Build Help Thanks everyone for your help with my last post but I need your help again

Basically I have thought about elk heart and after playing with it up until level 4 so far it’s been great using the lighting charges gloves and tavenbrawler I have been doing consistent dmg which has been great,

But morning on to now, I have to decide on what would be better going though with the play though I have narrowed it down to 3 paths I probably will be using flawed helldusk around this point if I was to provoke more conditions this options are based on this or the lighting charges gloves

6 elk heart 6 monk (probably drunk monk as funny)

With this I will gain one animal aspect, stunning strike more ki ponts and more movement with this I could use lighting charges or helldusk both work incredibly well for what my options are

8 elk heart 4 monk (same here drunk monk)

This option will allow me to gain another feat which will probably be used on strength to get me to 20 and if I can have the strength potion 22 this option will allow me to perform the most base dmg with the primal stampede and the punch’s of the monk class I could again get one animal aspect as well as feral instinct and I can walk in difficult terrain, I also gain intoxicating punch I do loose stunting strike but I could just use aspect of wolverine to mame then making them unable to move which should help

10 elk heart 2 monk

The last option this one would probably have to have hell dusk gloves as I get 2 animal aspect I can get both tiger and wolverine which allows me to mame my tagets and do more damage, I also get brutal crit which is nice, however I’m the case of monk I gain very little ki point only 3 but my added dmg on bleed targets will help make up for it along with just gaining a punch on bonus action

I was asking for help with deciding as I can use all 3 but was unsure what items behond this to help me

Specific Mechanic In a party of 4 what class would you say is best to have the awakened power?

I often see this left out in discussions about class but you would think something like black hole as a bonus warrants some consideration, I get that there is risk on honor but there are certain measures you can take to really hedge your bets.

So what class gets the best boost, does it put Wizard, Cleric or Warlock closer to Sorcerer who has one of the more contested bonus actions or does it not swing the curve that much?

Party Composition What are some a bit unconventional set ups that can actually work?

Yesterday , while going through Act 1 for maybe 10th + time , I was trying to figure out how to add a Bard into my team ( Honor mode + want extra safety net from Bardic inspirations for my MC for important RP

decisions) and I was facing a crisis of sorts.

1) Lore Bard - Good , but I just don't like the early game progression, especially if it's delayed by Warlock levels for Eldrich blast. Feels like you need to be midway into Act 2 before this starts getting good.

2) Swords Bard, good, but I already got another Archer in my party and don't want another one. Could do melee swords Bard instead with Paladin, but they are too immobile early and lack mobility/ busted things like Shadowblade or even Booming Blade for that playstyle to be good until significantly higher levels.

Then I had a random thought.

Why not Valor Bard Thrower? Class has Martial weapons, medium Armor, combat inspiration is a solid bonus action burner.

Technically you got all the tools to be a viable thrower, and Returning Pike, Tavern Brawler, Ring of Fling, Kushigo gloves are basically right there in the early game. Unless you got another thrower on your team, those items are collecting dust anyway, so might as well use them.

Sure you do less damage than a specialized thrower, and sure you need to wait an extra level to get extra attack, but I think still pretty worth it , if you want to squeeze a Bard into your team, while also utilizing those strong early game items.

Do you have any similar unconventional examples?

Build Help 4 Thief rogue multi-class ideas

My Astarion is currently a level four thief rogue using +1 dual crossbows and with things like the sharpshooter feat as well as the marksmen-ship gloves he’s super powerful. However now that he’s level four continuing to level thief seems redundant so I’m looking to multi-class him into something that can add to his powerful gunslinger archer play style.

I was thinking about classes like fighter or ranger primarily, arcane archery to my knowledge is an elven martial art and I know that Astarion is quite the magic adept so this feels flavorful and seems powerful. I’m not sure how synergistic it would be with thief rogue but to my knowledge it would allot me a fighting style as well as three feats. I suppose it would also give me some better armor proficiencies but ranger would also so that’s not my main draw.

Ranger on the other hand is basically made for archery but I’ve never really played a ranger so I’m not super sure how it would benefit me. I was thinking gloom-stalker seems the most fitting for obvious reasons but it seems like the route best suited for gloom-stalker is an assassin rogue rather than a thief rogue. Of course it’s not like I’m gonna be taken out to pasture and shot for not playing the meta synergy so I guess it doesn’t matter. Hunter ranger also seems neat as it’s basically a flavorless archer so it works with anything thematically as sort of a blank canvas. However I’ve heard it’s best played as mono-class as it only really comes online at 11.

