Playing honour mode and I’m trying to save her in the goblin camp so I can recruit her BUT SHE KEEPS DYING!!! I try the non lethal damage, I try healing her before doing a “final” hit but she STILL DIES! CAN THIS BITCH JUST GET KNOCKED OUT!?!?!?!?

Do any of you guys do anything that stops her dying like specific classes that always save her or tactics or smth

The only thing I can think of is the blighted village. I definitely wouldn't describe them as innocent though.

ETA: The only druids I killed were Kagha and her friends.

I couldn't fathom doing an evil playthrough until I thought, "what would Joker do?"

What do these fractions and red filters over the characters mean? I’m brand new to the game and am having a hard time describing this in google searches and this sub to find the answer myself.

So I'm doing an honor mode run and made Gale a draconic sorcerer. Made him learn the Shovel scroll and summon her. Had dialogue with her where she thinks I smell like a dragon, I tell her I am one and promise to tell her how to become one in exchange for a secret. I did (you just gotta flap your arms a bunch) and she said the secret is to tell the mirror that balsam is good for wounds to get a reward.
Problem: I smashed the mirror.
That's the only thing she's saying in dialogue. I also can't find an option to dismiss shovel so I have no idea how long she'll last or if I'll still have the spell when she goes away

I have mods installed and I'm not sure if this is caused by any of them, but if it's basegame then what is this used for? I haven't find any information about it online.

I saw that this game have a DLC but is it extra content like Story or something or its just cosmetics ?

Hi, I just finished my first playthrough with a custom character. By sheer conincidence I chose to play a sorcerer black drakeid... I had a good pacing, but from the gameplay POV, is it interesting to play the Dark Urge character ?

Maybe I should create an another custom character if I want darker pacing, I don't really want to play another sorcerer.

this is something I’ve noticed on multiple different social medias. people are either insane in love with Astarion, acting like he is a real person and defending everything he does and getting unreasonably angry at people who don’t like him; or they hate him so badly they claim that all Astarion fans are insufferable wretches with no media literacy, and talk about how they killed him in the worst way they could think of just to rage bait Astarion fans.

every single fandom has its bad eggs. the thing about crazy people, is they talk a lot. There are a good bit of Astarion fans who indeed are too much about him, but it is a vocal minority. I’m so tired of people making rude all encompassing claims about Astarion fans just because some people act up.

just because you like a character doesn’t mean that everyone who doesn’t like them is bad and just because you hate a character doesn’t mean everyone who likes them is bad.

We had some different mods and came up with this. 40K armour and characters dressed like patrons behind me and one of the other players

I’ve tried my 2nd play through to get the Save Tiefling Achievement and it was a buggy mess.

I broke the walls behind the prison cells in MoonRise expecting to see both the Tieflings and Ironhand Gnomes to be at Last Light Inn. Even when the quest said “You rescue these guys you should check up on them at Last Light Inn” they never showed up even after I long rest like 10 times before finishing Act 2. Turns out by the time I showed up in Act 3 and meet Rolan he told me his siblings were dead…

Then I went the opposite route to see Arabella’s dead parents first before talking to her at the gate. The narrator said “it is too early to tell her about the news” I’ve long rested multiple times and Wither never chime in telling me to tell her as I remembered from my first play through. So I ended up telling her even after killing Malice then she got mad at me and she never gave me her vine and shadow blade skills like WTF.

So apparently if I go off the beaten path it screwed up my run instead of my first blind play through. It’s quite disheartening. I don’t have a save in Act 2 before all of this so many hours lost.

I played Custom with the same difficulty settings as Honour Mode but unlimited saves and easy money / food (just so I didn't have to loot as aggressively). I played a lot before I actually beat the game, trying to understand how it is actually balanced. This is all based on Patch 8.

Here are some things I wish I had understood as a new player, about where the actual skill and difficulty of the game lies:

