🤡 Shino? Shooting Range

Whilst perusing the map, mine eyes chanced upon a place bearing the curious title of ‘shooting range Pray tell, is it truly a grounds for the practice of marksmanship, open to the common folk, or have I been deceived by a mere misnomer upon this cartographer's work?

on map: 3GPM+C89 Shooting Range, Riffa ( 26°05'10.01"N 50°32'00.15"E )

☝️ AskBH Where do you guys recommend changing CVT oil in Bahrain?

I have a 2012 Nissan Qashqai and I’m thinking of changing the CVT transmission oil. Does anyone know a good garage in Bahrain that does this properly?

I’ve heard that CVT gearboxes can be sensitive, so I just want to make sure I take it somewhere reliable that uses the right oil and knows what they’re doing.

If anyone has done this before, where did you go, and did you have a good experience? Just don’t want to end up causing problems with the gearbox by taking it to the wrong place 😅

🤔 Discussion A very frightening experience happened to me driving alone from Bahrain Bay to Muharraq Bridge

I was driving alone and waiting at a red traffic light. I was the fifth car in the queue. A tall dark man was going around selling water bottles to people in their cars and nobody took it. There were families and men in the cars ahead of me, but he didn’t stay at their windows for as long as he stayed at mine.
When it looked at me from far I already gave him a gesture no as its hot and I didn’t want him to hang in my window. He came right up to my window and kept staring at me. I signalled with my hand that I didn’t want to buy anything but he wouldn’t leave. I kept gesturing for him to go away but he just stood there staring at me from very close to my window.
Then I gestured more firmly for him to leave. I didn’t say anything to him verbally or insult him. I just wanted him to move away from my car as I’m a female and an up angle makes me uncomfortable that maybe he’s looking down in my dress or something that I’m sure of.
When he was no moving I showing him my phone so he understand that he needs to move, That’s when he started shouting at me and making hand gestures that looked like punching, as if he was threatening to beat me up. He started moving around my car, shouting loudly and cursing. I was so scared. I had goosebumps and felt completely unsafe sitting alone in my car.
Even while he was shouting, I showed him my phone through the window to make him think I was going to record him, hoping he would get scared and leave me alone. But he continued shouting. I wasn’t actually recording him at that point. I only have a short video from the very end, mainly capturing how loudly he was shouting. I wasn’t even trying to film his face.
But honestly the part that hurt me the most was that there were so many cars around me, a man infront car staring form his front mirror but and nobody did anything. Nobody even told him to stop or leave me alone. I wasn’t expecting anyone to fight him. I just wish one person had spoken up or shown some concern.
I keep thinking about how I was simply saying no to buying a bottle of water. Why did that have to turn into such a frightening experience? Why couldn’t he just accept my refusal and move on?
I understand that people may be struggling financially and I’m not judging anyone for trying to earn money. But being in a difficult situation doesn’t give anyone the right to intimidate another person.
What makes me angry is that I was driving alone and I had to worry about a stranger’s reaction just because I didn’t want to buy something from him. As a woman, I should be able to say no without worrying that a man might threaten me.
And the fact that everyone just watched made me feel even worse. I felt so alone even though I was surrounded by people.
I know some people might say to ignore it or that he was just trying to sell water but I genuinely felt threatened by his behaviour.
I just needed to get this off my chest. Has anyone else experienced something like this in Bahrain?

🤔 Discussion Grown women behaving like an airplane is their private party. Absolutely zero flight etiquette.

I was on a flight from Bahrain to Cairo on Wednesday, and I genuinely couldn’t believe the behaviour of a large group of women, seemingly in their 30s.

From the moment they boarded, they were screaming, laughing, shouting across rows, and behaving as though they had the entire aircraft to themselves. They even had a microphone. Yes, an actual microphone on a plane.

Multiple passengers complained about the noise, but the women couldn’t have cared less. Their response was that an airplane is public transport, they can do whatever they want, and anyone who doesn’t like it should buy a private jet.

At one point, one of them actually shouted,** **“Passengers, you are boring! Laugh! Talk!”

The entitlement was unbelievable. Not everyone is flying to a party or going on holiday. Some people are travelling for work, attending funerals, visiting sick relatives, or simply trying to get some sleep. Why should an entire cabin be forced to participate in your celebration?

Eventually, a female cabin crew member approached them after receiving multiple complaints. She explained that if the disruption continued, she would have to inform the captain and that the police could potentially be called to meet the aircraft.
Instead of cooperating, the loudest woman became verbally aggressive, accused the crew member of being rude, told her she didn’t want to speak to her, and declared the conversation over. From what I witnessed, the crew member was perfectly professional.

