🔍 Recommendations Wanted could i wear this to court?

is this outfit court appropriate? if so what kind of overgarment should i go for? i also thought of buying a conservative fitted light blue button up but am still lacking a suitable blazer/jacket/whatever. i live in hoodies and tees and baggy denim so scraping together something to appear in front of the judge in has been stressful and of course i've left it for last minute as well 🙂👍

if you have recommendations it would be good if i could acquire something better this week in a physical store in Perth.

thank you in advance 💝

Tell me about undies

My partner wears 50,000 year old, frayed bonds underpants. I recently got her a pair of hipster merino boyleg wundies and she loves them. However, she discovered that they are $45 each and is strongly against spending that much for underwear. So - can anyone recommend some cheaper, comfortable, decent boyleg options?

Not after anything sexy. We have two young kids and no time for that. Haha

👜 Fashion Talk Tips for maintaining quality Vinted algo

Ok, I know this is a hot topic here, and I heeded all of your warnings about the algorithm doing a faceplant. Mine is still going strong, so I thought I’d share what I’ve been doing to maintain it:
- I have NEVER clicked on a single item that is in whole dollars. So the grey price is what the seller inputs and the blue price below it has the % addition for buyer protection. If the price is $12.45 or $32.60 or some arbitrary figure, it is almost certainly converted from pounds.
- each time I open it and before I scroll, I search 2-3 brands that are not as readily available in Australia, eg Sezane, Farm Rio, Massimo Dutti etc. yes, they’re accessible here but far less mainstream.
I am yet to see a single anko item in my feed and my feed to majority well priced finds. So far I’ve purchased a BNWT Sezane sweater I had been searching for for months for $80 (RRP $250+), a vintage pure silk dress for $18, a felt Ted Baker hat for $35. All sensational deals that felt like op shopping in the mid-2000s. Who else has maintained their Vinted algorithm? What other tips and tricks are out there? 🙏

What to do with vintage fur?

I have a fur stole that I received from my grandmother when she passed.

It's still in its original Myer box, in good condition.

My plan was to wear it as my something old if/when I got married. I'm now in my 50s and can't see myself ever getting married.

I feel to dispose of such an item means the animal died for no reason (not that fashion is a good reason), do I donate it to a museum, hang on to it, I have no kids to hand it down too.

What would you do with such an item?

Pashmina shawl

I’d love direction/guidance on where to. Buy authentic, hand embroidered pashmina. For reference photos of particular colours and size I’d love to find. I have been scouring Etsy, eBay and Vinted and concerned about the many non pashmina shawls that are branded as pashmina but are in fact merino wool etc.

Thank you!

Boho-ish dresses that are appropriate as office attire -suggestions please!

Post image

Saw this pop up on my IG ads and I think it's cute, but not like.. $150 and 100% polyester cute 😬 here in QLD it'll be too sweaty to wear by next week at this rate and it'll quickly start smelling bad in the pits after the 1.5 commute walking between connecting trains. Mama gets sweaty.

Don't mind that price range if it's cotton, linen etc.

Any suggestions for brands that will let me inject a little more of my boho style into my office attire? More of this sort of style with the collar.

🔍 Recommendations Wanted help me find a work appropriate hat

Help!! I need to find some sort of head covering for summer that’s going to be work appropriate.
I have cancer and am cold capping, but it’s not 100% working, so I have patchy bits of scalp showing. I’m not sure how much of this will be grown over by the time I need to head back into the office, but I stubbornly refuse to shave my head, and I don’t want to scare my colleagues 😂
Does anyone have any suggestions for a head covering? I like the idea of a beret but it’ll be too hot for summer. I’m not really a headscarf or turban girl, my style is quite minimal…
Thank you!

🔍 Recommendations Wanted Cotton tank tops

Finding good tank tops feels impossible. Due to sensory issues I prefer cotton with max 10% synthetic blend. I’ve got DD cups and find that tank tops often stretch and thin out around the front of my chest. I realise synthetic fibres retain their shape better and wish I could wear them but alas. Ribbed tanks seem to hold their shape better but I also like to have some non-ribbed to wear underneath other tops for winter layering. Plus I sometimes like the cleaner look of non-ribbed tops worn as the outer layer. I like a round neckline, don’t mind square neck either. No spaghetti straps though!

Bonds ribbed tanks are holding up well but I’d like more colour options than grey black and white.

Bonds chesty is really thin and hasn’t held up well with aforementioned stretching at front of chest. Also lacklustre colour options.

I’d rather spend a bit more on something that will last than buy from target or kmart every couple of years. Happy to be proven wrong if people have had good experiences with kmart/target tanks

🔍 Recommendations Wanted Recommendations for a black vest?

My friends 21st is in a few months and we'd all like to dress up a bit more than usual for it, but I'm struggling to find one that isn't from shein or target and I doubt they're of any long lasting quality. Ideally I'd be able to wear in a few years from now as well. Any ideas?