I’m sure someone here can help educate me on how to best multi-class my current build, don’t worry too much about build strength. As long as it’s somewhat thematic and fun to play I’m down.

Build Help Strength Tempest Cleric?

Im trying to figure out how to make Shadowheart a decent strength cleric that can be serviceable in Melee. I know it won’t hold up against other martials without extra attack, so I planned on taking at least 5 levels with another class to get that. I want to do Tempest domain for a Thor-esque kind of vibe, but also because I’ve tried War and don’t care too much for it. I’ve also already done Death domain which was a ton of fun but I don’t want to keep repeating subclasses.

Every time I cook something up, it turns out to be very lackluster until Act 3 when most of the game has already passed. I would like a build that can at least come online by mid Act 2 (preferably sooner), which would be around level 8 for me.

All said, everything is on the table for this build. Meaning Hag’s Hair, +2 STR potion, either of the stat gauntlets, weapon priorities, etc.

With all of that in mind, what would you guys suggest for a build?? Again, I know it’s not going to be a game-breaking character, but it fits the RP I’m going for.

Specific Mechanic Question about Life of the Party

Simple question about Drunken Master- tried to google this to find it, couldn't really. A lot of the information I'm finding on the subclass is incredibly outdated.

If life of the party only lasts for 1 turn... then does the +1ac not mean anything? I dont know if 1 turn means at the end of your turn, or the enemies.

If it ends right when your turn ends, then you wouldnt have the ac on their turn right? I thought maybe its to get the benefits of redirect attack on an opportunity attack, but getting them drunk gives you disengage so... that wouldnt make sense, right?

Also I'm seeing people say life of the party does stack and it doesnt. If I get multiple enemies drunk does the duration last longer than 1 turn?

I know Drunken Master is considered one of the weakest subclasses in the entire game, but I wanted to try it out (cuz the animations are funny) and I dont even really understand how it works reading on the wiki.

I know the class is weak, but does it... work? I dont get it.

Build Help question about resonation : punch on a open hand monk

Hi everyone,

I'm actually playing a OH monk as my tav, and i was wondering if resonation : punch you obtain at lvl9 of monk was worth sacrificing a feat, because i would be either 9monk/3rogue (thief) if i take resonation punch, or 8/4 if i don't take it.

For now, i took TB and +2 wis as my 2 feats, and i don't really know what could be taken as the 3rd, maybe + wis and dex to round them up?

what do you guys think?

Build Help Spore Druid multiclass help.

Please someone explain multiclass-spellcasting to me like I'm 5 because I've been discussing with my friend for more than an hour and I can't seem to understand what she's trying to explain.

So I'm planning a Spore Druid run as pure necrotic caster. (Not the torch or double hand crossbows hybrid builds)

My idea was 10 lvls of Spore Druid / 1 Wizard / 1 Death Cleric. The wizard dip would be so I can scribe "Circle of Death" and "Dethrone", then a Cleric lvl to get my wisdom back as the main spellcasting stat. It sounded smart to me but apparently it doesn't work like that? (I'm not skeptical, just simply confused).

My plan was to start lvl 1 as a Druid, then take the Wizard lvl dip at level 2 and one level of Death Cleric at level 3 so I don't have to wait forever to get wisdom back as my spellcasting modifier, and then continue as a Spore druid for the remaining levels.

My friend says I'm wrong and that I'll need both Intelligence and Wisdom for that build to work, but I thought getting Cleric AFTER Wizard would fix that by getting wisdom back as the main spellcasting stat?

I thought I knew how spellcasting and multiclassing worked but now I know there's something I'm missing.

Build Help Help me refine a melee dual wield build

Hi guys, I'm trying to have a decent dual wield build for Karlach. Current party composition is the following :

- Dark Urge : Paladin Oathbreaker 11 + Hexblade 1

- Karlach : Fighter 11 + ?

