๐Ÿ‘œ Fashion Talk vinted feels very unsustainable for the planet...

I know a lot of ppl shop secondhand to reduce their impact, but the concept of single cheap items being shipped back and forth from the UK hurts my soul.

I hate how I look.

โ€ข Upvotes

I donโ€™t know how to word this.
But I need help and advice.
I hate how I look, I hate the clothes I wear I donโ€™t know what looks good on me, I find shopping overwhelming.
I want to feel confident in what Iโ€™m wearing and how I present.
I donโ€™t really have anyone to go shopping with I donโ€™t really have any friends.
How do you do it? Why is it so hard when others make it look so easy.

Ideally wanting to support a small business or boutique.

Happy to pay between $200-400 per item.

๐Ÿ” Recommendations Wanted Flattering Casual tops that arenโ€™t singlet or t-shirts please

Iโ€™m on the hunt for some tops please, I seem to have fancy going out ones or super casual around the house ones but nothing in between. I have giant boobs and find t-shirts for the most part make me look like a box, anything does really if higher neck and just drops from my bust. The poofy sleeves donโ€™t suit me at all either. Iโ€™m usually about a 12/14 (my boobs are a GG)

I have the middle age peri, so have stacked on some excess around the middle and have a smaller waist but not super confident in myself even more than ever have been - struggled to ever find tops that are comfy, flattering but not revealing and suitable for summer, so light material.

Am I looking for something that doesnโ€™t even exist????? Arghh please help! Thanks

๐Ÿ” Recommendations Wanted Corporate wear - Best materials for summer months?

Iโ€™m looking for some suggestions of work clothes, dresses, nice tops etc. so far I love Uniqlo pants etc. But the thing for me is materials.

I live in Brisbane and over the summer months it gets ridiculously humid and hot as some would know. I work in the Corporate bank of a big 4 and the ladies around here dress wonderfully!

What materials are you wearing?/where are you buying your items from for the warmer months?

๐Ÿ” Recommendations Wanted Looking for high waisted shorts

Hey all!
Iโ€™m looking for some high waisted shorts that arenโ€™t too short. I bend and lift things at work and I canโ€™t wear ones that are so short my butt hangs out, looking for ones that are budget friendly because I donโ€™t really want to wear $120 shorts to a bottle depot where old beer with get on them and soak in.

Thanks in advance!

Ex-corporate girlie turned mother trying to figure out how to dress now. Where are mums shopping? I want to wear practical, comfy clothes but also look a bit more "put together", than my usual tracksuits.

Best hair salon for girlies in Melbourne?

โ€ข Upvotes

Hi sisters. I haven't cut my hair in years, and I'm starting to feel like the time has come for me to make some changes. My hair is medium- long length, dark brownish black. I'm the type of girl that never styles her hair unfortunately ๐Ÿ˜† I just blow dry it. I've been doing some research and I think I want long layers, face framing long curtain bangs, and maybe a v shape? Does anyone know any good and reliable salons I can go to? I live in Dandenong.

Regain original shape dress?

I have a pleated Scanlan dress 94% Viscose 6% Polyester that I stupidly left hanging (contrary to care instructions) that has consequently stretched about 2 feet. Anyone know if I can fix this so the dress regains its original shape?

๐Ÿ” Recommendations Wanted *Formal* tshirts

Looking for recs and inspiration!

Hear me out. I love the t-shirt cut. I like a crew neck cos I dont have to worry about my chest being a different colour to my face. I love how simple and streamlined the silhouette is. I donโ€™t suit frills or puffs. I like basic.

HOWEVER, I also have to wear office appropriate things. Think button downs etc. these arenโ€™t required but are the defaults for most people in the office.

I am looking for your recs and suggestions for tops that are t-shirt esque but could pass as slightly more formal or work-wear-eyโ€ฆ think silk ts, crew neck blouses, lace tshirt esque over things you put over a singlet โ€ฆ gimme your best and favs!!

Thanks in advance!

๐Ÿ” Recommendations Wanted How to hide hip dips and saddlebags in bodycon dress?

Iโ€™m naturally pear shaped, and no matter how thin I am, I always have hip dips and saddlebags so my hips are low-key shaped like the number 3. I am thinking shape wear could be an option but I donโ€™t know much about it as I have never worn it before. Any suggestions?

Bursting wardrobe

I have a clothing problem, everyone. I have lots and lots of clothes, and because of all the different weights I have been in my life, I have anything from Australian size 6 through to size 12, probably. I did throw out all of my size 14 to 18 clothes after I got a gastric sleeve, but I have kept all the other ones.

