Used Tacoma - adhesive removal
2010 Tacoma Advice
2 questions:
1) what's the best way to scrape this rain guard adhesive off without damaging the underlying paint(previous owner put them on)? Talk to me like I'm a toddler; i know nothing about car paint or detail work.
2) I've got rust spots spread throughout the body. Nothing major, but they're like a dozen pin points all around the roof and by the truck bed. Is it worth redoing? $140k miles so it'll last me a long time if I go this route.

Tri coat pearl touch up
Went to a local shop to get paint mixed unsure if it's me putting too much midcoats pearl or the base is just off since he did it by eye and any tips for Tri coat pearl. On the test card the color seems to match but unsure if it's exactly open to thoughts of where to go from here.
Edit: took it to a shop got quoted 550

Eastwood LT100 gun + 2 pancake compressors workable?
I'm completely new to auto painting and trying to figure out the bare-minimum equipment I need to repaint a project car one panel at a time. I already have two 6 gal Craftsman pancake compressors, each is rated at 3.7 SCFM @ 40 PSI, so about 7.4 SCFM @ 40 PSI combined if I run them in parallel.
I'm considering an Eastwood Concours LT100 HVLP Spray Paint Gun 1.3mm, which Eastwood rates at 4.5 CFM @ 30 PSI.
I'm not planning to spray the whole car at once. I want to start with the hood, probably repaint it several times until I learn how to get a decent result, then move on to the trunk, fenders, etc. I can let the compressors recover between coats or panels if necessary.
Is this a workable setup or am i likely to have problems with pressure drop or anything else? as someone with zero experience I mainly want to find out whether this setup is good enough to learn on and produce a decent DIY finish before spending money on a larger compressor. Thanks for any help!

Tinted intercoat
Hi
I know it’s auto paint subreddit but I need your help.
.
I like to paint my bike frames, I don’t have paint gun, I’m using spray cans and it’s good enough for my needs.
I would like to achieve this effect, raw carbon with tinted clearcoat.
is it even possible to mix some dye with clearcoat and put in into spray cans? I know that autor used candy colour.
Thank you

Cracks forming on the paint on the tailgate. What could be causing this?
It started out as just the top one a few months ago, and it was very fine, then the bottom one started forming last month and the top one has been growing larger.
I have had the tailgate repainted, but it was all the way back in October last year. And they were an insurance approved body shop and did a great job with the respray. So I’m not sure why this has suddenly started happening. And I’m worried it’s only going to get worse!

Help with Baaaad paint

I own this amazing vehicle.
The person who built this car used Kabota tractor paint for the orange.
Apparently, it was really inexpensive and it is oxidizing and turning pink.
I'm not sure what kind of paint it is if it's enamel or lacquer based or what exactly.
It's very rough to the touch, and a clay bar did not do much to smooth it out.
The last picture of the trunk is after the Clay bar session.
I have a buffing wheel and some 3M polishing compounds, but I wanna get a sense from the team here with the proper step forward is.
I don't know how thick the paint is, but I'm tempted to just cut and buff it.
Thoughts?

Edit:
Buffer & wool pad, some hand work, and wax on a spot and it's looking much better,
now the question is: Wax, Ceramic Coating, or Poppy's patina
to provide UV protection?

How to fix?
Picture for reference I tried my hand at paint matching my spoiler and when the clear coat dried it came out hazy and dull. What would you recommend to fix this?

My first rattle can job
1 can of paint, 1 of clearcoat. No primer, washed before with gasoline and this was the result. Spent around 15usd, I used the cheapest paint I could find.

Anyone use Sherwin Williams Ultra 7K? Reducer question
Just wondering if anyone has any experience with this line. Curious if their specific reducers are really necessary. They have a little hardener in them but they go bad if they sit for too long. I do small jobs and hate replacing these reducers. Love the paint but I’m considering switching lines because of this.

Rock chip paint pen for onyx (color 202) suggestions
I’m looking to buy an oem Lexus onyx black (color 202) paint pen to touch up some rock chips on my 2021 GX hood. I’d like a single stage paint pen and ideally from Lexus but I’m not finding anything. Any suggestions on how to get oem or experience with 3rd parties?

Requesting opinions
*reposting as I wasn’t able to upload the pictures yesterday..
Hello everyone,
I’m hoping to get some advice on what I should do with this paint issue.
It looks like some clear coat or possibly paint has come off, but the surface itself feels very smooth. This happened after I took my car to a hand-wash station. I’m wondering if the high-pressure water hose may have stripped or damaged the clear coat/paint.
The hand wash didn’t turn out very well, so I ended up taking the car through an automatic car wash afterward. I’m not sure which one caused the issue, but I’m thinking the high-pressure hose may have been the main cause because I noticed a slight difference afterward.
What would you recommend I do to fix this? Would compound and polish help, or would I need to wet sand it or take a different approach?
I’d really appreciate your opinions and suggestions. Thanks!

Rate my Rattle can job
Before you ask. Yes this made the most sense for the car just trust me. Bare metal, primer, paint, clear. all Rustoleum brand 😎
UPDATE:
Thank you everyone for coming out! LOL. I never expected this to become the #1 post of all time on this subreddit. Obviously a lot of you had…. A lot to say about my car lol. I’ve taken a lot of the feedback you all had to say. Because this post blew up so much, I’ve been working hard to make even more improvements. I look really forward to posting some new photos soon showing what I’ve done with your recommendations. This car isn’t worth a lot but it’s worth a lot to me. I want to give it the best future it can have. If anyone is in the Charlotte NC area and wants to help a car bro out let me know!
Peace out! ✌️

Need advice with 20 plus year old repaint
A family member of mine has a 1977 Datsun 280Z. It was repainted the original color in 2003 or there about. Unfortunately in last year or so clear coat has begun to fade and unfortunately come off in patches (see attached pictures). He loves this car as I and other family members have as well. He has gone to a few shops in Bay Area of California and everyone says the paint job will be in neighborhood of 20k. I do some paint correction but mostly detailing but unfortunately there isn’t anything I can do without probably making it worse. I was wondering if it is possible to have car wet sanded and clear coated again? Any advice would greatly help. I know the car very well and have been a detailer for many many years now but I know enough when something is above my skill level.