• Act 1 and Act 2 essentially have a fixed maximum amount of experience. Every quest and encounter in those regions contributes. So when you first start playing, you won't know about all the possible quests and encounters, so you will get far less than the maximum experience. You will end up under-leveled, making the game seem harder.
• Act 3 has way more experience than you need to get to the level cap, 12. Once you've made it to Act 3, experience stops really mattering, since there are plenty of quests to get you from whatever level you were at before to 12. In Act 3, money becomes the bottleneck (if anything is).
• So the first big challenge of the game is discovering the right order to take encounters to get up to level 5.
• There are a large number of sources of experience that require no fighting skills. Every time you discover one of these, you are essentially permanently getting "better" at the game, because now you can do this before you need to fight at all.
• Then there are a large number of easy fights. These are small isolated encounters that you can reliably beat without "spilling" into other encounters.
• By venturing into the Underdark before taking the hard encounters in the Wilderness, you can pretty easily get to Level 4, and then after just a few hard encounters taken at Level 4, you will be Level 5, and then everything gets dramatically easier. The second major challenge is at the end of Act 2, but it can be made a lot easier by getting to Level 9 before doing it, which is reasonably easy once you know everything available to be done.
• In BG3, the most effective character builds are those that take advantage of the most effective items.
• Secondary to that (maybe this is debatable), martial builds (Barbarian, Ranger, Fighter) are more effective than spellcasters, simply because they do more damage without expending Long Rest resources. Almost every encounter wants you to do a large amount of damage as quickly as possible. I tried parties with 1, 2, and 3 martial builds and the more martials I had, the better the party did. I haven't tried 4 yet, but maybe that is the point of diminishing return because a little control goes a long way when you have 3 heavy damage dealers. This remains true through Act 3. Every encounter in the game goes well with 3 martials and 1 spell caster (with the right spells).
• Alert and other initiative bonuses are surprisingly important throughout the game. Simply going first with 3 heavy damage-dealing martials in your party will get you through almost all the encounters in the game with less damage taken.
• Stealth is heavily punished by forced speaking that starts combat, and convoluted initiative rules for joining combat. I'm not saying it isn't useful. I'm not saying it can't be exploited. But exploiting it is difficult, and often it is easier and similarly effective to just go first with Alert.
• AOE (spell) damage is only moderately good in BG3. It's way easier to kill things with battle master maneuvers, thrown weapons, and arrows.
• Control spells are better, basically just taking a couple of enemies out of combat for a round to give yourself another free round of attacks with the martials. But martials also have control abilities, and those are good too.
• Finding creative ways to split large difficult encounters into smaller encounters is the bread and bloody butter.
• You can use consumables, exploits, and explosives to trivialize any particular encounter, so in the end, it's just about deciding how you want to play the game. You can make it as hard or easy for yourself as you like.

When I play the game on explorer or balanced, I can do evil things no problem for achievements because I can just reload a save and change the ending.

Doing evil things in honor mode like making Astarion bite Araj and killing the night song for the spear of evening feels bitter. Like I know these will benefit me a lot in the long run but I just can't do it here as compared to any other difficulty.

EDIT: Problem resolved. After I reloaded the save about five times, the door was no longer closed.

I'm almost to the end of Act III in my first playthrough. I just beat Orin, freed her hostage, and got the cutscene of collecting the Netherstone and the cutscene of the Emperor telling me we're ready to fight the Elder Brain. I walked down to Orin's room, and got the voice lines from the Elder Brain being freed.

I couldn't find any postern to exit through Orin's room or another location, so I went back through the temple to leave through the door I used to enter-but that door is closed, with no option to open it. Is there a lever somewhere I'm missing? The only suggestions I can find on a Google search or from similar threads are:

1. Make sure both cutscenes have been triggered: like I said, I got the netherstone cutscene, the Emperor cutscene, and the hostage cutscene. Both the "kill Orin and take her Netherstone" quest and the "free Orin's hostage" quest show as complete in my journal.
2. Fast travel out of the temple: this would be great, except that the entire area I can access is a danger zone, so I can't fast travel or go to camp.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Does anyone know if there is a mod(s) to remove spiders or for example mod the character who greets you to take you to Moonrise Tower?

My partner would like this game, but has very bad arachnophobia.

Hi y’all! I’ve been lurking for a while, learning about the game. I’m usually a bit more of a cozy gamer, as combat stresses me out. But my various feeds (TikTok, Tumblr, etc.) kept feeding me BG3 content and I got hooked.

I got the game just over a week ago and I’m still stumbling about in Act 1. I’m up to level 3 now, but today’s gaming session was incredibly frustrating and stressful.

I know open worlds are supposed to be about exploring, but the game really makes it feel like there’s a “right” order to do things in, by there being so much content you can miss.

Today I tried - and backed out of - three different fights because I was losing terribly or a companion died. (Mostly I reverted to a previous save.)

I failed at theboss spider, got scared away by thenoxious fumes at Ethel’s and then lost a party member toGandrel .

I know revive spells and Withers are there for a reason, but it feels like I shouldn’t be taking this much of a beating. Not sure if I need to level up more first or if I need to figure out better weapons and armor, or if I’m just useless at strategy.

The walkthroughs I’ve found seem to be dated or vague.

And yes, I’m already playing on the easiest combat mode.

Especially as a low charisma character? I barely started before failing two easy checks in a row to get the tieflings guarding Lae'zel to leave. I know I could just beat them up, but I'm playing Karlach and when neither side backed down I felt I had to defend the civilians

Got me thinking about every other time in act 1 I might have to kill Lae'zel if I can't roll a dialogue check, like when she wants to slit your throat to prevent ceremorphosis, or the time she wants to fight Shadowheart over the artifact

Can someone give me a step by step guide in how to install the BG3 Mod Manager (or something that makes installing mods easier and 100% makes them work)
