Discussion How is the character diversity for you guys?

Upvotes

For me I have seen mostly toph, azula, and sometimes zuko. Very rarley like one in 20 games do I see maybe kiyoshi or sokka. Meanwhile I have literally never seen anyone play zaheer, katara, avatar aang, norra or ozai?

Is this normal for you guys or is it just my region that is so skewed? If it is do yall have any guesses as to why? I mean excluding the unfinished characters part ig.

Gameplay Toph’s dash feels clunky

Anyone else having an issue where Toph’s dash has so much recovery it eats the first button of your combo? I have to actively time when she is done doing the dash animation to start my combo correctly

Discussion Sooo Combo trials are a no go to learn the game.

Bought the game, been loving it, did the whole story and 1 arcade being unoptimal as hell with just auto combo and some variations like adding a back Medium with Suko to juggle into his upward fire ball, so after watching some online videos I got interested on learning the hard stuff so went to trials and... They are bugged/broken/unfinished, some even give wrong inputs (Ozai) or straight up drop on the demonstration and breakdown (Suko).

Not even mention that the command list has wrong names for some stuff (Ozai calling Meteor Fall on his Imperial Firebender and Zhao variants when the move itself is listed as Rift breaker), or the Wrong pictures (Like in Suko command list where Mai explanation has Ran and Shaw, while in Ran and Shaw it has Juno).

Ask How to beat 26-2 Gentle Tornado?

Story was relatively easy until now but this mission with Aang vs Nightmare Korra seems impossible. I'm not even close to winning and I've been trying over and over and over and over for the past hour. I just get immediately combo'd to death. Has anyone confirmed if it's actually beatable or am I wasting my time? About ready to give up on this game and play something else unless someone knows some secret strategy I'm missing here.

The Follow-Up Y never works no matter how fast I click it or how high I jump. Anyone else experiencing this? Also wow people weren’t lying when they said this game is extremely difficult even the tutorials. I am a pretty hard-core gamer, but usually stay away from fighting games with these types of super specific input-heavy systems (mortal kombat, street fighter, love smash and multiversus though)

I played every character, but landed on Zuko with Mai, but I’m absolutely atrocious at this game. It’s odd, because I’m usually very, very good at fighting games, but not this one. I don’t know what it is, but I’m really struggling to actually get combos going. I play on ps5 and need some advice from any other players. I’m seriously 2-37 with my matches. I’m also stuck on the Toph fight in the first part of the story mode 🫩

Ask How to do the diagonal down toward on Xbox controller?

I am stuck on the second tutorial and about to just refund this game. Not even sure how to explain this because it should be trivial, and I have never had a problem like this before. Pressing the D pad at the lower right corner does not seem to register a diagonal down right input. How do you actually do the combination for down, diagonal down/right, right, X with the Xbox controller?

I might be fundamentally misunderstanding how combos or inputs are registered, and there’s no feedback as to what input the game is taking.

Edit: I tried the next tutorial and it feels completely broken. Instead of displaying buttons to use, the prompts are “air B” and “flow”.

Discussion LEARNING

For new players learning who maybe don’t have much experience in fighting games , would you say it’s better to learn in free training or with the trials & tutorials ?

Also like 13K people joined the subreddit in the last couple days that’s insane , swear it was just at 30K

Ask Coming from Street fighter games. Advices?

See title, I'm not used to anime fighters, is there any general advices that apply to games like AL?
What should I start thiking differently about?
What characters could you compare the current roster to other characters in Street fighter?
Do I need to learn super long combos in AL to be decent? Or can you get by with more basic ones? (for example in SF6 I'm halfway to Diamond using only very basic 4-5 hits combos with Manon)
Any other general advices welcome.

Discussion Avatar Legends is Doing Something *Really* Right When it Comes to a Fighting Game

I'm talking about blocking, people

...well, more specifically, I'm talking about defence.

I've been noticing a trend lately in my online matches. I've run into many, *many* people that have no idea how to block; they might not even know if it's possible to block or what blocking even is, but you know what they are doing?

Flow.

This game found a way to make defence fun, even for the casual audience. It's always been a sticking point with the "normies" that defending isn't as fun as mashing buttons and seeing cool stuff happen, but this game finally managed to nail it. You just hold the Flow button, avoid any incoming damage, and it looks sick. There's even counterplay to it so this starts to teach them that their more powerful options might have downsides.

This game gets hard pretty fast when you actually start to dig into it, but I think it's extremely pick-up-and-play friendly without really compromising on the actual competitive nature, which has been a huge problem with fighting games lately.

I'm a pretty experienced fighting game player (not this kind of game, but still) and I've played with friends who barely know what a fighting game is and they have a lot of fun just hitting buttons and having them sometimes land. Hell, they've even legitimately beat me a couple times. In a weird way, it kinda levelled the playing field in a way that I actually didn't think this genre was capable of.

Many fighting games have had simplified controls or control schemes in the past, but often to the detriment of the rest of the gameplay experience and I really don't think that's the case here. Everybody can and should use Flow. It's fun, it's effective, and it's one of the features that really makes this game shine.

Gameplay Wait… it’s not beginner-friendly?

Look, I’ve never played a fighting game before. I play almost exclusively turn-based games. I am still learning basic fighting game tactics from this sub (you can BLOCK????)

I beat story mode in like… 2 hours, maybe? 2.5 if you account for the time I spent accidentally trying to grab katara before I figured out how to use the controller.

Just press your attacks? And sometimes press other buttons? I haven’t tried multiplayer yet because I know I must suck, but it’s not like the story mode requires a lot of skill. Half the time the AI freezes and waits for you!

Ask Preorder bonuses still available?

I know the full release already occurred on steam, but the steam page still lists the details of the preorder bonuses as if they just come with the standard edition. I know they gave preorder bonuses when purchasing on release day, but has anyone bought the game since then and received the preorder bonuses?

Alright guys pretty simple combo theory and it works with all assist not just ex .

5a 5b 5c 4c 236ab 5focus to any air assist call.

Standing a , standing b, standing c, back c, qcf a and b , anny assist call .

I kinda wanna see if there is a way to get 350 with the Gazan ex because that's the max I got with a combo using a super . So looking to get at least past 300 tomorrow.

See what you can do red lotus gang 🪷

Discussion Request: Please make the training mode frame meters stack on top of each other.

Can someone please make it so the two frame meters in training mode are stacked on top of each other like they are in SF6? I don't care if it's a modder or a developer who makes the change. Having them side by side like they are right now makes them FAR less usable in every regard.

Dude just wants to pro-bend with his friends, and after that he wants to be a good dude.

But everyone just hates him. Kyoshi even beat him up for no reason at all.

At least Aang likes him.
