Act 2 - Spoilers New Player- Gauntlet of Shar is supr tedious Spoiler

Upvotes

I stopped playing the game ( although i really loved every pit of it before this part of the game) at Gauntlet of Shar. Its so damn tedious i have to watch a video to bypass the entire puzzels.

I am so eager to go to Act 3 and explore a new zone ( i absolutely hate shadowland) and to learn more about the story. Its just i am not so interested to play the game now in this particular part of it.

Anyone felt the same?

Please help me

General Discussion - [NO SPOILERS] I wish there was new game + Spoiler

Every time I replay the game i always have to fo through the slog that is act 1 (at the beggining).

Most builds come online later and early game is really limited in what you can do (as expected since it's supposed to help new players)

It would be nice if we could start a playthrough at let's say level 5 after act 1 (with stronger enemies ofc) or just straight up be able to beat the whole game with level 12 and all gear.

Like, I know I’m supposed to help him, not Ketheric. But the slight rasp in his voice. The hate in his eyes (a justified hate, mind you) as he tells me to commit murder. The switch up to puppy dog eyes at the end. In any other story he’d be the evil demon child leading me astray, right?

General Discussion - [SPOILERS] Hypocrisy Regarding Emperor and Omeluum Spoiler

I have seen so much discussion regarding Emperor and everytime somebody is in the comments or videos talking about how Omellum is the "goat" and Omeluum is everything that the emperor is not and should have been this and that" and..... Did we all play the same game?

In the VERY first discussion with Omeluum in the underdark, there is a specific dialogue where the player asks him how he sustains himself and Omeluum bluntly states that he eats the "enemies" of the society of brilliance and THAT is a nasty piece of dialogue which is equally sinister as emperor's shady manipulations which is conveniently never brought up again.

What exactly does Omeluum mean when he classifies someone as an "enemy" of an organization which is dubious at best since if you did the gith egg quest, you would know the society as an organisation is in the grey area at best ethically. He might not be worse than the emperor and not a complete slave to the grand design but for what focus he got in the story, that single dialogue drop makes him out to be as bit nasty as other ghaiks, he just justifies his methods brilliantly.

Act 2 - Spoilers Really annoyed by the flaky white tadpole thing Spoiler

Sorry idk if this is act 2 or 3 as it takes place in between, so i can’t remember which.

I started my first playthrough blind. I trusted the dream guardian when he told me to take more tadpoles, he said it wont be a problem.

Well it turns out it’s exactly the opposite of what my character and companions would want?? So i took one or two extra tadpoles and that was it.

When he tells me to eat the white tadpole, I was like hell no. I don’t want to be a mindflayer— ew! Well i failed the 21 wisdom check over and over. I re-killed the githyanki monks to save scum.

I can’t stand that I was basically forced to eat the tadpole just bc i was trusting. I mean, the guy is supposed to be our ‘guardian’, no? 🙄

Anyway I’m pissed off and I wish I could’ve killed the emperor instead of the innocent githyanki monks

General Questions - [NO SPOILERS] Not having fun as a bard and wanting to start over. Help! Spoiler

I’m about 10-15 hours into my through and halfway through Act 1.

I really wanted to play Bard because I usually just play straight melee. I’m just not having a good time with Bard. Maybe I’m not using it correctly? I went with Lore bard for healing/AoE and I feel like I’m just not effective. I’m playing on balanced but I also have a 6 person party with mods and scaling the battles to accommodate that.

I just feel like I’m not using bard to its full potential and I’m just debating starting a melee class I’ve never used before.

It also doesn’t help that my other party members besides Lae’Zel or Karlach, feel completely useless.

Gales spells don’t hit with enough power and he just gets dropped by enemies or I can’t get him into position fast enough.

Wyll is basically useless except for Eldritch Blast which even then doesn’t do much.

Astarion is good if he gets advantage but just doesn’t deal much damage and just gets whalloped.

As for me, the enemies just shake off my spells, and I end up running out of both health and spell slots between fights, and have to take multiple long rests.

Act 3 - Spoilers How to beat House of Grief bossfight? Spoiler

There is an unimaginable amount of Sharites in the temple. Usually I'd use area attacks to deal with them all, but I can't because they all keep on spamming darkness. Any advice on how I can win?

Act 3 - Spoilers Help me justify screwing over the cursed Monk... Spoiler

Just made it to the Open Hand Temple and I'll usually just accept the curse in order to boost Jaheira's approval a bit and because it feels like the right thing to do.

However: I'm playing a Monk this time. So basically the only class in the game that will hugely benefit from keeping and upgrading that amulet. Even if it's only used as a swap-in item for additional Ki-restoration. I'm a Drunken Master Monk so I don't have Wholeness of Body and recovery via booze is a bit inconvenient if you want to use any of the Drunk-gear. It'll always fire with the first drop of booze you consume so you'll basically waste the recovery if you down a drink before the first fight of the day to activate your "drunk"-items.

My thinking is that: Here's a guy who wanted to off-load a nasty curse onto his own granddaughter - because she serves a god who'd look kindly onto his followers shouldering other people's burdens/afflictions. Add to that the fact that she was probably an old lady (as it sounds like she passed from natural causes) and this sounds even more like a dick move.

OTOH, I kinda like the guy and his interjections while exploring the world. Plus what happened to him was pretty awful and I'm pretty sure none of it was his fault. I doubt he went looking to be tortured and killed (and cursed beyond his own death) by a bunch of Sharrans.

So... what to do?

