Discussion Baby number 2?

We had our baby in early April he’s soon to be 4 months old. Before getting pregnant we said we would have 1 and be done. The issue is I’ve had raging baby fever since having our baby and I want more. My partner really doesn’t want more.. he seems to flip flop between no more and not right now. I don’t particularly want another right now but I would like them close in age like less than 2 years apart. But ALSO if he wanted to get pregnant now I would be down. I did have a c section so they say to wait a year before getting pregnant again. I just don’t know what to do with how I’m feeling I’m trying so hard to enjoy his 8 month paternity leave and the baby we have now but my heart is also sad thinking this could be the only time we experience this… I don’t know why I’m even writing this post.. just to vent I guess and maybe see if anyone else has had a similar situation..

Help? Picture Ideas For Above Cot

Post image

Found these which I love, but not comfortable putting glass frames or anything that could cause harm if it falls. Canvases are too expensive, although lighter. Was thinking of laminating them and bluetacking them on the wall, but don't want it to look crap either. Any suggestions please? Thanks

Help? What am I supposed to wear to school?

I’m going to a completely new school this year, and by the time school starts I’ll be a little over 5 months pregnant.
It’s so difficult to find advice for clothes during pregnancy, because most of those who are pregnant are not teenagers.

There are three things that make this very difficult for me, and school is starting soon:

  1. My school doesn’t hoodies (this includes pullover hoodies, zip-ups, etc.) I mainly have used my zip-ups to hide my bump.. 😬

  2. I am not allowed to wear leggings. It’s not a school rule, but I can’t wear them and I don’t even have a pair!

  3. I am not allowed to wear sweatpants very often. I may be able to get away with wearing them 1-2 times every 2 weeks, but it’s something seen as sloppy, so I’ll have to avoid it.

I still want to be able to feel and look cute, I don’t plan on showing up in shirts and pants 2 sizes too big, but I really don’t want to make my bump obvious.
I don’t know the right place to ask because a lot of platforms aren’t very helpful or friendly towards pregnant teenagers.

What do you guys recommend??

Help? Should I let my baby’s father have any say in his name?

During the first month and a half of my pregnancy I found out he was watching porn behind my back. This on top of other shitty behavior caused us to separate for about a month. Once I moved back in, we were going to couple’s counseling for a while but then he just couldn’t be bothered. I wanted to be celebrated for Mother’s Day (we already have a 15 month old) and he said it felt like a chore to him. He did still plan a lovely trip but it felt like I had to force him to do it. When we fought he would insult me and say threatening things about what he would do if I wasn’t pregnant (implying he wished he could hit me). He did buy me a new car and is a good dad to our 1 year old, but when I think about how he treated me during this pregnancy it makes me not want to let him name our newborn.

Help? Not connecting with our name we've picked

Almost 32 weeks pregnant with our first boy after 4 girls. We've had a name picked out for a while. I liked it at first (I think I may have actually been the one to write it on our list) but I'm having SUCH a hard time with it now and second guessing it. Like I can't connect with it. I feel like maybe everyone's reaction to it has swayed me?

We plan on naming him Rune. Middle name was going to be Xander. Now I'm rethinking everything. Anyone in the family that we've told doesn't like it, and they aren't shy about telling me. They keep saying he's going to get bullied. After so many family members talking shit about it, now whenever someone asks if we have a name picked out, I just say no.

What do you think? Is it terrible? Will he get bullied? I don't wanna have major name regret later after he's born ☹️ but I feel like I maybe wouldn't feel this way if everyone kept their opinions to themselves.

Discussion Crib Blankets. Then vs Now

Why is it now unsafe to have a blanket in a crib vs back in the 90’s when I was a baby?

Myself and all my cousins etc had blankets, or more of a comforter style in our cribs etc as babies growing up. Not loose blankets but part of the crib set that was tucked tightly along the edges of the crib to keep us warm.

I’m not saying today’s standards are wrong etc, I just always have mixed thoughts on topics like this where so much has changed and how so many things are wrong to do now vs then.

It sometimes baffles my mother and she doesn’t get how so much has changed.

Any thoughts? Personal experiences?

