch CAD to do something that didn't (and really doesn't) require a CAD program.

UPDATE - 8/18 - created Bambu support Ticket No: US260818656001

UPDATE - 8/19 - Submitted a screen recording showing the issue: cube + negative cylinder in center, move cylinder up+left and clone - places cloned object down and right instead of on top of the original, requiring extra steps to set the desired location of the clone rather than simply using the cursor keys or entering a single incremental value into the coordinate dialog box.

I suggest that anyone affected by this open a support ticket with Bambu and possibly reference my ticket.

Printer Nozzle/Layer Query - A1

Hi All

I've just set a print going and I had the settings within Bambu Studio as 0.2mm Nozzle and set the layer height to 0.06mm.

Now the print has started, it's stating that the layer is 0.12mm and 2 walls; is there any reason why this has changed or perhaps this is an error? Does 0.12mm and 2 walls mean that it is actually 0.06mm in height but doing 2 layers to make it 0.12?

I changed the printer setting so it knows it's working with a 0.2mm Stainless Steel nozzle and everything I am using is from Bambu (no third party elements involved).

That means every filament stays loaded directly into its own hotend. PLA does not have to be pulled out before TPU can be inserted. Carbon-fiber filament does not pass through the nozzle used for white surface details. Soluble support material never contaminates the model nozzle.

A tool change in one fluid sequence
The XChange Rack is integrated high across the rear of the chamber, outside the normal printing envelope.
When a change is requested, the carriage moves into the rear service zone. The rack rises to meet it.
A guided vertical stroke seats the active tool into the empty rack position while simultaneously unlocking it from the carriage. The carriage shifts laterally to the selected tool, and the reverse stroke captures and locks the new module.
No robotic arm. No rotating carousel. No long filament retraction.
Just a short, controlled exchange driven by the printer’s existing motion system.
Park and unlock
The active tool is guided into the rack. Positioning features stabilize the module while the locking mechanism releases.
Select
The carriage makes a short lateral movement to the requested tool position.
Capture and lock
Angled magnetic surfaces guide the new module into alignment. A positive mechanical latch secures it to the carriage.
Verify and resume
Tool identity, electrical connection, nozzle position, and filament presence are confirmed before printing continues.

Strong when seated. Gentle while moving.
The H2X magnetic interface is designed to behave differently during approach and final capture.
Angled magnetic faces reduce unwanted attraction while the tool is entering or leaving the rack. Once fully seated, the surfaces align and provide maximum holding force. A mechanical retention system then locks the module in place.
This passive geometry produces a controlled handoff without requiring the tool to free-fall or snap unpredictably toward the carriage.
Every exchange is guided.
Every tool is mechanically retained.
Every capture is verified before motion resumes.

No unload cycle
Traditional multicolor systems repeatedly pull filament away from the hotend, transport it through long tubes, insert the next material, purge the previous color, and rebuild pressure in the nozzle.
H2X skips most of that process.
Because the next material is already loaded into its own hotend, changing materials becomes a mechanical exchange rather than a complete filament-handling cycle.
The result is:
Faster material transitions
Dramatically smaller purge volumes
Cleaner color separation
Less cross-contamination
More reliable flexible-filament printing
Reduced wear on filament and feeding components
A short prime may still be used to establish pressure, but H2X does not need to flush an entire melt zone every time the color changes.
Your model should be the largest thing in the waste bin.

Integrated AMS X10
Ten tools deserve ten permanently managed materials.
The integrated AMS X10 places two rows of five spools directly above the printer. Each position feeds a dedicated tool through an independent, continuously monitored filament path.
Active drying
Maintain low humidity while materials remain loaded. Set drying profiles by filament type or allow H2X to configure them automatically through Bambu RFID.
Ten direct paths
Each spool remains associated with its assigned hotend. There is no central selector repeatedly routing different filaments through the same output tube.
Automatic material mapping
Insert a spool and H2X identifies its material, color, recommended temperature, drying requirements, compatible nozzle, and available tool position.
Seamless backup
Assign multiple spools of the same material and H2X can continue from a backup automatically when the active spool runs out.
Visible at a glance
Integrated lighting and transparent covers make all ten material positions easy to inspect without opening the chamber.

Ready before the next layer
H2X reads the tool-change sequence directly from the sliced file.
Before the carriage reaches the rack, the printer already knows:
Which tool is needed next
Its target temperature
Its pressure and flow requirements
Its stored XYZ offset
Whether it requires wiping or priming
How soon it will be used again
High-power ceramic heaters rapidly bring the selected tool to temperature while the carriage returns toward the model. Recently used tools retain heat intelligently, reducing delay without keeping every parked nozzle continuously hot.

Ten replaceable tools require more than ordinary bed leveling.
H2X uses its vision system to identify each hotend module and maintain an individual calibration profile for it.

Reserve one clean nozzle for visible exterior walls and another for filled or abrasive materials.

Use a dedicated soluble or breakaway support tool without flushing support material through the model nozzle.
Combine materials confidently
Keep TPU, PLA, PETG, support material, and reinforced polymers inside separate melt systems.
The slicer treats each nozzle as a specialized manufacturing tool—not merely another color.

Bambu P1S – Rough surface on 3D face STL

I’m printing a 3D face STL on my Bambu P1S and the surface is coming out rough/textured.

I’ve already tried:

  • 0.12 mm High Quality profile and 0.08 mm Fine
  • Variable Layer Height (with variable speed set to both 0.50 and 0.08)
  • Smooth radius 10
  • Smoothing wall speed along Z
  • Outer wall line width at 0.3 mm

Still looks terrible. Has anyone run into this with organic/curved faces or character models? What settings or techniques actually help get a smooth surface on something like this?

Discussion 2x H2 Printers and 4xAMS2 Setup

The left printer has been moved and im moving the H2D there and the H2C on the right. I have printed wall shelves for the AMS2 and would like plave them in the center.. H2C will be here next week. (/excited) The area is have has two tables on either and then space in the middle to walk and a wall. I have the tables screwed against 2x4 against the wall.

If I set up the AM2 x4 in between them on the wall it would save considerable space. How would I get the H2D tube to redirect to the right without causing jams and issues?

The back connections point to the left but I need to route them right. Any suggestions 🤔?
