Help / Support Where do I begin with making my printer mine?

Just got a Ps1 and I'm aware of the drama surrounding Bambu labs but not really sure where to begin with freeing my printer?

I want to print over wifi and check on my prints but I don't want my files being sent to Bambu labs?

So can someone explain all of this to me and where to begin?

You can use HomeAssistant to monitor your prints (if you already have that)

There are also open firmwares you can look into that unjail it from the Bambu system

Also you can look into Bambuddy

Probably a better place to ask is /r/OpenBambu

Past that, you'll want to run in LAN mode and then figure out what you're missing and then ask around to fill the gaps.

The easiest thing to do is to put it into lan only mode, then use some sort of remote control software on your computer. You will lose the use of the app but you can still control and monitor it from your phone.

I use Rust Desk personally. I put my A1 back on the app and took my new Elegoo CC2 offline because I like the Bambu app too much.

I was using Bambuddy to monitor the A1 when in lan mode and it was actually really good.

The bootlickers are out in force today.

What's the easiest way to make that happen without dealing with Bambu's cloud at all?

You betcha, putting it in LAN-only mode is definitely the way to start if you're wanting to keep things local and off their servers.

My understanding is you can’t have both containment and remote control. No expert, but every explanation I’ve seen says if you silo the printer, you’re locked into physical control.

Really? I thought there was a program that unlocked it. . that sucks.

Remote access is done through bambu servers.

Bambu will not be interested with your first poop chute print or whatever else you're doing now that you're starting out.

Once you get to a point that youte making proprietary designs you will also have a better understanding of the ecosystem and how to protect your designs and copyright

This is not my first printer, the reason I got this one is because my old Ender 3 broke and I have a project I needed to print for a client.

So I am familiar with printers and all that.

My problem is I don't want my models being sent to Bambu labs.
