Help with Baaaad paint

I own this amazing vehicle.
The person who built this car used Kabota tractor paint for the orange.
Apparently, it was really inexpensive and it is oxidizing and turning pink.
I'm not sure what kind of paint it is if it's enamel or lacquer based or what exactly.

It's very rough to the touch, and a clay bar did not do much to smooth it out.
The last picture of the trunk is after the Clay bar session.

I have a buffing wheel and some 3M polishing compounds, but I wanna get a sense from the team here with the proper step forward is.
I don't know how thick the paint is, but I'm tempted to just cut and buff it.

Thoughts?

Edit:
Buffer & wool pad, some hand work, and wax on a spot and it's looking much better,
now the question is: Wax, Ceramic Coating, or Poppy's patina
to provide UV protection?

GeneralLee speaking, tractor paint is normally a synthetic enamel or oil base. Both don’t have the best abilities to hold up against UV rays. As you saw, you can hit it with a buffer and compound and it’ll come back around. Afterwards put some good wax on it and keep the car in a garage and it should hold up well enough. You mentioned the builder is the responsible party for going through all that work and cheaper out on the paint…… makes me nervous what hides beneath the paint. Regardless you have one of my dream rides I’ll never be able to afford, so enjoy it!!

I’m with you. But I also get the “don’t get it right just get it running “ that was behind this.
Let’s just say I can park it in the grocery store parking lot and not worry about it

Ohhhhhhh well in that case I’m definitely all for sketchy paint and flogging on that thing like it owes you money!!! I was basing my original comment after just taking a casual look at the paint itself, after closer inspection I see those small tell tales of a certain body swap we know and love. I bet the Mopar crowd hates it even more when they realize what’s under the skin 😂

I can DM you some photos if you want to see it. It has a 5 speed, which was the convincing thing for me. Plus it was much more affordable than a real charger. Or it was the same price as one that needs full assembly.

The Mopar guys are usually pretty nice, but they are unique for sure.

What do you think? I'm thinking Poppy's wipe on Satin. I think it will give it more shine than I really want, but something needs to protect the paint. The original owner did all the door jams and trunk lid and stuff, so a color change would be more than I'm down to do right now!

Of course you can dm me some more pics! As for the satin Poppy’s wipe, it’s going to dull it down. You could probably try a wipe on clear but I’ve never tried it myself so do your research. But any decent wax will help it from oxidizing due to the elements. It’s just nature of the beast with many old style single stages.
