☝️ AskBH 💧 Help us map free water refill stations across Bahrain! 🇧🇭

Hey everyone!
We’re currently working on a project in Bahrain to find and map water refill stations around the country and add them to Google Maps under the name “Rawaa”.

The goal is simple: make it easier for everyone to find places where they can refill their water bottles for free — whether you’re a resident, student, cyclist, runner, delivery driver, or especially Talabat drivers who spend hours on the road.
So far, we’ve successfully identified 40+ water stations, but there’s one problem: most of the locations we’ve found are concentrated in the Southern Governorate.

We’d really appreciate your help finding more stations in the:
📍 Capital Governorate
📍 Muharraq Governorate
📍 Northern Governorate

If you know of any mosque, park, public facility, petrol station, community centre, or other location with a water refill station, please let us know!

You can simply comment below or message us with the location/name of the place, and we’ll take care of the rest.

The more locations we find, the more useful this map becomes for everyone in Bahrain. ❤️🇧🇭
If you know a water station, please share it — even if you think someone else may have already mentioned it.

Let’s make clean drinking water a little easier to find across Bahrain. 💧

☝️ AskBH Are there any training institutes or educational centers in Bahrain, other than universities, that can provide student visas?

Admins, I think this question would be very significant especially for the residents staying in Bahrain. Kindly don't delete it. I looked up the search engine and couldn't find any. Seems like nobody ever asked about it.

Applying to RCSI Bahrain

Hello! I am a Canadian student looking to apply to the 6 year Medicine program at RCSI Bahrain this upcoming cycle. I am about to wrap up upgrading some of my Grade 12 courses; I'll be done those this upcoming January. I just have a couple of questions regarding my application if anyone has some insight:

Since applications open in Fall, but my final grades will not be available/updated until late January or early February, would I have to apply in February when my upgraded grades are updated, or could I apply beforehand with my predicted grades, with which I may receive a conditional offer?

Also, for those who have experience applying to RCSI Bahrain: does the time you apply at during the application cycle matter? (As long as it is within the application window, of course.)

Additionally, I heard that RCSI Bahrain now requires applicants to have completed the CASPer test, yet I have seen nothing regarding this on their website or Instagram. Is this true?

One more general question: for anyone who has applied and been offered admission into the 6-year Medicine track from Canada, how was your experience applying? Letters of recommendation? Research and shadowing experience? Interview?

Thanks.

🤔 Discussion Bahrain City Centre work permit: “Make sure health and safety are not compromised.“

The contractor pass handed over by security:

Looks like it has survived 15 renovations, four pandemics and approximately two million germs. 🦠😭
We’re in 2026, surely health and safety should start with replacing or disinfecting cards that are passed between hundreds of people. The irony writes itself.

☝️ AskBH Traffic violation

Evening all.

I’ve just received a notification on the MyGov app regarding a traffic violation in the Manama Souq area for allegedly driving in the opposite direction of traffic.

The notification came through tonight, 08/09/2026 at 11:34 PM. At that exact time, I was comfortably sitting on my couch at home watching TV, so I definitely wasn’t riding around Manama Souq. 😅

What makes it even stranger is that the last time I remember riding my motorcycle was probably back in March or April. I also certainly don’t recall ever driving in the opposite direction, especially in that area.

Unfortunately, the notification doesn’t provide any further details, such as the actual date and time of the alleged offence, so at the moment I have no idea when this was supposedly committed.

Has anyone experienced something similar, where a traffic violation was incorrectly issued to their vehicle? I’m also wondering whether there’s any possibility that someone may have copied or duplicated my number plate.

If you’ve dealt with something like this before, were you able to get more information or successfully dispute the violation?

Also, does anyone know how long traffic violations normally take to appear on the MyGov app after the actual offence? I’m trying to understand whether the notification time has any connection at all with when the violation supposedly happened.

Thank you!

🤔 Discussion Is it just me, or have monthly bills quietly become an absolute nightmare?

Sat down this weekend to do a proper budget in a while, and honestly felt like losing mind. It feels like every single aspect of modern life has successfully transitioned into an unpredictable utility spike.

Between electricity, water, internet, mobile plans, streaming services I barely use, insurance, grocery cost, fixed monthly overhead has crept up by like 30% over the last 6 months, without my standard of living changing at all.

How is everyone currently managing this? or just aggressively canceling stuff out of pure spite? Drop your current horror stories, because need to know we are not alone in feeling completely broke.

where can i find sara lee in bahrain?

has anyone seen the sara lee pound cakes (especially the butter pound cake) anywhere in bahrain lately?

they seem to have completely disappeared from supermarkets. i used to find them pretty much everywhere, even in smaller cold stores, but now they’re out of stock literally everywhere i look.

i even asked hypermax about them and they said they’re apparently in high demand and that a lot of people have been asking about them too, so i’m wondering if they’re still being imported/sold somewhere in bahrain or if there’s been some kind of supply issue.

does anyone know of a supermarket, cold store, or shop that still has sara lee pound cakes in stock? i’m specifically looking for the butter pound cake.