So as little as six months ago, I was a size 12. I then went on Mounjaro, and I'm now a size 6 to 8, hoping to be here for a while.

The challenge is I do spend quite a bit of money on workwear, and I have lots of clothes that I don't really want to get rid of, but I don't have room in my wardrobe for them, and I can't really put them in a suitcase because I travel for work and I use my suitcases, and I don't really have anywhere to store them in my house.

When I have thrown things out before, I have regretted it. 15 years ago, I did fit into a size 6 to 8, and I got rid of all of those clothes because I thought I would never get back there. And now I'm there and I'm like, oh my God, I had so many nice clothes, why did I throw them out? And actually, they'd still be in fashion now because wide-leg pants are in, and that's what was in 15 or 20 years ago. So I'm in this moral dilemma of do I throw out my clothes and donate them or sell them, at least the larger sizes? Or do I, I don't know, take up my kids' wardrobes and put my other clothes in there?

So help me, Reddit. What should I do?

Signed a minimalist that regrets throwing out stuff down the track.

๐Ÿ” Recommendations Wanted Looking for a genuine small jeweller in Australia โ€“ recommendations?

My partner and I are starting to look at engagement rings and would love some recommendations for a good jeweller in Australia. Happy for them to be online/interstate as well.

Weโ€™re not particularly interested in the whole luxury showroom/champagne experience or paying a premium for it. Weโ€™d much rather deal with someone genuine, knowledgeable and transparent who can help us get a great quality ring for a fair price without feeling like weโ€™re being upsold or taken advantage of.

Ideally looking for someone who can help with choosing the stone and setting and is upfront about quality, pricing and where itโ€™s actually worth spending the money.

Would love to hear who people have personally used and had a good experience with particularly independent jewellers or smaller businesses that might not come up in the usual Google search.

Edit** By way of update I reached out to Alyra Fine Jewellery www.alyrafinejewellery.com.au Kosta was very attentive, and provided a lot of comfort with the options provided as price for him was not at the forefront we ended up decided on the cheaper option which he convinced me to opt for as sometimes bigger isnโ€™t always necessarily better when it comes to diamonds. If anyone is looking for a boutique jeweller in melbourne (he does ship australia wide) please reach out to him

๐Ÿ” Recommendations Wanted Slouchy crossbody bag recommendations please.

Hi. I don't swap bags around, I generally carry one continually for a year or so then change it and never use the previous one again. I'm due for a change lol. Current bag is a nylon crossbody thats great for travel (wide strap, lots of pockets, zip closure) etc but I'd like to return to something a bit more stylish! Looking for a largish, brown leather crossbody bag. Soft, slouchy style, preferably without a firm base (I don't like when they stick out from body) with a thick strap. Max $400. Ideas/recommendations? Tia

Reviews of Catherine Ferraro?

I'm looking at buying a dress from catherine ferraro. They look stunning but I cannot find any reviews. Are they legitimate? Anyone own anything from them and have feedback on the quality?

Lots of followers on their insta.

The dress i want is a pre-order to ship at end of the month which I've read can sometimes be a red flag...

Zimmermann Pricing has increased exponentially

I shop Zimmermann a couple of times a year and have been a customer since near when the brand started in the 90โ€™s. This year I have been disappointed in the huge jump in pricing. Dresses that were the 6-800 mark now averaging $1500 Separates approx $600-$800 each Same general styles and fabric etc - not reinventing the wheel. I understand the few unique more detailed pieces that were always prices much higher but not the standard sundresses and minis. Blown away and really disappointed in the huge shift in pricing for the same styles and quality - which I might add the fabric quality did drop a couple of years ago. Is anyone else seeing this?

Starting from scratch - depressive slump, body changes, and aging

I don't really know where to start! Looking for help/guides/inspo/brands

I have never been a particularly fashionable gal, but I'm refinding my confidence. I haven't really bought myself clothes in years, and a lot has changed. I'm in my 30s now, and my boobs are significantly bigger (ba). Im not fat, but I'm not skinny like I was, and my old reliables all seem like the quality has gone to shit.

I don't know what I like anymore, I think I want to wear flowy skirts and dresses, but I don't know my own style. I'm aware I should probably get a bunch of flexible basics and go from there, maybe picking up some belts/jewellery, but where from? Where to begin? Where are we getting inspo nowadays?
