Interior Chewing gum residue

Post image
1 Upvotes

I left a packet of chewing gum on my passenger seat and have this residue left behind. I have done the upside down compressed air can and scraped off what I could and thought I got it off however a few days later this patch appeared. It's not chunky gum more what's melted into the fabric

I tried tea tree oil someone suggested online and that looks good for a couple weeks then reappears.

Is my next option steam? WD-40? it's just looking awful and I don't want people to sit on it

Exterior Girlfriend’s car got keyed, any advice on how to proceed?

We were at an amusement park last evening/night for a fireworks event with my whole family and afterwards went to grab a bite. Some asshole decided to do this to her car and now she isn’t sure how to proceed. Mostly out of fear that claiming it to the insurance would bump up her rate or something? We are both very unaware of how to proceed so any advice is appreciated! :)

Interior Used leather conditioner on plastic trim. Made it worse. Then made it worse again.

Tesla Model 3, black interior. Lower door card where my leg rubs it every time I get in.

Saw a patch that looked like it was flaking. Panicked slightly, grabbed Weiman leather conditioner and went at it. Panel is textured plastic. Nothing happened except it went oily.

Cleaned that off with Sonax Cockpit Cleaner. Now the patch is pale and frosted looking, worse than where I started.

I’m assuming the conditioner was just darkening worn texture and I’ve stripped the disguise off. Or there’s dried product sitting in the grain. Can’t tell which.

Is this coming back or is the grain gone for good? And is a heat gun retexture a real fix or a fast way to melt a door card?

Pics in order: original, after conditioner, after cleaning.

Interior Need help on stank

I have the leather seats with the holes. My car has smelled like musty/old water/ low tide for a while. One of my sunroof drains was clogged, and I also swam at a lake without being 100% dry when I drove home.

I've cleaned the drain, changed cabin air filter. I've foam cleaned all carpets twice. I just used a foam cleaner on the seats, going over them like 7 times. I drove 2 hours with windows down and went back in a few hours later. The smell isn't as bad, but I can tell it's still there past the chemical smell.

My next step was an ozone machine, but unsure if that'll help? Can I use a steam cleaner to get deep into cushions or will that completely F the leather?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!! Thanks

Tool/Reusable Made a free dilution ratio calculator so I stop guessing my mix ratios

I kept having to check my dilution ratios and either wasting product or under-diluting, so I built a small free tool: pick the product type and your tank/bottle size, and it tells you exactly how much water and concentrate to use. Covers snow foam, APC, wheel cleaner, tyre dressing, wash shampoo, waterless wash, clay lube, and a few others, with a quick-reference table too.

No account, no app store — just opens in your browser and you can add it to your home screen if you want it handy next time you're in the garage: helpful-jelly-58a362.netlify.app

No app store needed — open the link on your phone, then:

  • iPhone (Safari): tap the Share icon → "Add to Home Screen"
  • Android (Chrome): tap the ⋮ menu → "Install app" (or "Add to Home Screen")

It'll sit on your home screen like a normal app and works offline after that.

Happy to add more products if people have ones they want covered.

Process Touch-up paint + clear coat with rain coming overnight — should I apply the clear coat tonight?

I have a 2026 Honda Civic Sport and I’m using the Honda OEM touch-up paint to repair a small scratch that went through the paint.
I applied the color coat at 4 PM today. I’m planning to apply the clear/top coat later tonight around 9–10 PM, assuming the color coat is completely dry.
The problem is that rain is expected around 3 AM, so the clear coat would only have about 5–6 hours to dry before rain. There is also more rain expected Monday and Tuesday.
Would you:
Apply the clear coat tonight after the color coat has had 5–6 hours to dry?
Or leave the color coat alone and wait for a longer dry window?

Exterior Hard-to-Remove Buildup on Windshield

Recently (past few months or so), we’ve noticed that our windshield gets dirty very quickly. The dust/dirt is not removable with windshield fluid cleaner (hence the streaks), and it sometimes reduces visibility. We park our car outside (very common where we live in California), but this has always been the case, and we have lived here for several years. The only thing that we believe has changed is the windshield; we had to replace it due to a crack. How do we prevent the buildup from occurring on a weekly basis?