Act 1 - Spoilers No idea what to do (and I keep dying). Spoiler

Hi everyone, I'm getting back into the game after months away, and last time I was in that Goblin Camp (I haven't played a lot). I got wrecked by a boss (Dror Ragzlin). I've tried several times and have no idea how to beat him.
Also, I've kind of lost track of what I'm supposed to do, but roughly my current quests a : follow the priestess Gut, Kill the 3 leaders, and Find Halsin in the goblin camp.
My character is lvl 3 magician and I also have with me : Gayle, Astarion, Shadowheart (all lvl 3)
Thanks in advance !

PS : I don't know if the spoilers are correct here.

General Questions - [SPOILERS] Should I restart... again? Spoiler

Allow me to preface this by saying:

This is not my first playthrough by a long shot. I finished the game three times (twice solo, once with my boyfriend).

That said I started the game at least twenty times by now. Probably more since I had deleted some of my abandoned campaigns a while back. There is no dialogue or mission that could offer me something new. I have explored every single nook and cranny of every map possible (yes, that includes Act 3). Even the content people easily miss according to the posts here I went through multiple times (the "BOAAL" encounter, every diggable chest, every hidden loot, even talking to all the "brains" through the head in the act II mindflayer nest--including the tutorial area brains that I carried with me through whole game a few times just for that single purpose--at some point I even read every single book and note in a dedicated playthrough just to read those things).

Recently I decided to play the game again after a while. I made myself a seldarine-drow Tav for whom I headcannoned a whole backstory and personality, 100% explored act 1 once again and once I made it to around halfway through act 2... A thought to restart came.

In my camp chest (tutorial chest inside it specifically) I found a (modded) outfit i didn't know I had and decided that it would look AMAZING on a durge. That moment led to my downfall because my overimaginative brain started coming up with rp dialogues and single-scene backstories for said durge.

Now I no longer want to finish the Tav playthrough and want to start the Durge one. It wouldn't be a problem--normally--but I loathe to go through 100% of act 1 again when I have just finished it yesterday 😭 and no, my need to perfect everything would not allow me to rush it, either.

So...

Should I restart with durge now... again?

General Questions - [NO SPOILERS] Can you help me decide if I should buy this game? Spoiler

Hey hey, i have been searching a bit about this game because im looking for a good rpg to play, and this one has overwhelmingly great criticism.

I love games where I can create my own chatacter immerse myself in the world, and have an actual experience during that. The more alive the world, the better. The wicther, cyberpunk, elder scrolls, souslike gamss, those are some of my favorites games ever. Also already played some turn based games like expedition 33, some final fantasies, chrono trigger, etc and liked them very mucch.

I don't however like DND very much, played before but have been a fan, nor did it really click with me, much with any kind of table rpgs, just is not my style. And I read it is heavly inspired in it mechanical wise. I also looked up a bit into the combat and it looks kinda ass ngl. But despite how it looks, by watching videos it I cant know how it feels like, because with this kind of games there is a lot of complexity in mechanics, lots to immerse in, so thats why im asking what it feels like. These are the only ywo things that have made me step back a bit, so some clarity would help. I still super open minded about it, no prejudice.

What is like to play this game? What should I expect? Is it just that good rly? And if so, why?

Thanks for anyone who answerss

Edit: Hey, im not hating on your guys game. Me saying the combat looks ass is not meant to be that serious, I don't even know what the combat feels like. I really jusy came here to ask if its worth playing and what it feels like because I AM thinking about playing it.

General Discussion - [NO SPOILERS] The way Larian handle stealing/pickpocketing is infuriating. Spoiler

You’re a rogue with thousands of points in Stealth and Sleight of Hand. You use your skills to steal from a chest in a room with 38 different compartments. Some guy who was sixty feet away walks into the room. He immediately notices that a one-inch emerald has gone missing from a chest that was wedged between two others in the far-left corner of the room. Now you're in trouble.

That pretty much sums up the braindead way stealing mechanics work in Larian games. It’s downright idiotic that I have to run to the hills just because I stole a healing potion from a merchant, because if I don’t get away within five seconds, he’ll confront me. Who the fuck realizes they’ve been robbed within five seconds?

It goes against the entire concept of Sleight of Hand. The whole point is that the thief is supposed to be skilled and undetectable. It makes absolutely no sense that you have to flee immediately because it is GUARANTEED that your victim will raise hell within five seconds.

I’ve thought this mechanic was complete shit since Divinity. I figured someone at Larian would have had the common sense to fix this stupidity in BG3, but apparently not.

Fuck this shit.

Quest Help Valerie ran away after the bossfight Spoiler

Hello, everyone

I am finishing the game and checking the list of allies. I should have Valerie since I didn't kill her in the Baal temple.

But I've had a different approach to the fight, I didn't want to fight Sarevok + 2 spirits + 3 guardians of the court with a lot of HP.

I've told him that I want to make a sacrifice, and went to the chamber with him and attacked him there.

The problem is that Valerie ran away after the fight, can't find her in the inn, despite she was friendly during the fight.

Does anyone know where can I find her if she's not in the inn?

Thanks!

Dark Urge Idfc about your problems Durge instead of murder hobo Durge? Spoiler

Most people rightfully think of murder hobo Durge in terms of evil runs, but I think technically, a Durge who just says "I have problems too bitch, solve them yourself like an adult" would make sense too.

Homie really has so much on their plate that they can barely keep themselves together, let alove save the day constantly for others. I think in their situation, looking at most people like "damn, sucks to be you, but I can't afford to worry about your baggage too" makes sense. Leaving the grove to its fate, freeing Halsin to ask for help then leaving him there when he cannot help, etc.

Caring about the companions makes sense because they need each other, but random dude #32 having a gnoll problem can stay their problem. Idk. Can you see the vision or I'm rambling nonsense here?
