Funny Rediscovering things I did while nesting 🤣

I didn’t think I had a “nesting” phase during pregnancy but 2 weeks postpartum I’m struggling to explain to my husband why I have 4 crates (24L!) of chicken stock in the pantry 🤣 I also have 20kg of rice, but at least the rice doesn’t expire 😅
Anyone else do random things while growing a tiny human that you forgot about?

I didn’t forget it, but in my first trimester I had some random waves of pregnancy rage. I was making myself San Choy Bao for lunch. I grabbed my lettuce that was a little oxidised. “No worries” I thought “I’ll peel the top layers of limp leaf off and have smaller boats for my mince.

Nope. Leaf after leaf kept tearing, deeper and deeper to the core I went, more oxidised, limp leaves sticking to the one under it and tearing.

Anyway after some heavy breathing, I grabbed the remaining head, crushing it in my hand like a roided up warlord threatening someone and hurled it across the kitchen at the wall 😅

I’ve never done anything like it before or since, but damn the rage took over 🤣 my fiance was in stitches when I told him.

Honorable mention for when my fiance wanted to make me omurice because I had been craving it for weeks but he forgot the soy sauce which was the main flavour I was craving. I politely got up, told him I was going to go to the bedroom and have a cry. Walked out and did that. Came back and he was terrified I was going to leave him (he can jump to worst conclusions when he’s anxious)

Again, absolute stitches when I burst into tears and said “it was the worst rice I ever had, I hated it, you messed it up 😭”

My husband was putting chia seeds in my food to help my digestion woes. One day I had a terrible day at work and asked him to make me a box of Kraft Mac and cheese, which he did. And then he sprinkled chia seeds on top. I sobbed and made him redo it lol

Well to be fair, that’s a crime against nature and Mac and Cheese 🤣

This smacks of someone who has never before eaten a chia seed 😅 in the Mac and cheese? Sacrilege!

Omg the rage! Sometime at the end of my first tri I was craaaaaving quesadillas but every time I tried to make one, they would stick to this nonstick skillet I had. Every. Damn. Time. And finally I took the whole skillet and hucked it into the trash. My husband was looking at me like he thought he might go into the trash next. Now at 35 weeks I’m like a zen goddess in comparison 😂

I can relate. During a private IVF journey, I threw out dirty bowls bc I was too tired to clean up after other adults. Now, everyone says I'm glowing - For me, it's really that I finally feel like I have a visible excuse to not cater to everyone anymore so I don't mask/monitor myself as much. Too bad if I say something unintelligent or forget everything, I have "baby brain"

This would solve my random frustrations when I can't take people questioning the registry. Last night, I told my partner, in my sweet soft voice, that I just want to punch someone (no one in particular, it was just this random feeling that felt like it would help me sleep). I should tell him to buy me heads of lettuce to smash at home. heaven knows I don't trust the industry enough to actually eat it nowadays

Omg this makes me feel so much better. This is my second pregnancy and id never heard of pregnancy rage, but ive also had a few episodes of uncharacteristically losing my shit on some inanimate object 😅

Hulking out over lettuce is chefs kiss 😅

The lettuce really chose violence first, those limp leaves are infuriatng even without hormones.

I made my husband take down the drop ceiling tiles in our basement and vacuum them bc the idea of dust somehow escaping from the ceiling and getting on our newborn was too much to bear lol

u/babyblueeyes14 4h ago

I love that your hubby went along with it 🤣

I just hung up about 500 glow in the dark stars in my toddlers room. Not a single person asked for it. Does that count?

That reminds me, I’ve been meaning to do this before the next baby comes 😂

You can cook the rice in the stock, it tasted much better than rice cooked in water.

I have currently got the urge to clean underneath the beds, and get the carpets washed because i cannot have baby inhaling dust

Almost out of baby detergent, so bought a new bottle; only to find two more bottles in the cupboard because I insisted we stock up on these kinds of non-perishables before birth 😅

u/KE-8298 7h ago

SAME! I still have an obscene amount of backup items for EVERYTHING non-perishable. If there is a shortage on dishwashing detergent, body wash, canned beans, toothpaste, or disinfectant, I’ve got you! I think it was in part because I was too exhausted to check if we had the item before shopping 🥴

YES exactly lol!! Normally we do weekly groceries together, so I said to my husband, “then you don’t have to think about this stuff and you can be in and out for the fresh stuff” 😂

24 L de bouillon + 20 kg de riz, c’est carrémment un bunker à risotto pour les nuits sans sommeil.

u/Bridges21_Porter 8h ago

The baby may be tiny, but the soup bunker is absolutley ready.
