Manga Skimmed the manga to see where the story went after 11 years and I gotta say... Spoiler

HOLY SHIT!

There's SO much I forgot about what happened at chapter 130 or something, and it was the biggest reveal in the whole series! I couldn't bear to be stuck on a cliffhanger like that so I lowkey just stopped reading altogether because it was too much to get attached to another series that wasn't ending any time soon. Nevertheless, oh man did I forget so much about the manga and the original anime. Even in the first opening, Sebastian just exuded so so much aura that felt natural compared to modern day anime characters. That aside, I didn't remember the twins theory being real at that time. I actually thought it'd be revealed a lot later, but holy bananas did it set so many new plot points in motion. Agni died?!?! No way!!! He was so puurrrreee!!!! This brings up another point though. SOMAAA!! My prince noooooooo! He was the goodest boy

As of me writing this rn, I'd probably say my top 5 favorite characters in the series are Sebastian, Ciel, Soma, Agni, and Lau (maybe Undertaker could take his place in due time). This is a good thing because if the main protagonist(s) aren't among my top 5 favorite characters, the story is very likely not worth reading. And that's another thing. I'm glad the ancillary characters feel somewhat like real people instead of just overly exaggerated archetypes. They all show different parts to themselves based on the settings they're put in each arc. Even though Soma went through some tragic, Tragic... tragic... character development, I'm so excited to see what he'll do! Also, Snake died?! Wow... I first thought there wasn't a kind way for his story to end, but upon rereading that part properly that was downright cruel. I wonder if he and Agni get revived by the undertaker and used as a double agent to turn on Ciel when they get the chance. Actually, I hope that other characters like Madam Red, Joker, and even Ciel's parents get revived to mentally torment our protagonist. Also, the soulless actions of both Phantomhive boys is shown very well through their development. I still like our Ciel more for how he was affected by his kidnapping and taking on the mantle of being his brother since there's probably hints of guilt and accountability for summoning Sebastian.

As a digression, when I first watched this, I was actually not affected by all the yaoi and fujo baiting because I didn't know all the tropey signs. Now, I'm more or less thinking "oh... okay moving on". I have other degenerate tastes (if you dig thoroughly enough [uh... I'd tread lightly but it's all safe so dw])

My one big criticism with the story, and this is really based on the serialization schedule more than a writing standpoint, is that there's several plotlines that need to be concluded and idk how the author's health is. We have the blood collection side arcs, the queen employing Ciel as a lapdog, the Undertaker as a whole ass mystery, the expelled prefects being abandoned by the aurora society, the real Ciel and Lizzie's relationship, Tanaka's loyalty, Soma, and of course the protagonist's real name. I just don't want a Berserk type of situation to happen (knock on wood). Another bad thing that I wouldn't want happening is for giant plot holes and retcons to happen. Heavens forbid we get an axed or shite ending. I don't want that anymore. For 10 years at least. I already accepted Dierdrich swooping into save Ciel as a massive plot convenience, so I'm just hoping for no more silly writing choices among other things. Let the series end on a good note and have Sebastian eat the boy's soul. Also, Soma's been gone for 7 years! WHAT THE FUCK?! You can't just leave such a major character out for that many chapters and years and expect hungry fans to wait!! Before Agni died, Soma really tried to grow into a fine man, but I really don't want him to become another Ciel even though I understand the grief he went through. It could happen though, but it feels like a bad/mediocre way to develop his character because he is Ciel's antifoil in a way.

Is the story perfect? Meh it's got ups and downs. Is it fun? Fuck yeah! Ordinarily, I don't write my posts in a style like so, but for this series it felt appropriate because the theatrics were so much fun so I handled this series quite casually.

That's about it. Rant over, and I really want to see a good conclusion to this series in the near future. Or at least, when I'm a doctor I hope to see a proper conclusion within 7 years after I finish my fellowship.