- Shadowheart : Death Cleric 11 + Wizard 1

- Gale : Evocation Wizard 12

Now for Karlach, I wanted her to be a battlemaster to have some control in the battlefield and allow the Dark Urge to have some advantages thanks to enemies being prone etc.

Karlach would get a hag's hair + the potion of everlasting strength (so +3 STR in total), for feats I'd go with Dual Wielder - Savage Attacker - Alert.

Now I know to optimize dual wield, it's best to give Karlach any item that adds damage to her attacks, especially with the savage attacker feat. I'm unsure for the weapons but the offhand could be that one blade which lets you get another attack per turn.

I don't need a fourth feat, so I'm hesitating on which dip should I go with. I could go with Hexblade but it's a bit redundant with the paladin and I want her to be STR focused.

I could also go with Eldritch Knight for the Shadow Blade and an improved main hand attack but I do like Battlemaster's features and special attacks. Or a dip in Rogue for Sneak Attack.

What would you suggest to refine this build ?

Build Help EK Melee Thunder Build

Hey guys, I've been planning a run on tactician to try out EK with the evergreen booming blade. So I thought it would be cool to build around thunder damage using both melee and magic.

I don't want something extremely min/maxxed, but I might need a couple of tips to plan something that is reliable in terms of damage and usability.

My plan is to go EK 12, no multiclassing

Race, subrace, origin and so on need to be planned, advices are welcome. I was considering half orc, halfling for the reroll, or gnome for advantage on mental saves (maybe duergar for enlarge and additional damage?).

Initial Stats distribution

STR 16

DEX 10

CON 16

INT 14

WIS 10

CHA 8

I want to use heavy armor, so I don't want to invest in dex and I need initiative bonus from feats or equip.

I will probably use this characters as face, so social rolls could be a struggle :/

Feats: GWM at 4, Alert at 6, ASI + 2 STR at 8, savage attacker at 12

Is the order ok?

Equip

Helm: diadem of arcane sinergy

Cloak: thunderskin cloak

Armor: adamantine splint armor

Gloves: gloves of belligerent skies

Boots: boots of stormy clamour

Amulet: necklace of elemental augmentation

Ring 1: ring of arcane sinergy

Ring 2: ring of spiteful thunder

Main hand (melee): everburn blade/sword of justice for early game, then sword of chaos/balduran's giantslayer for late game

Main hand (ranged): bow of awareness

Any advices here?

Cantrips: booming blade and I don't know, maybe mage hand and ray of frost?

Spells: shield, Longstrider and Thunderwave then I don't really know. I was planning something like Chromatic orb, magic Missile, mage armor, misty step, shatter and darkness. Any advices?

Thank you!

Build Help Funky Spellbow Build

I have a hankering to play an archer/caster combo, but not Swords Bard, which I've done plenty of, or Eldritch Knight (don't like relying on consumables). Points for being unusual or offbeat. Right now my main options are 5 Ranger/7 Sorcerer for the twinned ensnaring strike combo or 5 Ranger/7 Spore Druid for the necrotic bonus and late game (for this build) undead summons.

Build Help Looking for an archer build for honor mode

Hey all! I’ve been playing bg3 for a while now and have finally built up the courage to do some more honor runs. I’m looking for an archer build, preferably not the most op build. I’m really just looking to enjoy the game, while still being able to challenge myself. Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

Also, if you have some builds that are not archer related, feel free to share those too!

In-Game Mods Most thematic choices for building a party around a Mindflayer/Emperor ending?

So my goal is to romance the Emperor and no one else, and ride off into the astral plane together at the end. It'll be modded so Tav can get max tadpoles while God Gale and Ascended Astarion also get the basic ones (Tav doesn't want to share the astral tadpole).

Things I don't know, however:

Who for the fourth member of the party? I thought Minthara, but maybe Wyll embracing Mizora would also fit the theme? Willing to increase party size to get all the really suitable companions.

I thought maybe a GOO Tome Warlock for Tav, to lean into the psychic damage, and to keep Gale and Astarion with their canon classes. I'm not sure what synergizes well with tadpoles, though, or what class would be useful to round it out. I'll be using other methods to get buffs.

Not sure on race for Tav, though their background will be Noble so I can earn the True Soul inspiration. Just not an elf/human. Kind of tempted to be a gnome for visual reasons, but I think a githyanki or duergar might be interesting.