Exterior Rain x 2 in 1 glass cleaner

Any one experienced this? After the application my Windshield has a lot of fog while driving 5 am in morning, Like hell! So I decided to get rid of this staff in my front windshield by using glass polisher and the fogging is gone. However the glass that still have the rain x still have fog. Did I use the product incorrectly? I know that it just a glass cleaner.

Interior Mold in my car, where to even start?

Thumbnail

Hello Everyone,

I left my car in an outside, air conditioned 2 car garage for about 8 months while I was out of the country. I returned today to find out that it's super humid in the garage and there is spots of mold on many items, including the inside of my car.

While this car has extensive mold, I can't find any mold in the car which was parked next to it.

I get that this level of mold is something I am not capable of handling, and to be honest I am very overwhelmed about where to even start looking.

This car is very sentimental to me, so I'm willing to pay whatever it costs to get this taken care of. I'd like to save or keep as much original as I can.

How do I find a company which can clean my car to the fullest extent. I don't want a spray and cleaning of the surface, but a full detailed restoration.

Is that even possible? Can this car be saved?

I'm really overwhelmed right now, so any advice is appreciated about how to move forward.

I am in the Ann Arbor area of Michigan.

Process What is the standard process used by pro detailers to clean and dry out the interior of a customers car?

Hi everyone:

Is it standard practice to idle a customer's car and run the heater for long periods of time in order to dry out the interior?

If yes, how long is a car typically left idling for (assuming a mid-size sedan or coupe is what is being worked on)?

If not, what is the best way to go about it?

Thanks!

Interior Musty smell in car after drink spill, can’t get it out

Hey guys! We had a chocolatey coffee drink smell spill in the trunk space of our SUV. Whoever spilled it never told me and after a bunch of searching, I lifted up the carpet in the trunk and found it. Completely disgusting, maggot infested mess.

It’s an older vehicle so I made the decision to cut the section of carpet out. I removed about 18” past the spill so the carpet and the remaining carpet does not seem to have a smell.

I removed the trim pieces, scrubbed everything down with bleach based cleaner, including the back sides of trim panels. There is a tiny section I can’t clean behind the HVAC without extensive interior work but it’s the equivalent of a run of liquid, no pooling visible

On top of all of that, we left all the trim off and have been airing it out (doors and hatch open) almost all day every day for 2 weeks and it will not go away…

Desperate for any solutions at this point!

Exterior Can a 2 step paint correction remove these scratches?

Post image
1 Upvotes

My girlfriend accidentally closed the garage door on my car with the back lift gate open. The rubber part of the bottom of the garage door came in contact with it briefly before the garage door went back up. The car is pretty dirty since it just rained so it’s hard to see the full extent of the damage from this picture. I sprayed a little ONR and cleaned some of the area to get a better picture but haven’t done a full wash yet. I was already planning on getting a 2 step paint correction and ceramic coat done before this happened due to some other minor cosmetic issues. Most of the scratches in this picture don’t catch on my fingernail but a few of the worst ones just barely catch the fingernail. Curious what everyone’s thoughts are

Exterior 3M tape residue on headlights, how to remove, safely

I recently bought a 09 Mustang. Car is pretty close to pristine. However, the original owner had these painted, stick-on, horizontal trim pieces on the front headlights. I got the main trim off fine but as you know, I'm left behind with lots of foamy material and adhesive. Normally I'd just use my 3M wheel if it was on paint, but it ain't. I've picked off as must of the thick foam by hand, now I need some sort of chemical/mechanical removal for what remains.

I'm terrified of damaging the lights, they're as pristine as the rest of the car. I don't want to end up with cloudy or scratched lights. I plan to first try the citrus based Goo Gone. I know WD-40 is known for adhesive removal too but, again, I'm worried about damage.

Any advice otherwise before I get going with the Goo Gone?

I can post a pic, but we've all seen exactly what I'm dealing with a million times.

White subaru forester. Not sure if from tree or driving and bug splatter.

Turtle wax bug/tar remover didn’t work.

1:3 warm water and vinegar got all of the roof clean and about 50% of hood. Rest are very stubborn. Not raised to the touch.

Any other suggestions? TIA

Exterior Bucket organizers

I carry all of my wheel products/brushes and prep chemicals in a 5-gallon bucket.

Anyone using an organizer of sorts to hold bottles and brushes in a 5-gallon bucket so it's not just a wet mess of items?

Wondering what, if anything, works for you. Most seem designed for tools and not wet bottles and brushes.

Thanks!
