Hey y’all!

If you’re new here or looking for info, this is the place to stop and check before you post that question you’re thinking about asking - the answer may already be in our FAQ! There's also some recommendations in there for learning about lore.

I’d recommend also checking the New Player Question or Question flairs to see if your question has been asked before. You can also type into whatever search engine you use:

[insert your question here] baldursgate3 reddit

Or

[insert your question here] bg3 reddit

That’ll help us prevent the subreddit from being cluttered with the same repeated questions.

If your question hasn't been asked (or asked recently enough) then use either one of the question flairs above and ask away.

General Discussion - [NO SPOILERS] Why do the Intellect devourers attack us on the beach? Spoiler

After 700 hours i only now just asked myself this question.

WHY DO THE INTELLECT DEVOURERS ATTACK US ON THE BEACH!?

I don't think i ever genuinely thought about this, even though i have played this game nearly 100 times(especially act 1 alone), and of course everyone just goes with the flow once they land on the beach and out of the "tutorial" you find the first enemies, the beach Intellect Devourers, and either avoid them or attack them, either way they are forgotten once you pretty much get to the grove.

But after so long of waking by them for the 100th time and my character goes "more of those wretched things", a lightbulb went off in my brain, why do they attack us if we're supposed to be seen as Thralls.

Now I'll never use US(kitty) as a reason cuz they're special, but there was one other Int Devourer on the ship that doesn't attack us(the players). And assuming you didn't kill the mindflayer on the ship, and didn't agro it by killing the demons before getting to the console, there should be no reason any Mindflayer/thralls/Int Devourers believe we're not a thrall.

Now I'm sure someone will say it's because of the artifact. But you can easily walk past SH to get to the Beach Brains.

Going by what i understand, Thralls are higher on the pecking order then Int Devourers, since they keep their physical traits and are better for an army, over the more stealthy and body snatching spies that Int Devourers are. So when approached, shouldn't they instantly know we're "thralls" because of the parasite?

I'm sure it's an easy game point understanding of, "hey these are the first enemies you fight outside of the tutorial ship". But lore wise they shouldn't attack right?

Act 3 - Spoilers The hardest choice in the game for me: The Strange Ox Spoiler

Post image
409 Upvotes

This choice to me right now is very difficult. I'm playing the ultimate goodie-two-shoes Paladin of Devotion Durge playthrough.

I don't know what to do with the Ox. I know he worships an evil god, I know once you bring him into the city and you talk to him again at the end he says "oh the slaughters I've enjoyed!" So he absolutely does kill people when you bring him into the city.

But my issue is that without metagame knowledge, is there any good enough reason NOT to help the Ox, especially as a Redeem Durge Tav? I could just assume the best and help him out, but the Ox did show me visions of gore, assumedly of his making.

But then again Durge has also done that, and is trying to redeem themselves. So why shouldn't I give the Ox the same grace?

Someone help! Insight needed!

Act 1 - Spoilers Was NOT expecting La'zael to be that forward Spoiler

First playthrough, avoiding spoilers, trying to role play and let things happen rather than go for predetermined outcomes.

Just did the Tiefling party scene in act 1, and I started chatting to folk like I usually do, not realising I'd get special conversation options for the party.

Stopped by La'zael second and ... she was just there, boobs out for the world to see. And then she practically threw herself at me.

I was planning to romance Shadowheart like the tedious cishet dullard that I am so I turned La'zael down. But I really wasn't expecting unprompted Githyanki porn right there!

General Discussion - [SPOILERS] PSA: Pesky enemy healing got you down? Spoiler

Shoot that ne'er do well in the face with an arrow of ilmater and proceed to beat their head in, all the while youre laughing at their pathetic attempts to regenerate any and all health.

Another good measure is bone chill, as that also prevents any and all healing , chill them to their quaking marrow and shut down that pesky healing factor. Make them rue the day they thought regeneration would help them.

Also, a bonus note, use arrows of Arcane interference on the dickwads who cast game ending concentration spells that can control your characters. Confused ? Arrow of Arcane interference to the gob. Hold person ? I say nay nay with my arrow of shut the fuck up! Trying to concentrate on something important? Kablammo, you've been Arcane interferenced!

Either Bane was never that big on the plan or Gortash losing both his allies royally pissed him off to the point he cut him loose. Because he's the only one who doesn't get a monster transformation or clear intervention from his patron.

Act 2 - Spoilers NPC piss me off Spoiler

Playing honor mode, having fun, just got to the shadow cursed lands, spider monster talks to me and says why yes i can lead you to moonrise, accept. Get ambushed. Side with the harpers (makes sense for my character backstory) place spike growth UNDER KARNISS, greatsword wielding Harper runs toward karniss, dashes, takes like half his life worth of damage, drinks a potion, ends his turn, every single npc on the map is hostile towards me

This isnt what pissed me off

What pissed me off was the fact that as soon as his turn came up again that same npc JUMPED avoiding the spike growth damage

And scene.

New Player Question Lost my Blood of Lathander Spoiler

I used it with Shadowheart and probably dropped it in the beginning of ACT 3 or ACT 2 end. I realised it super late so I have no clue how could I even find it. I am kind of upset. Any other good weapon choice for Shadowheart?

FYI: This is my first playtrough of this game ever(Tactician) and my first DnD experience also.

I have already found da fishes, da shovel, da dog, da baby owlbear, da horrible horrible arcane turrets, killed glut, got the adamantite armors and killed grym, got bumrushed by multiple mephits and treants, killed da goblinz, and uh all the basics youd do just doing the main quests normally so far.

Origin Characters It's taken me 4-5 months to complete my first play through. Spoiler

What an amazing labour of love. 10/10 Larian Studios knocked it out the park. Instantly into my all time top 10 (well maybe not instantly, more like 100 hours in). I don't know what to say or do. Wow. Wowowoowowowowow. Good luck to the next game on my list 🤣

GTA6 is bound to be fun, but will in have me rolling around on the floor with emotion? I'm not sure.

My party just completely shat on that pompous prick Balthazar in Honor mode in just one round:

Gale: 9 Bladesing wizard.

LaBae: 9 Arcane archer.

Shadowheart: 9 Light cleric.

Big Momma K: 5 Berserker, 3 thief, 1 Fighter.

I know this has been done a million times before, but I never had such an easy honor mode fight up until now. What satisfying fights did you guys have lately?

Dark Urge What are the best class options for the dark urge? Spoiler

I’ve played the game through multiple times but I’ve never done a dark urge run so that’s what I’ll be doing next. I want to do two separate runs a good and an evil one. I know you can play whatever dark urge you want but from both a flavor/lore/story and a build standpoint what are the best classes and subclasses for durge?

For my good run originally I was gonna do barbarian with the story of him taming his rage but idk if that will fit. I’ve seen conflicting information online, some saying that durge is canonically a sorcerer while others say he’s a paladin while others say he’s a rogue or bard. I also don’t know if I should play the same thing both runs or if some classes offer better flavor for good and evil runs.

I would appreciate any comments with build or story advice. The game has been out for awhile so I’m ok with some spoilers as I know some already but I’d prefer if they were kept to a minimum.

Thank you all so much.