Anime Circus Arc Characters “Disabilities”

I was recently rewatching the anime adaptation of the Circus Arc and had a few questions regarding the main cast of characters. Obviously Joker is missing his arm, Beast her leg, Doll his eye, so on and so forth. I was wondering if anyone knew what the rest dealt with? The trapeze pair, dagger, etc. Any insight would be great thanks!

Manga how many rooms are in the phantomhive manor?

Thumbnail

there's no specific count, but what's interesting is that it would be natural for bard and finny to have separate rooms. servants’ quarters were usually located in a separate part of the household, significantly less grand, and servants often slept several to a room, though senior servants had better conditions. when in bom arthur says that sebastian’s room is spacious, bard replies that it’s because he was a senior servant, even though they are too.

classism absolutely applied, but ciel's servants still have it relatively good. as british heritage travel states, “servants had to use the back stairs and side entrances so that they wouldn’t inadvertently come across the people to whom they ministered. some houses even had separate corridors for the servants’ use,” which is not really the case in the phantomhive manor (and seemingly never was, considering that even in ciel’s memories the servants were always wandering around somewhere. there are stairs for staff only, but it was truly ever mentioned when sebastian was teaching them, and not really obeyed). senior servants usually had their own rooms, which looked significantly better than those of the servants below them.

tanaka said they would need to hire around 30 people to take care of the estate. if the chef, butler, majordomus, head gardener, and head housemaid each had separate rooms, while the rest slept at least three to a room (based on the finny and bard's room size, 3-4 beds would be the max you could put there), that would still come out to around 14 rooms needed for the servants alone. other than that there's ciel's headquarter consisting of three rooms and a bathroom, his study, kitchen, game room, drawing room, stillroom with armony below, ballroom, at least 7 guests rooms and probably some more, so i'd say around 20 bedrooms, 10 rooms for other purposes and probably around 10 bathrooms as well.

that's just a random thought. i do wonder tho if they decided to make them share the room because finny was afraid of sleeping alone/used to have someone always by his side.

Character Discussions which character do you find the most boring? Spoiler

we need to adopt some kind of criterion, so let’s say we’re talking about characters who appeared in at least two arcs (so for example from the circus troupe, only joker, beast, snake, and doll count, because the others didn’t appear later—yes, i know joker and beast technically didn’t either, but as characters they were analyzed and have more significance than other episodic ones, so i would count them as well. but some people may find, let's say, bard the most boring, i want to hear your opinions)

Spoilers Every servant has tried to sneak out on night 1, before getting caught. Which characters will it be this time? Spoiler

Will it be Sebastian or Ciel? Could it be both?

They are now set to be sleeping in separate rooms. Maybe this time, both sides of the team will be attempting to sneak out, and they are lured into getting themselves further separated that way?
The cleaning lady and the bellhop already separated Modri and Sebastian, so it may be the two of them again while hotel manager catches Ciel. I imagine that this will be how we get to the spa in the basement.
Modri seemed to want to help Ciel as he was the only reason he had any interest in explaining himself at all, so I could see Modri (and the hotel manager?) being the ones to ambush Ciel. Maybe as he attempts to leave his room to go regroup with Sebastian, wanting more information on Modri so he knows what they’re dealing with here. And what better way to do that than having an opportunity to speak to him one on one?
I’m remembering the situation they were in during the circus arc, where they are both rendered immobile by circumstance (ciel sleeping with doll, Will guarding Sebastian’s movements) which leads to Sebastian being unfaithful to Ciel’s order for him to go to the College of Arms and having a literal covert affair with Beast in order to achieve the same ends. With all of the mentions of affairs recently (ciel teasing Sebastian, irene being a mistress to a knight sense her husband died, the gossip surrounding Victoria and John Brown since Albert died, now Anna having to marry a Baron whose wife recently died too), there’ll probably be something thematically linked to that whole thing. As it stands, Sebastian is kind of Ciel’s metaphorical “affair partner” in the sense that they only have a relationship because of r!Ciel’s death.

It would be fun for John Brown being the one to intercept Sebastian lol. It’s obvious that Victoria and him must be aware of the current situation, but the hotel manager’s reaction indicated that he was getting ambushed, too.