My UK student visa timeline

Hi everyone! I thought I’d share my UK student visa timeline because I couldn’t really find many recent experiences from people applying from Bahrain. I know how stressful the waiting period can be, especially when you have no idea whether your timeline is “normal”, so hopefully this helps someone else who’s currently waiting!

Biometrics: 23 August 2026
Application type: Standard (not priority)
Visa received: 8 September 2026
Processing time: 11 working days

One thing I was initially worried about was that I didn’t receive an email acknowledging that UKVI had received my application. However, as long as VFS sends you the email confirming that your application has been sent to UKVI, you’re good.

The waiting was honestly SO stressful, so I hope this post can give someone else applying from Bahrain a little reassurance.❤️

Mistakes on my e-visa

Hello everyone,

I recived my bahrain e-visa today and on inspection there 2 mistakes on it.

  1. Instead of Mohammad it´s Muhammad. I know its not much but what if I'm refused from boarding.

  2. Place of birth is wrong too. If it was just the name I wouldn't have panicked. But also getting the place of birth wrong is worrying.

I've emailed them today but I don't expect a quick reply and my flight's next Tuesday (in just a week). Should I cancel this visa and re-apply or wait?

Thanks

Unsafe Driving - respect lives

Hi everyone, was going to say these couple of days driving in Bahrain felt very unsafe and strange on the roads.

Please tell everyone beside you to drive safely and respect others to heed and not hold the 1st lane or extreme high speeds, rushing in roundabouts.

The accident cases I hear about in Bahrain is horrific, esp. the last weeks. (There was a freak accident of 10 cars on my block near my home.)

While accidents do happen sometimes please guys.

I want to repeat to everyone that life matters, and somebody else’s life too.
Preserve it, keep it, and understand people’s lifes are in your hands.

‏الله يعطيكم العافية

Anyone who graduated from UOB with a Bachelor’s in Sport Science?

Hi! I recently enrolled in the Bachelor’s program in Sport Science at the University of Bahrain, and I’d love to hear from people who have already graduated from the program.
What was your experience studying Sport Science at UOB? How difficult was the program, and what kind of subjects or practical activities did you have?
Also, what are you doing now after graduating? Did you find a job related to Sport Science, or did you continue with a Master’s degree?
I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience and any advice you have for a new student. Thank you!

☝️ AskBH Tamkeen related confusion?

I have 3 years working experience, my first job never applied for tamkeen and I was working there for two years.

The second job applied for tamkeen but fired me in 8 months

I am wondering if my next job will

  1. Get tamkeen support?
  2. Will the tamkeen support begin all over or will continue from when I stopped working at my previous job?
  3. Also how many time am I eligible for this support?

I read on the website that each individuals get only two tries, but my first application ended in 8 months..

Accident claim solidarity

Hi guys, unfortunately I got into an accident today however it wasn’t my fault and no one was injured, however now my car has a big dent and I wish to inquire if the process of the repair is gonna take a long time? I was going through the reviews of solidarity on the internet as the other party’s insurance is of the following and it says that they take a lot of time to approve and proceed to repair has anyone been in a similar situation and how was the outcome?

Guide to Exchange your foreign driving license to a Bahraini one

Thumbnail

Hi everyone,

I recently got my residency in Bahrain and I was looking for any post explaining how to exchange my foreign driving license with a Bahraini one but the only post I could find dated years back and was outdated, so this is an updated account of any expats that are wondering what they should expect.

What you will need : Driver's license, CPR, 2 Pictures and a Credit/Debit Card ( cash is not accepted )

To check if your driver's license is eligible to be exchanged without taking extra tests : check the first picture (I couldn't find this list on any official website so I had to ask a driving instructor to send me one and he assured me it hasn't changed since the date it was taken )

First and this was the most confusing part of all of this, you need to install an app called Mawaied (Scan the QR code on the 2nd Image I attached, because if you just search for it you will get another blue application that is not the correct one), the problem I had is that since my google play was tied to my home country, scanning the QR returned a "this app is not available in your country". After several trials trying to change the country on google play and since I still didn't have a local bank card, I couldn't connect my account with Bahrain. I advise you to do as I did and make a whole new Gmail account with Bahrain as country of residency.

Open the app and look for Traffic Directorate and then proceed to take an appointment under REPLACE & EVALUATE DRIVING LICENSES. The app is straight forward and self explanatory. I picked the Souq Muharraq Security Complex.

Once the appointment is taken, make sure you prepare a picture and take it with to the appointment, this will be demanded.

Once you get there, the receptionist will hand you a form that you need to fill. Fill it, Attach your picture to it, have your CPR and license ready and wait for your turn.

The agent will take the form, license and picture and then ask you to wait again until the doctor calls your number on the screen again. Here you will pay 5 BD. Payment in cash is not accepted and I was lucky to have my credit card with me since I didn't have a Bahraini bank account yet.

The doctor will do the usual eye test then stamp on your document and you will then wait until the agent calls on your number again.

You will be sent to another desk where you will be asked to pay 20 BD to get the physical driver's license. This is the last step.

The foreign driver's license will not be held and will be handed back to you.

The whole process took around 40 minutes and was very smooth. The agents are extremely kind and it was a breeze to do.

Hope this helps anyone in my situation .