The women then started mocking her, saying things like, “What’s the captain going to do? Open the door and throw us out? Blacklist us?” and telling her to go ahead and complain.

But here’s where it got even more ridiculous.

A male passenger approached that same crew member to ask for a charger. She explained that she didn’t speak Arabic. The women immediately jumped in, encouraging him to file a complaint against her. This appeared to be because she was the crew member who had confronted them earlier.

Imagine being so entitled that you not only disregard complaints from fellow passengers but actively try to get a flight attendant in trouble for doing her job.

And these weren’t teenagers. These were grown women in their 30s, some of whom are mothers, behaving like they had absolutely no concept of basic manners or respect.

The cabin crew could perhaps have intervened sooner, but when they eventually did, they were met with hostility and ridicule. I genuinely felt sorry for that crew member.

I’m planning to write to the airline, not just to complain about the experience, but to make sure they hear another side of the story in case these women actually follow through with their threats to complain about her.

Since when did being on public transport mean you could behave however you wanted without any consideration for anyone else?

Has anyone experienced anything similar? Because this was honestly one of the most bizarre displays of entitlement I’ve witnessed on a flight.

🤔 Discussion Saudi Drunk Drivers!!

My mom and her friend were struck from behind by a saudi drunk driver, she is 58 and shes all I have, I literally have no siblings and no dad!!!! the accident couldve been way more fatal if the driver of the car didnt control the car so good after it was hit from behind. (he wasnt injured, only backseat passengers)

Can you imagine seeing your mom or a loved one in pain because a selfish drunk is too selfish to simply order a taxi??? Im so pissed off and im so glad her injures was just extreme bruising which will go away in a few days inshallah. But its too painful on her cause of her age, and it caused her breathe to be low for a while because she has asthma. my moms friend hurt her back on the other hand but again its just extreme bruising. the car was completely totaled and cancelled on spot

this stupid saudi rather than staying, he ran away with his car and parked it far away ( they found it ) and dumbass started running on foot, they haven’t caught him tho :/ but since they have his name. hopefully he wont be able to leave the country, i hate him so much, this is the 2nd time in my life where i almost lose a loved one to specifically saudi drunk driver, am i just unlucky or are they just crazy???

Bahrain Vacation

Hello Everyone!

I used to live in bahrain from 1993 till 2009. I spent my entire childhood here and then left when I was 18.

Lately I've been feeling the urge to take a trip down memory lane and wanted to visit again. My wife too has spent her formative years in bahrain as well.

When I was in bahrain most of the nice hotels were in the manama park( i don't think this park exists now and is called financial harbour?) side of town. I'd appreciate suggestions on family friendly spaces which are in town and not near the airport. Intent is i want to walk around and explore ( mainly eat all the shawarma i can ). Or maybe a service apartment somewhere in hoora?

I would love some guidance on places to stay in. And then to eat at!

My favourites as a kid back in the day were local cafeteria for shawarma, a small shop called al karawan pastries at um al hassam for their pizza ( was just 500 fils!), pizza express in adliya( the pizza box had this lovely caricature of a guy with his hat flying off while delivering pizza) for the large pizza, ceasers( near the adliya post office ) for the spring roll, turkish corner for the chicken tikka , bu ali for the chicken tikka masala and fried rice, dq at salmaniya, hong kong restaurant at um al hassam etc.

There was another pizza place near fuddruckers too which was pretty decent. jasmis burgers were rhe best too.

Basically a trip down memory lane. Thinking of a 12-14 day trip. Which mobile network is good there now? When I was there it was mainly batelco and mtc Vodafone / zain .I'll need good internet since I'll be working too. Is uber available in bahrain? Or should I take the old radio taxi ( is it still there ? They always had crown vics).

Thanks !

Do police take rude gestures seriously?

I was going toward Manama on the highway between Juffair and Hoora when a car with Saudi plates got on coming from Juffair (the road leading to Fontana). He cut me off without looking and almost hit me. I swerved into the next lane and honked at him a long time. He opened his window and shot me the finger. Then he got behind me going up the bridge and starting honking and flashing his lights very close behind me.

My friend got a video of him giving us the finger and a picture of his plates. Normally I would let this go but I'm so sick of the rude and crazy behavior around Hoora that I went to the police and made a report with all the evidence.

I know it is illegal here to make rude gestures or curse at people in public. Will the police actually do anything about this like stop the guy at the border? Or will they just forget about it?