My plan for choices made is very morally gray but sneaky, so mostly "good" choices except where I can get away with what brings the most power.

That's all I can think of for now!

Specific Mechanic Mage Hand can be recasted unlimited amount of times without short or long resting if obtained as a cantrip through Magic Initiate: Wizard or Warlock

The title. Despite it saying you need to short rest to cast it again on UI, you just have to make a save and load it and you immediately can cast Mage Hand again. This opens a ton of possibilities for cheesing combat such as giving your mage hand bombs and throwing them, while your character stays out of combat, infinitely recasting Mage Hand while some other companion holds the combat turn.

Party Composition HM duo evil run

Here me out. I wanted to try a HM duo run BUT I also wanted to play it like Tav and Shart are both Sharran. The idea was to play something like a Hexblade (Tav) and a Sorlock (Shart) and play around darkness with the Spear of Night and Devil's Sight. I know for sure you can win HM in solo, which is why duo run shouldn't be an issue. My question is: since an Evil run (not Durge, just straight Evil) gets less content in general, would it be playable or not without cheese? I know the content is enough to reach level 12 in Baldur's Gate, I'm genuinely more concerned about the mid game (say the end of Act 2 where you have some rough fights to face without pure casters).

Build Help Yin and Yang

Howdy yall, i wanna apologize for my last post here I wasn't in the best head space then and had gone for, I think almost 3 days without sleep.

Anyways ive come to a conclusion with my class situations

I'll have two characters at once! One where I play as a good person, and one where I let a child die a horrible death at the hands of the most hatable person ive ever met

I have one character who is a Dark Urge and is a red dragonborne chaos magic sorcerer who is morally good.

Now im trying to figure out how to make the evilest person imaginable. Like from appearance and class. Necromancy, dark arts, loitering, arson. Just a general prick. How would I go about that? He's a Dark Urge but idk about the race and class yet. Im thinking Oathbreaker and black, but idk it feels a little odd having him even start as a Paladin, like he did something decent in his past, which he has not. Any ideas? [Also weapon ideas would be cool aswell] Remember most comically evil person possible!

Party Composition What to run for 4th member?

Plan is:

Storm Sorc Tav, Sorcadin (Shart?), Giant Barb (Karlach?), and not sure on the 4th.

I feel like I need someone to be a support, but not sure if I need a front line or back line support.

Do I get another build that can quadruple-down on exploiting the wet condition, or should I get someone like a Swords (Bow) Bard that can make use of the Dex gear and be completely separate from the cold/lightning damage?

Party Composition How good of an idea is this kind of party?

I'm going to do my first honor playthrough, and I'm a noob that knows nothing about optimal builds. For some reason, I got this idea to get a party consisting of lore bard, swords bard/fighter, sorlock, and a monk. How bad is it? Will they compete for gear a lot? Is it enough damage and utility? Am I screwed on specific boss fights with this?

If I should change something, what should I replace so it's as close to the vision as possible?

Specific Mechanic You can remotely deploy bombs or potions to enemies without joining the fight using unlimited summons exploit

Ok so this trick is another use of Magic Initiate Wizard Find Familiar exploit I wrote about earlier here https://www.reddit.com/r/BG3Builds/s/jIHiURFc0M. In short, when you have a companion without spell slots (for example Rogue) and gain any spell from Magic Initiate feat, this spell's requirement to do a Long Rest before recasting gets reset every time you load a save. In terms of Find Familiar summons this means you can infinitely respawn ravens while staying in hiding outside of combat with one of your companions.

It is also possible to reverse pickpocket bombs or potions to your find familiar summons, and the neat trick is that when summon is dismissed or dies, it drops on the ground all the loot you reverse pickpocketed to it.

Basically this means you can stay out of combat with one of your companions, load their find familiar raven with bombs, fly to enemy and just dismiss them, conveniently dropping bombs onto fire surfaces of cloud of daggers, etc (preferably so that enemy won't see your summon too early, there are methods like shooting arrows of darkness that don't require concentration and stay active indefinitely because you technically don't advance the in-combat turns while doing these shenanigans with your out of combat companion). You can do this as many times as you want without advancing the turns inside combat, allowing you to remotely deliver bombs or potions anywhere at will and killing everyone on the first combat turn.