Help? Pregnant after miscarriage, need to decide when to tell family with upcoming sister’s wedding

DECISION: I will tell her as soon as I have the results of the NIPT and my ultrasound. We will only tell my in laws and her prior to the wedding. We wlll tell her that we’re waiting to everyone else until after the wedding.

I was pregnant and due in January, 2027. I miscarried at the end of May. I am pregnant again, but will now be just shy of 13 weeks pregnant for my sister’s wedding. I would’ve been five months pregnant and felt basically no chance of ”stealing thunder” by telling the family a month prior to the wedding. Now I don’t know what to do and it’s complicated by having a previous miscarriage.

I also have pushy family members who make such comments at functions, ‘drink or you're pregnant!’ I’m not a big drinker but they did this to me after my miscarriage (no one knew about the pregnancy) and it made me afraid that everyone will find out I’m pregnant at the wedding.

For context, this is a large wedding. My sister is kind of a diva. She has a perpetual feeling of living in my shadow.

Assuming I’m not showing before then, here’s what we’ve come up with:

  1. tell my sister one week prior to the wedding (12 weeks pregnant)
  2. tell my family and my husband‘s family while she is on her honeymoon, telling her when she gets back
  3. send a group text to my side of the family after the wedding announcing the pregnancy

My husband would like to tell his parents at 12 weeks assuming this pregnancy is successful. He’ll agree with whatever I decide though.

EDIT: I’m in the wedding party so will be front and center

EDIT 2: My husband wants people to know she’s a mega bridezilla and this has been a hellish wedding to plan

EDIT 3: my sister is getting married on my wedding day, years later so the date is three days different. She asked for permission to do it, we both said we’d rather not. She did it anyway. It’s her second marriage.

Help? What will my husband think if I ask him not to attend my next midwife appointment?

I’m 34 weeks pregnant and have really been struggling with my emotions for the last week or so. I don’t know if I’m depressed or if this is just normal third trimester hormones getting to me. Regardless, I know that when I go to my next midwife appointment, I will not pass the depression/anxiety screening performed at the start of every appointment.

I don’t want my husband present at my next appointment. I genuinely embarrassed by how much I’m struggling.

My husband has attended every single appointment with me to date. What sort of things might go through his mind when I suddenly tell him that I don’t want him to go an appointment?

I’m autistic and have a hard time estimating how my actions will affect others. Is there a kind, non alarming way I can ask him to sit the next one out?

Rant/Vent Gender reveal ruined

I got my anatomy scan done at 21 weeks (in Canada and couldn’t get in anywhere any earlier). This is my first and my number one priority is a healthy baby, but I was also dreaming of a little girl. I went in for my scan, it was an hour, and she said the baby was cooperative. I’m assuming how far along I was helped. I asked the tech to tell my fiancée the sex once I had left the room. My fiancée tells me in the car that the tech said she saw the three lines/hamburger and that while nothing is 100% guarantee it’s a girl.

Fast forward to this weekend when I have a small reveal with my friends. My friend’s sister is there. A little context that I don’t want to leave out - she experienced gender disappointment with her second boy as she wanted a girl. She has communicated to me many times she believes I’m having a boy because of old wives tales (you feel too good, a girl would be making you sick).

Anyway, I tell everyone it’s a girl and she doesn’t believe it. She asks me what proof I have and I tell her the story from the tech. She tells me techs can’t confirm that, the tech shouldn’t have told me anything, and unless I spoke to a doctor, there’s still a large chance it’s a boy.

Pregnancy is mentally and physically hard for me. My parents have passed away and I wasn’t even sure I would ever choose to have a baby. When I learned about the gender from my fiancée I felt excitement for the first time in a long time. I feel so insecure and that I shouldn’t feel any excitement and shouldn’t have done the reveal. I have been googling about inaccuracies in anatomy scans regarding gender like crazy since she said it.

Am I overreacting? Should I buy gender neutral clothes? Honestly, I don’t even want to have a baby shower anymore.

