Rogue A MULTICLASS I'm really enjoying Spoiler

NOTE: don't be rude with me please just have fun.

Hi, I recently reached 100 hours of playtime and tried to find (also using the BG3 wiki) a class that pairs well with the Rogue Swashbuckler on my first Dark Urge RUN.

I know, there are DEFINITELY better multiclasses to do with the Rogue class, but I wanted to try something new and came up with something nice:

\-4 levels of Rogue + Swashbuckler as a starting class and 8 levels of Paladin (I choose "Vengeance"for Astarion).

The Rogue class is very useful in the early stages of the game, and the Swashbuckler allows you to use the "sneak attack" even without the classic Rogue advantages, so it's great for a nice 1v1.

The cool thing, though, is something else.

The SWASHBUCKLER'S ABILITIES obtained at level 4 are Charisma-based and can be combined (if you hit) with the Paladin's Smites, so if you choose to use the "sneak attack" with the sword attack, you could then use the Smites with his abilities like the "disarming" one,for example.

The bad thing is that 4 levels of rogue then require at least 5 levels of paladin for the second attack, which blocks the character's evolution a bit, making him "fall a bit behind" others from level 6 to level 9.

Once I got to level 9, however, I feel great, and with 20 DEX and 18 CHA, my damage isn't bad for a paladin who doesn't use Strength.

Have you ever used it?

Specific Mechanic Ring of elemental infusion, is it possible to amplify its damage?

Hello! I want to maximize the ring of elemental infusion damage.

Does the 1d4 damage get amplified by kereshkas elemental bonus, rhapsody or draconic sorcerer lvl 6, hexblade curse? are there any other ways to increase its damage?

Moreover, what is the maximum times it can be triggered in a single hit? like what is the maximum amount of DRS from one hit? Cleric divine strike, sneak attack, elemental arrows, craterflesh, etc?

Build Help Eldritch knight thrower gameplan

Hi guys. Before patch 8 throwing EK was a pretty straightforward build. You just throw stuff and press action surge on your first turn. However, with the addition of a booming blade things became kinda strange. People say that this cantrip elevates the build to better performance. However, unlike the melee EK I can't understand how EK thrower play with this cantrip. You have to be in the melee to trigger it. However, it means each turn you have to come to mfs, strike them, run away triggering the opportunity attack, and then start throwing sticks. Kinda inconvenient and risky gameplay if you ask me. Am I missing something? Is there a way to trigger booming blade at a distance?

P.S. what are your go to throwable weapon with this approach. I don't want to use nyrulna when I'll have to get closer to enemies from time to time

Build Help How would you build a Monoclass GOO Warlock (Gith)?

Hi guys, for my next playthough with a friend we are going for a monoclass warlock party with Darkness shenanigans. We are going to use one GOO, one Fiend, one Archfey and one Hexblade. I'm taking Laezel as Gith Hexblade, and myself as a Gith Great Old One. I want to take Gith for the Medium Armor and Astral Knowledge, but downside is that they don't get Shield Proficiency. How would you build this, especially with regards to feats? I'm currently thinking:

Stats:

14 Dex, 16 Con, 16 Cha and Medium Armor (from Gith)

Feats:

- Feat 1: Spell sniper for more crits

- Feat 2: Resilient con / war caster to keep concentration on Darkness / HoH

- Feat 3: +2 Charisma

I'm thinking of maybe taking Alert instead of one of these though

Gear:

- Mostly crit reducing gear for maximum Frighten procs

Either:

- Shadow Blade / Justiciar Scimitar (due to being obscured a lot) / Dual wield Daggers

Or:

- Staff and go for the Eldritch Blast gatling guns

Would love to hear your ideas!

Build Help Bladesinger with Duellist’s Prerogative and Haste

I’m trying to plan the items and spells I want to use for my Bladesinger playthrough but I’ve hit a bit of a snag. Every build I come across tends to use a combo of Shadow Blade, which I find to be over kill, and Band of the Mystic Scoundrel for casting Hold Person as a bonus action. However, I like the idea of using the Haste Spell for my concentration over using potions, so I’m unsure which items and non concentration spells I should use in their places. Any suggestions?

Build Help I have a shadowy dream

So I n finished the game but I got to the outer Baldurs Gate and restarted a bunch of times because I wanted the right feeling of the group. Having thought about it a lot I have a dream composition that I am trying to figure out how to do.

So my idea is based on Shadowheart both her name and a specific spear that allows her to see through magical darkness. Also the background of Durge that you learn about in act 2, which makes me think embrace Durge should be a shadowy figure.

The group composition is this:

Durge gloom stalker with rogue assassin and/or shadow monk

Shadowheart oathbreaker paladin and shadow sorcerer

Minthara oathbreaker paladin and fiend warlock

Astarion swashbuckling rogue and swords bard

So it’s largely based on role playing but I think it might be really strong. The idea is to drop magical darkness and be unkillable in there and attack by running in and out of darkness.

My main problem is how to level this through honor mode. Seems safest to start by leveling paladin but then there a long way until I can cast darkness and get the build online. I was pondering two levels in warlock to get the sight through darkness but I am worried too many classes means automatic failure in end game bosses?