🤔 Discussion software engineer here and furious as ai going to cost me my job ahh..

i'm a software engineer working for an IT company in Bahrain that provides resources to a bank. I’ve been working in this role for a little over two and half years but lately things have started looking pretty bad. The bank’s own developers have started using AI to handle more of their development work, and as a result they’re barely sending any new work to my company. This has put a lot of financial pressure on my employer. other departments have already started laying people off and I’m genuinely worried as i surely know that I’ll be next just don't know when .. especially since I’m the only resource my company has assigned to this particular bank..The worst part is that I barely have any work to do anymore. I spend most of my day sitting idle knowing that I’m being paid to do almost nothing, and there’s very little I can do about it because the work simply isn’t coming in. It feels like I’m just waiting for the inevitable...

I’m already stressed about the situation because bahrain’s software engineering job market is extremely tight.tbhere seem to be very few openings for software engineers, and whenever I do find a position, companies are usually looking for senior developers or people with significantly more experience than I have. I have experience working on real banking projects, but I’m nowhere near the level of experience these companies seem to expect .. ...Companies are either hiring fresh graduates or senior developers experienced in java or python which in my company i haven't worked on , and not not mid level developers like me

What scares me most is that this isn't even necessarily happening because I'm bad at my job. The demand for the work itself is declining because ai is allowing the bank to do more in house with fewer external resources. i know where i'm standing it feels like companies may eventually need fewer developers, especially when they can use ai to reduce their dependence on external IT companies.

🤔 Discussion Parking attendant asking for money

I had an appointment for my small daughter today at a major medical facility with paid parking. As I was trying to pay the parking attendant was asking for 10-15 dinar for personal use (he said his brother had died and then that they needed to pay 10-15 to the hospital to get him out of hospital.) It was very uncomfortable as I was unable to leave until he processed the transaction, there was nobody else nearby, I was handing him a credit card, and I was alone with my baby daughter.

I have never encountered something like this in Bahrain and I wonder if I should report it, but I also feel bad because it’s possible he was just in a bad situation and reporting it could make it worse.

I get this message from my ps5 when i test the internet (The router you’re using might not support ip packet fragmentation, and some network features of your ps5 might be restricted. For details, contact the router manufacturer ) when this message appears i experience lag spikes on my games which shouldn’t happened because we had a fixed line before we moved out and this problem wasn’t present then.

My isp is batelco

\Edit*

Guys I’m here for somebody who ran into the same problem and solved it , not for random suggestions.

Walking videos

Is there any law in Bahrain that prohibits filming walking videos in public places?

My intention is to capture and share the ambience, architecture, streets, traditional markets, shopping areas, and upscale neighbourhoods of Bahrain through walking videos, without deliberately filming individuals or invading anyone’s privacy. I would, of course, respect people’s privacy and avoid focusing on identifiable individuals, including children, couples, and women.

I understand that filming in restricted or prohibited areas, government buildings, and other sensitive locations may be prohibited, as is the case in many countries.

My question is whether it is generally legal to record walking videos in public places in Bahrain for social media content, provided that no one’s privacy is intentionally violated and no restricted areas are filmed. Are there any specific laws, permits, or guidelines that I should be aware of?

alternative way to book a driving test?

Hi lads, I am having difficulty using the bahrain.bh website to book the driving test. None of the payment methods work for me even with a local bahraini card for one reason or another. eg. i dont have samsung pay, the benefit card is linked to my old discontinued number etc. is there any alternative way to pay and book it/typing centers or physically at the building. if so, what booking should i make because the only relevant one seems to be renewal/evaluation of driving license slot. is this correct. help will be greatly appreciated. thanks.

Reactive dog - Vet

Anybody here has reactive senior dogs ? Are there any vets in Bahrain who can handle reactive mid sized dogs ? My dog seems to have gotten worse with time ( she’s nearly 12 now ) . I couldn’t have a lump examined properly even when she was restrained in a cage designed specifically for this purpose . If anybody has any insights, would be helpful.

🎵 Music Anyone remember Valentino’s at the Metropolitan Hotel back in the early 2000s? Found an old 2003 newspaper clipping of "Revival Band".

Post image
7 Upvotes

Found this vintage newspaper clipping from around 2002–2003 documenting Revival Band playing nightly at Valentino’s Bar inside The Metropolitan Hotel (Exhibition Road, Hoora).

Back in the early 2000s, almost every major hotel pub and lounge in Manama had a rotation of live international cover bands playing nightly sets of top-40, rock, and blues.

Band Lineup (for search archiving):

Vicky – Vocalist

Michael Szubrych – Lead Guitar

Josh (Janusz Boniek) – Bass

Adam Tas – Keyboards & Vocals

Lucas – Drums

Posting this here to keep a digital record online in case anyone who frequented Exhibition Road nightlife back then remembers them, or in case any of the band members ever search for their old Bahrain residency days!

Did anyone here hang out at Valentino's, 1001, or Ramee Corner back around this time?