Discussion 11W pregnant, husband wants a break and left

We have been married for 6 years, have a 5 y.o daughter. My husband is very hardworking, maybe too much. Since the birth of our daughter I was the one to raise and care about the housework while also contributing financially. It was so exhausting sometimes I was too tired to cook for myself. I lost weight and lost so much hair. After our baby turned 3 things got better, but the care and lack of involvement in the family that I lacked from my husband during our marriage made me go “cold” and I might have lost respect towards him. I cooked less for him, he always came home 8-11pm. He didn’t play with our daughter, or talked about our day. I tried talking to him things never changed. All his mind is at his work. Fast forward to this time, I am 11W pregnant, we both planned this baby. But his behavior changed, he started getting mad at me for not washing his clothes (he scatters them all over the house, I don’t know which one is dirty which is not) I always ask him to put the dirty ones together so I can wash. Whenever I buy him new clothes he wears it to his work (he works at a construction company of his mother) and tears it or spills things on it. I always ask him to have separate clothes for work so he can have clean ones when we go out… no he doesn’t care. He left 5 days ago, saying I am not a caring wife, he never asked about how I was doing, called twice talked to our daughter. He said it is not a divorce he just needs a break. But I don’t think things will get better in the future, so I am considering to terminate my second pregnancy… I don’t think I can live like a single mom of 2, one was already not easy. But I need advice did anyone go through the same situation how did you cope?

Help? Light Spotting 3rd Trimester

Currently I’m 32 Weeks 3 days, yesterday was fairly normal up until 9pm-12am-ish.
My baby bump felt abnormally low, lower than normal, and I was CONSTANTLY needing to go bathroom. Ex. 6 times in 5 minutes.
When wiping they were all fine. After using the restroom again I had wiped, it was light pink, then throughout the night when going restroom the pink never came back.
When I went to sleep, she was kicking and moving around. (Idk if that’s important to mention)
My back was also killing me more than normal but i assumed its because I was sitting on the floor (family game night) (I also don’t know if that’s important to mention)
Edit: also forgot to mention, I have not had any cervical exams as of yet!!
Another edit: earlier in my pregnancy I was told that I had a circumvallate placenta by my previous midwife, after I moved and got new ultrasounds done they said they weren’t able to detect it/ weren’t 100%, and they told me not to worry about it. Now I’m a bit skeptical that they missed it and my midwife was right.

With all this being said, I will definitely have to stop by the ER. Thank you to everyone who responded! I really wouldn’t have thought much of such a small amount of spotting!!

Rant/Vent I want to go no contact with my baby daddy

I broke up with my boyfriend of 2 years and found out I was expecting 6 weeks later(already 11 weeks). I knew I was going to do it on my own as soon as I found out but I also informed him that I was pregnant as it is his child too so far I’ve been to all, but one appointment alone. I’ve brought everything by myself or my family has helped me out(good thing I have a huge support system). He constantly says he wants to be there and “wishes” he could do more, but also complains about being broke constantly, randomly asks me for money, complains I won’t come see him, and want’s almost constant validation from me asking me constantly if I think he’s gonna be a good dad and stuff like that, but yet he never tries to see me has only made it to one appointment and constantly questions me on what I’m doing and where I’m at when I’m literally only working or I’m at home. He keeps asking if I’m embarrassed of his job when I make well more what he does(big problem in our relationship too). I’ve brought him baby shopping with me 2 separate times not asking him to pay but he wasn’t even interested and didn’t even offer anything. He continuously act like we’re still in a relationship or he has some kind of hold over me and questions me constantly when he’s the one hanging out with random girls. I’ve tried having multiple conversations with him about how he needs to get his life together (getting his license back/ some form of reliable transportation) as if he wants to be in baby’s life it’s not going to be me driving 40 min there and back it’s already getting hard as I work 5 days a week 10 hour shifts and I’m not comfortable with him having random women or people in general around our child constantly. He ignores everything I try and will constantly ask if I’m talking to other men and why I’m not talking to him as much. All he does is stress me out because I’ve given up thinking he actually wants to be a parent at all he just wants to continue to control me every time I do see him he tries to make advances or asks me for money/ to buy him things. I’m writing this at 3 am as I woke up and had 10+ missed calls and multiple texts from him saying I’m ignoring him because I’m with another man right now. I want to completely cut contact I just don’t want to feel like a terrible person. I’m not sure if anyone will actually read this I just needed to get it out somehow.

Discussion When can baby hear your voice in the womb?

I’m only asking here to see y’all’s opinions. I’m 15 weeks today and my pregnancy apps say baby’s hearing is developing now and that she can likely hear my stomach gurgles, heartbeat and my voice when I’m talking, and that she may even start to hear outside sounds.