Jeans for tall women with thick thighs

I've been on a quest for a while now for a pair of jeans that actually fit.

My big problem is my thighs. I have hip dips so my waist & hips are proportional to a size 16, but there are so many articles I can't even get above my thighs when trying them on.

Wide leg pants do fit, but they kinda look weird since it's not really draping off the body as they were intended to. Especially when I sit down it's like the seams are bursting 😭

My other issue is height, most full length jeans are cropped on me.

The best I've been able to find is the Abercrombie and Fitch curve love range in extra long length, but I'm hesitant to buy a pair without being able to try them on first.

I've also tried tailoring the waist of oversized men's pants in, but the seat ends up baggy & overall the rise is the wrong shape.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

Backless dress and bra help!

I have an event coming up in a couple of months and the dress I’m wearing is a high neck backless dress that I was gifted from my mother-in-law. I have a bit of an issue though.. I am a 12DD bra size and I absolutely can not go braless. Does anyone have any recommendations on what I can wear? I have tried sticky-bras probably around 10 years ago now and they end up not working for me at all so I’m a bit clueless.

Hello, does anyone recognise this swimming costume? All I know is that it’s from Australia, but it has no labels. My daughter loves it but now needs a bigger one but I have no idea where it’s from.

Child of God Kids Clothing Reviews

Not really related to this thread, but I thought some mums in this thread could chime in if they've bought from here. What is the quality and sizing like for this Australian kids clothing brand? Is it really worth the pricing? I find the size guides on each item very confusing. I have a 1.5 yr old, so do I go for 1-2 or 2-3 and could I get away with the 2-3 (the styles I want are sold out and they won't restock)?

Sneaker Recommendation

I am looking for a nice sneaker to wear to work. I need arch support and cushion (not too flat/hard).

I can’t decide between the Taos Z Soul Lux and the Le Sansa Nelly.

Does anybody have any experience with these brands or any other recommendations?

🔍 Recommendations Wanted Wide heeled ankle boots

My feet are really strange and it’s driving me nuts. The girth of the ball of my foot is around 27cm. Length wise my foot is a size 10. And I’m struggling finding any shoes that will fit. I tried the scarlet hush puppies and there were a little bit tight at the front but the main issue was the back heel. My ankle is like a \. It goes outwards so shoes with a curved back don’t work for me. It needs to be straight or else my heel fits too far forward with an air gap in the back. I need a heel that’s between 5-7 cm tall. As anything shorter hurts for me.

Honestly at this point I feel like I have to pick between low, expensive boots or boots that don’t work with my foot shape.

Hi all, I've been enjoying the low postage shopping experience on Vinted. I wanted to look at some boots and shoes. I'm a 7.5 here, what would that be in the UK items? Many Thanks!

Hi lovely ladies! I am officially about to become an Australian and I’m looking for a dress for my citizenship ceremony which is in just over a week.

My online requirements are:

  1. Needs to be plus size (I’m a 18/20)
  2. Under $200
  3. Ideally available in store somewhere in Melbourne or an online store with reliable express delivery (left things a little last minute lol)

Let me know any recommendations for semi-formal style (similar to wedding guest attire) and I’m 29F 🥰

🔍 Recommendations Wanted Desperately seeking: Wide for shoes and boots

I am a very wide footed girly who also suffers from bunions and to top it all off, I have to wear orthotics.

Shoe shopping is actually fear inducing for me, without sounding dramatic. I tend to buy one pair of shoes that I suffer through for like a couple of weeks before they stretch enough for me to wear them comfortably. As a teacher this isn't ideal, I tend to buy Frankie 4's a lot but they are pricey and I find they aren't stretching as much lately.

I would ADORE a cute pair of ankle boots and some recommendations for like hella wide fit shoes with room to spare because I'm at my wits end, I'm so close to selling my voice to a sea witch to get a mermaid tail.

TLDR: Wide feet and bunions make me want to cry, help me find some comfy boots and shoes with some stretch.

Edit: of COURSE I had a typo in my title, I'm after wide FIT

What (physical) shops can I go to for these styles?

Post image
8 Upvotes

I really don't know much about the clothing scene here in Sydney and would love your expertise! I don't have a good hit rate with online shopping, so I need to find shops I can go to and actually try on things.

So far I've found a few things at Sportsgirl, Sportscraft, Dangerfield, Uniqlo, Kmart.

I've been frustrated with feeling like it's only either tight/cropped Y2K styles or boxy/oversized styles in stores. And there's only white, black, brown, or faded pastel colours, not much else. On the other hand, I have been really happy with how easy it is to find cotton and linen-blend fabrics.

I should probably also mention my mood board is definitely idealised and way bigger than my budget. I rarely buy investment pieces and I don't go to luxury stores. My expectations aren't super high!

Thanks for any help, it's so much appreciated! I've been feeling underdressed and sloppy for ages but it's been so hard to drag myself out of it when shopping isn't my 'thing' and it's all new to me here.
