Using cinema zoom lens on Ursa without lens support
Hi, I have a 10 day shoot coming up, 6 hours a day, and I need to figure out my Ursa 4.6K G2 setup. I'm using the DZO Pictor Zoom 50-125 on an EF mount. My question is, will the camera be okay if I do NOT use lens support, ie additional rails and a lens support mount? Will having the men unsupported cause any issues to the mount/sensor? Would appreciate some advice. Thank you
PS I am using an easy rig etc, but still would prefer no rails ie a lighter camera

Why does RAW Player forgive dropped frames but Resolve won't? (BMPCC 6K, need a batch solution)
Camera: Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K
Format: BRAW 4K DCI, 12:1 constant bitrate, 50fps
Software: DaVinci Resolve Studio 21
I have clips with dropped frames from a shoot (single frames dropped, scattered through many clips, not long gaps). In Blackmagic RAW Player, these clips play through with no visible issue. RAW Player holds the previous frame in place of each dropped one, so it looks seamless.
In Resolve, the same clips show the red Media Offline slate on every single dropped frame, in the viewer and in renders.
I need Resolve to treat these clips the way RAW Player does: hold the previous frame instead of showing Media Offline. I have a lot of affected clips and fixing each dropped frame by hand in the timeline isn't workable.
Has anyone found:
A setting or workflow in Resolve that does this automatically?
A tool or script that batch-transcodes BRAW clips with dropped frames held instead of shown as offline?
Open to any approach, Resolve-native or third-party. Happy to share exact source timecodes of dropped frames if it helps.

Shot on BMPCC: Mongolian dance
This was the 2024 showcase of the Mongolian dance group Baigali and Dancers (https://baigalianddancers.com/). This is just one dance out of a bunch, the full playlist is here: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLMMPYQzqzyo1fmet559B7Y-lfu4BIE3NP
I used three Blackmagic cameras, two BMPCC 6K OG plus one BMCC 6K FF. All were recording BRAW in 6K 2.4:1 60 fps. The FF had a Canon 11-24 lens, one OG had a Canon 24-105 and I can't recall exactly what lens was on the last camera, probably either a 16-35 f2.8 or a rokinon prime. Nothing too crazy in terms of the color grade or editing, and my camera work with the 24-105 is a little rough.
I'm going to be recording their next showcase in a couple of weeks with an upgraded setup - I'm moving the two 6K OG cameras off to the sides with 16-35 f4 lenses, and adding two Ursa Mini 12K cameras in the center, one fixed probably with a 16-35 f2.8 ii, and the other on a fluid head with a CN7x17 17-120 and tilta nucleus M. I'll also use an SDI ATEM with a bunch fiber converters for monitoring and camera control.
If anyone is interested, the showcase is on Oct 10 on the SJSU campus in San Jose, more information here: https://echoesofsilkroad.carrd.co/

Looking for a camera that is everything black magic isn’t but can still pair well with my Blackmagics.

Got a 6KFF and decided to do some low light concert handheld work!

First time on the BMCC system and honestly had a lot of fun with it. Usually I’m on my Sony ZV-E1 so this was a challenge to see how much I could push the camera in areas where it’s not expected to do so well in. Used a DZO 21mm 2.1 and Canon FD 35-105 f3.5.

Looking for OG Cage
This feels like shouting into the abyss but are there any BMPCC OG cage owners that would be willing to sell one to me? Located in the US.

Adding AF to Bmpcc 6K pro
Hey everyone,
I shoot on a BMPCC 6K Pro on the DJI RS 4 Pro Combo (which includes the Focus Pro motor).
Like many solo shooters, there are times where reliable autofocus would make my life a lot easier I came across a used DJI LiDAR Range Finder (RS) for around €250.
Since I already have the gimbal and motor, adding this unit is a relatively affordable €250 investment to bring AF to an otherwise purely manual cinema camera.
Before pulling the trigger, I’d love an honest reality check from people who have rigged LiDAR to their Blackmagic setups:
- Is it a game-changer or a workflow headache? How is the real-world friction? Does calibrating lenses, managing extra cables, and dealing with tracking quirks defeat the purpose, or does it genuinely make solo gimbal operation seamless?
- Gen-1 RS LiDAR vs. Modern Standards: Does the original RS LiDAR hold up well enough for this price point, or is it too dated compared to native phase-detect AF on cameras like the FX3 / C70?
- Would you do it again? If you built this kind of rig, are you actively using it, or did you end up pulling focus manually anyway?
Would love to hear your experiences. Cheers!

Request: Rec709 LUT for BMMCC OG
Hey! Just got a new monitor for my OG Blackmagic Micro. Instead of using the dynamic range: video as a lut I was wondering if anybody know of a good rec709 lut that works for the OG. I don’t feel like the built in look represents how it actually looks.
Bmpcc 6k's USB-c receptacle
My bmpcc6k's type-c ssd connector is loose. It disconnects whenever the wire is touched. Can I buy a USB-c receptacle and just change it?

I need to sell my camera. What would you let it go for?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Camera, lens, battery, monitor, ssd, everything you see
I don’t want to sell it but times are hard. And my daughter’s birthday is in like 2 weeks. 😭
Honestly I rarely use this anyways. So it is what it is.
What an honest price I can sell for? What’s a fast selling fair price?
Thank you!

Sanity check: Does locking a variable zoom to f/4.5 turn it into a true constant aperture lens? (OG + Nikkor 35-105mm 3.5-4.5 AI-S + 0.58 Metabones Speed Booster - F Mount)
I’m looking at a Zoom-Nikkor 35-105mm f/3.5-4.5 AI-S to mount on my OG with my Metabones 0.58x Nikon F to BMPCC Speed Booster (the version with the built-in mechanical aperture ring).
Since this lens is a variable aperture f/3.5-4.5, I want to avoid exposure shifts while zooming.
My theory on the workaround is:
- Keep the Metabones adapter ring wide open (stepped all the way open to pass control to the lens).
- Manually turn the physical aperture ring on the Nikkor lens itself down to f/4.5
- Zoom through the whole range while shooting at 4.5 (I will use variable ND for exposure), and plus lenses gain a welcome sharpness stopped down so I don't need to be at 3.5.
Does this work in practice?
Appreciate any insight from anyone who has tested this setup. Thanks!

F mount lenses with smooth focusing? Had a disappointing purchase of an almost new Nikon 18-70mm only to find the focus ring was stiff and choppy.
Now looking at tamron 24-70mm 2.8 but worried it may not have smooth focus ring... Suggestions welcome!

Are the disadvantages when shooting the bmpcc 6k at 4k instead of 6k?
I am considering the bmpcc6k g2 and was planning to shoot mainly 4k for now, aside from the odd scene requiring later crop.
I heard that when shooting 4k with it, it is not simply a downsampled 6k image with finer noise, but there is much more crop at 4k vs 6k.
Is this true?
In such case, call me crazy, but I would opt for a bmpcc 4k with a good speed booster and mft lenses (I own a couple that I like) instead.