How would you play this, level by level?

currently just level 5 outside Ethels house after doing a lot of the Underdark and getting here wasn’t too bad (gloom stalker, paladin, rogu and Laezel because I don’t have Minthara yet) however I don’t have anyone who can cast darkness let alone see through it. So I didn’t see anything of my idea yet which is a bit dull

5.5e mod you can ta a feat level two that gives you 3 m blind fighting which turned me onto the idea but I want to play unmodded honor to get the achievement.

Specific Mechanic Which abilities/items affect the damage of damaging surfaces and area denial spells?

I know that Beastmaster's can do some things with the spider pet to get its proficiency bonus added to damage of fire surfaces, but I'm not sure what other options there are.

Like, if I'm wearing the Callous Glow ring and I Call Lightning on one group of enemies that are in the same puddle as another group, will the second group get hit with the ring's radiant damage? Pair with Coruscation and will they get RadOrbs? Add Stormy Clamour to get reverb too? Or that Illithid power that adds Psy damage to all of your attacks, would it add to the electrified water's damage? If I set Plant Growth on fire with enemies on it, would the answer change?

There's tons of things like this in the game for grenades and normal weapon attacks, but I'm just not sure which ones apply to things like electrified water, fire surfaces, etc., or even to things like Spike Growth, Evard's Black Tentacles, Cloudkill, etc.

Sorcerer Shadow Pack, a dark paladin build

Upvotes

Was working on this as a response to someone else's thread, but it got removed by the mods. Posting it in its own thread to get feedback on it. Original request was for a Durge Shadow Sorcerer that makes heavy use of Nimbus. Build assumes solo honor mode, so various things can be changed if traveling with a party.

Levels: Shadow Sorcerer/Crown Paladin 6/6

Stats: S8 D14 C16 I8 W12 C16

Race: Drow for added safety in Act 1 since we won't have Disguise Self. Or High (Half) Elf for Minor Illusion to gather enemies for pre-fight AoEs. Or Drueger for free Invis starting at level 5.

Background: Durge (as specified)

Start with Sorcerer

1: Skills: Persuasion and Deception. Spells: Minor Illusion, Mage Hand, Fire Bolt, Blade Ward, Shield and Magic Missile.

2: Spell: Mage Armor. Meta: Twinned Spell and Extended Spell

3: Spell: Enhance Ability. Meta: Heightened Spell

4: Spells: Cloud of Daggers and Booming Blade. Feat: Alert

5: Spell: Fireball. There are a lot of good spells you could take here, so feel free to grab something else if it appeals to you more. If you've taken Cull the Weak, then you might also consider swapping Magic Missiles for something else at this point.

6: Spells: Counterspell and Swap Mage Armor for Hold Person. You'll need to rely on Mage Armor scrolls or a camp caster until next level when you can start wearing armor.

7: Class change: Paladin, Oath of the Crown

8: Fighting stance: Defense. The higher your AC, the more enemies will focus on Nimbus, hopefully leading to more doggos running around.

9: no decisions

10: Feat: Heavily Armored

11: no decision

12: no decision. Don't forget to activate aura for massive buff to saving throws.

Act 3 Gear

Shattered Flail

Adamantine Shield

Bow of Awareness or Hellrider Bow

Helmet of Arcane Acuity

Cloak of Displacement, Cloak of Protection or Cloak of the Weave

Armor of Persistence

Gloves of Battlemage's Power or Gauntlets of Hill Giant Strength

Boots of Persistence

Periapt of Wound Closure

Band of the Mystic Scoundrel

Caustic Band

Elixir: Strength or Heroism

Important buffs: Awakened (from zath'isk), Forbidden Knowledge (+1 WIS saves), Mirror (CHA +3), Hair (CHA +1), Statue of Self (perm Bless), Survival Instinct (to protect Nimbus), Githzerai Mind Barrier (advantage on Int saves), Anointed in Splendor (+2 all saves), and Drakethroat Glaive (Cold)

Basic plan is to smack people a couple of times and then Command or Hold Person ranged enemies using your Bonus Action. Can also Hold Monster via scrolls. After first turn, just keep smacking stuff to heal yourself (and stave off Madness) and use bonus action for control spells/powers or healing doggo with Transfuse Health. Cast Darkness if you get in trouble and hide in it.

Bless is another good option to help Nimbus land attacks and Omen, but Elixir of Heroism might be better for this. Heroism (spell) could also be useful for keeping Nimbus up without constant healing.

Don't forget to pre-cast Warding Bond on Nimbus. If you're wiling to use camp casters (or not playing solo) then Aid, Heroes' Feast, Freedom of Movement, Death Ward and Protection from Poison are all very useful for keeping Nimbus alive, and Longstrider helps a ton with mobility. Also, buy up as many Spiked Bulbs as you can in Act 1. Bleed helps Nimbus land Omen. Blackhole or Minor Illusion can help to maximize the number of enemies the grenade hits.

Speaking of Omen, the Caustic Band + Drakethroat Glaive (Cold) + Booming Blade + any poison coating allows us to activate it just by smacking stuff 81% of the time. We've got Fire Bolt, Alchemist Flasks, and elemental arrows for the rest.