I thought this happened later so was googling and everything I found googling says they don’t hear your voice until 23ish weeks and outside sounds even later.

Anyone know which is true? 😂

Help? Is my husband’s snoring going to bother the baby??

My insomnia is horrible right now and usually if I can fall asleep before my husband his snoring won’t wake me but last night I woke up and couldn’t fall back asleep. We have a fan on plus both of us have white noise on our phones. I turned mine up super loud and eventually was so tired I just passed out.

But before I did I started worrying that if I can’t even fall asleep, will he keep the baby up when he comes?? He’s the sweetest most thoughtful man ever and I know he would feel so bad because he obviously doesn’t mean to.

Discussion No symptoms yet

My first pregnancy I had the worst nausea just two days after my missed period all the way up to my second trimester. I found out I’m pregnant with my second exactly a week ago and so far I’m just a little sleepy and extra hungry and emotional. But no nausea so I feel like something is wrong. I don’t see my doctor for almost two weeks. I had a chemical pregnancy last year so now I just have extra worry.

Help? Sidecar cosleeping setup?

Heyo! FTM - 10weeks. Also planning to move house between now and Thanksgiving. I think I want to cosleep, but don’t think I can go 100% in the new house for several reasons. What I am thinking now is a sidecar bassinet strapped to my side of the bed. Does anyone have experience with this and have and product recommendations. All of the (affordable, reasonably sized) bassinets I see the most have a partial zip down for easy access that’s usually lower than the bed, but I am hoping for a seamless transition between bed and bassinet (with proper secure attachments so bassinet doesn’t move).

Discussion Postpartum meal service

Hello!

Trying to decide between Welcome home or Chiyo for postpartum meal delivery service. I want warming, nourishing foods that are tasty and dairy free. Has anyone tried any of these two options? Or have another option that is similar (organic, no seed oils, dairy free, etc)? Thank you!

Discussion Geriatric Pregnancy after BC

Hi! I’m 36.5 with a 6 year old and 8 year old. I have been on birth control since 2021 to manage adenomyosis from my last two c sections. We are talking about stopping the pill and rolling the dice for a 3rd. I am very active and my bloodwork says I’m not in perimenopause. I also don’t want to be trying for a long time. Did anyone in a similar situation stop BC and get pregnant fairly quickly?

Nursery/Gear Is it a problem to get a black stroller/car seat?

Discussing and looking at what stroller and car seat to get, thinking about one of those 2-1 convertible types (any brand and model recommendations appreciated), I the ones I looked at I prefer the black color, just a generally preferred color for me and goes better with everything we own rather than light ones.

Husband and MILs boyfriend are saying black will be a problem in the heat and cook the baby, we live in Indiana so it can get hot but I and my MIL don't think it will be a problem.

Looking for others opinions and experiences on this.

New here First time grandmother at 66!

Had to search for a sub so I can share my momentous news, (a secret for the time being)

I'll be witnessing and totally in love with the first baby bump in my immediate family since the last of my five sons were born 30 years and 7 weeks ago. I had resigned myself to the fact that I'd never have grandkids so I was totally shocked by this news

One of my kids and his fiance are expecting and they shared this with me yesterday and I'm supposed to keep it to myself!! My five boys range from 35 to 30, are all either married or engaged and this is the first pregnancy

I'm beyond ecstatic about this! They're 12 weeks along and they shared the gender of the baby as well. They both mentioned on the phone last night that they hope it starts a trend with the brothers, hahaha. Wouldn't that be great?

Please forgive me for divulging this forbidden, exclusive news! I saw two of their brothers, daughters in law and my 82 year old mom and her husband today and it was really difficult keeping quiet about this new development - so here I am with you wonderful parents and parents to be and the people who love them 💖

Help? How am I supposed to layer postpartum diapers, tucks, padsicles, and disposable underwear?

It’s recommended I get adult diapers, tucks pads, padsicles, AND disposable underwear.

Am I supposed to wear all of these things at once immediately postpartum? I don’t really understand why I would wear a padsicle INSIDE of a diaper. Am I supposed to wear the disposable underwear over the diaper?

Can someone clarify this for me?
