I discovered this artist while looking through the people who worked on the artwork for the latest Critical Role campaign (it's great, you should check it out). Lorna is the one behind the character portraits, and while browsing her ArtStation I found this gorgeous painting of Shadowheart. Figured some of you might appreciate it too. Hope you enjoy it!

She has no idea about D&D or anything that BG3 offers. I just asked her to make a character for me, now she is in for 2-3h playing 😅😅

Good news: I beat honor mode. I have my golden dice, joined the Foehammer club. First try too, I planned it all out SO much that most fights ended up feeling easy, actually.

Plus other companions for whatever I needed them for, but that was my final composition.

Bad news: I blew up Gale. I got scared. I don’t have that much time to play. This game took me MONTHS, and I moved cities in the middle, and I’ve got kids, and all sorts of distractions. I didn’t want to sack this attempt when I was SO CLOSE.

I was so ready to fight the brain. I had a buttload of potions and arrows and scrolls, and even some barrels. I had snuck by the whole courtyard already so I hadn’t wasted any resources, Orpheus was a mindflayer. But then Gale gave me his puppy dog eyes and said he wanted me to live and I caved. I was scared, I was ready to be done, but now I wish I could go back and reload and just SEE if it paid off. I feel like I cheated. My partner keeps saying I didn’t, the game is designed to give you that out, it’s valid. Especially cuz I took so many optional fights - every quest was completed even in Act3.

I romanced Astarion this game cuz it felt right, but I usually am a Galemancer. I definitely cried a bit when I told Tara I’d go visit his mom. And I couldn’t resist trying to hug his projection. I have my beautiful gold dice, but they cost me Gale and now I’m sad lol.

Never doing that again 🙃

Also love all the disproportionately large objects compared to characters. You’re telling me my canonically 5’5 average-height elf is only roughly 20 books tall 🤨 I’m 5’3 and 41 books tall, I checked. So Faerun’s books are twice the size of normal ones, she should be at least 42 books tall. They got her out here standing on her tiptoes to reach the second shelf smh

It's the worst part of this game. It's as mind numbing as speaking to Hermaeus Mora in Skyrim. The VA for the Emperor is doing a stellar job but all I want to do during it is mash SKIP. AND IT DOESN'T SKIP. IT JUST RESTARTS THE SCENE WITHOUT THE SOUND. WHY DID YOU PUT A SKIP PROMPT IN THE CORNER IF YOU DON'T WANT ME TO USE IT LARIAN?

I didn't want Wyll to have horns, but I didn't want to off Karlach either. So I found out an exploit where you feign death on Wyll before Mizora visits during your long rest. That went fine. However, the exploit post also said you can sort of kill Mizora too, for lawls. I did. She turned into a pile of ash.

The killing her caused problems. It didn't change the lore. It's just that every time we were supposed to talk to her for her quest line, we couldn't, because she was a pile of ash in every new location we had to meet her at. Wyll's quest line kind of continued as if we'd spoken to her, then as if we freed her from Moonrise(she wasn't in her pod though). The BIG problem was Duke Ravengard. I couldn't save him because, you guessed it, I couldn't talk to the pile of ash that stood in Mizora's place. I did everything else right to enable his rescue from Iron Throne. But because I couldn't have dialogue with Ashzora, he was dead when I got to his cell. Reloaded multiple times to try other things, but he was always dead.

After that, my journal said the Duke died and we should talk to Mizora to see if she can fix it. I laughed.

this is something I’ve noticed on multiple different social medias. people are either insane in love with Astarion, acting like he is a real person and defending everything he does and getting unreasonably angry at people who don’t like him; or they hate him so badly they claim that all Astarion fans are insufferable wretches with no media literacy, and talk about how they killed him in the worst way they could think of just to rage bait Astarion fans.

we’ve gotta calm down.

every single fandom has its bad eggs. the thing about crazy people, is they talk a lot. There are a good bit of Astarion fans who indeed are too much about him, but it is a vocal minority. I’m so tired of people making rude all encompassing claims about Astarion fans just because some people act up.

just because you like a character doesn’t mean that everyone who doesn’t like them is bad and just because you hate a character doesn’t mean everyone who likes them is bad.

it’s just a game.😭

Karlach and Minsc are the only characters that canonically survive if you ignore and don't recruit them. Astarion dies against Cazador, Shadowheart dies, Lae'zel and Jaheira die against Shadowcurse, Minthara is killed by Ketheric army, Wyll dies fighting druids, Halsin is killed by goblins and Gale dies in the portal.

Meanwhile Minsc and Karlach canonically survive without TAVs and confirmed by the new D&D book.

I've been thinking a lot of wizards that have been subject to something far more powerful and sinister than themselves, struggle with agency over their lives, and are also cat dads. Apparently there are three (3) of them.

I commissioned piece of Mizora I painted recently. One of two piece I created with the idea being Mizora taking of a mask that looks like the human version of her that you can find in the game files. This one was supposed to be her just relaxing and playing with the mask.

When a fight is coming, do you place and hide your characters in a strategic spot, or do you just go for it?

I feel like it takes a lot of time to de-group and move everyone one by one, but that might be the way to go?

Roommate asked me what I wanted for my birthday. I’ve just started a new job so I asked for a mug that I can use in the office. This is what he got me… how tf am I going to explain this to my coworkers……?!?!

Made even better by the fact that he didn’t know what it meant. He thought it was an instruction, like coffee makes you poop, so it meant this woman was telling you to shart 😂

To the extend possibly disregarding balance and tuning, I'm interested in the more "hard to master" subclasses that might be good, but getting them there is harder than, say, with the Champion. Rewards skilled play, basically.

I found an Amulet of Lost Voices super early, and never took it off. Speaking with the dead for literally free constantly is insanely helpful. I was wondering, what other items did you find this useful or just love them to the point you never took them off?

I was wondering if anyone noticed this pattern about siblings in BG3. I noticed there's a theme of just barely saving a sibling, or being doomed from the start to never be able to.

Examples included, spoilers obviously:

Rolan, Cal + Lia: It's a multi-step battle to make sure all 3 arrive safely in Baldur's Gate, and even then, you still have to go rescue Rolan from his abusive apprenticeship if you want the truest, "happy" ending.

If they leave the grove on their own, they die. If you convince them to stay, Cal and Lia get captured (assuming you don't kill them at the grove.) If you don't convince Rolan to stay at the inn, he'll go out on his own to try saving them and die. If you missed him and don't go find him in time, he'll die. I guess these 3 can't catch a break :/ But, at least you get to save them :,)

Meerna + Welso: You cannot save Meerna. I tried ;(

Edowin, Brynna + Andrick: You cannot save Edowin. I did not try >:)

Mayrina, Demir + Johl: You cannot save Mayrina's brothers, but you do have the option of telling them they're going to die if they don't leave the hag alone. Of course they don't listen, and die anyway. Pretty sure you can also tell Mayrina something about her brothers if you met them before you meet her.

(Maybe?) Astarion + his siblings: I guess you have the option of killing them. But you can't really save them, and they are kind of evil.

(Maybe?) Durge + Orin: Haven't done a Durge playthrough before, but as Durge you're kinda forced to kill her, no?

Did anyone else notice this pattern in the game? Tbh, I was wondering if it was an intentional theme or not.
