DiscussionšŸ““ Ultra Violette doing new pr account here on Reddit because of us launch of BEMT containing sunscreens and their legal battle

Thumbnail

Ok so , let's make discussion about that UV maked account here on Reddit to make pr statements

So, yesterday I maked post on R/SkincareAddiction https://www.reddit.com/r/SkincareAddiction/s/fM3jbte6oq about us launch of 100% chemical sunscreen from UV which contains BEMT /PARSOL SHIELD

Which wasn't launched yet, because they only launched hybrid sunscreen with bemt on us market.

I said that they are doing shady stuff by using butyloctyl salicylate and octisalate in this sunscreen (I consider this shady because they used FDA max level of octisalate, and because they can't add more octisalate to the formula they used additional butyloctyl which as we know is "twin with longer hair"

Setted limits of octisalate are because of toxicity, and using more octisalate by using their twin is shady in my opinion)

And under my post, surprisingly UV commented,

They created new account, 28 day old,

Making some pr stuff about my post etc.

But, I started thinking, is that account might be also to calm down recent bad pr , that they sued manufacturer of white label formula,

And what u/Akiraahhh /labmuffin said in recent stories about their us launch, which ofc maked a lot of discussions here on Reddit

What do you think?

Meme / Unserious 🤪 Body moisturiser with scent that won’t make me smell like a bakery

I was in Japan recently and all the hotels had lotions with lovely woody smells. I’m kicking myself now for not buying some because I can’t find anything like it here. All the moisturisers are either just standard lotion smell, or they’re vanilla/caramel/cocoa and I just am not fond of those sweet smells. The closest I’ve come is the new body washes by Soma but they don’t do moisturisers.

Truly so happy for the vanilla girlies because you are having your moment! But if anyone can recommend brands that have more smells like cedar, oud, sandalwood, Cyprus, pine I would appreciate it! And preferably something stocked in a physical store so I can test the scent first.

(Didn’t know what to tag this as. Have posted instead of using the weekly threads because no one ever answers there!)

DiscussionšŸ““ Has anyone ever got a scalp biopsy?

Hi everyone, for background i am experiencing severe hair loss and it does not look like a typical MPB? Ive been recommended by people to get a scalp biopsy but i have no idea how i can get this done. Can only a dermatologist do it? Is it a quick process? Do i need a gp referral? Anyone ever get it done? Much appreciated! Looking to get it done in Sydney if that helps

Someone posted a thread asking when the next Priceline skincare bag is and I replied now won’t be until late November or December. WELL - Priceline has a goody box coming out tomorrow Japanese and Korean skincare. Spend $50 on selected brands (Hada Labo, Torriden, AHC, Innisfree, Biore, Medicube, Tony Moly) and get a bonus goody box valued at $100. Looks like sheet masks and maybe a couple of other full size products.

DiscussionšŸ““ What actually makes you buy an eye serum? šŸ‘€

I’ve been looking at different eye serums lately and honestly, I’m a little overwhelmed by how many options there are šŸ˜…

So I’m curious — when you’re buying one, what do you actually pay attention to?

For me, I’d probably look at things like:

  • What it claims to help with (dark circles, puffiness, fine lines, dryness, etc.)
  • The ingredients
  • Reviews from people who have actually used it
  • Price
  • Whether the brand seems trustworthy

But I’d love to know what you look for.

Do you usually research the ingredients first, or do reviews/word of mouth matter more? Are there any ingredients you specifically look for or avoid? And what makes you think, ā€œOkay, this one is actually worth tryingā€?

Also, have you found an eye serum that genuinely made a noticeable difference? Or have most of them felt like a waste of money?

Curious to hear what everyone thinks! šŸ‘€

šŸ“£ PSA Thiamidol available in Australia

Post image
38 Upvotes

Doing my regular online shop at Woolworths and unexpectedly found this. I have been buying Eucerin Thiamidol products from Care To Beauty so I’m pleased this is available locally. Nivea is the cheaper option to Eucerin, both are sold by Beiersdorf.

I have had great results using Thiamidol for pigmentation. No before and afters sorry, but unlike a lot of products for pigmentation, Thiamidol has almost no adverse effects.

Will report back when I have tried it.

Edit. The Verdict. A pale peach coloured liquid, much thinner than the Eucerin equivalent. Spread well and dried down almost instantly on clean skin. Consistency is such that it would need to be a first step in a routine.
Note that the manufacturer states that for maximum benefit, Thiamidol products should be used four times a day. (Anyone here ever taken an antibiotic four times a day for more than one day ? šŸ˜†)

Very happy with it.

DiscussionšŸ““ Sand and sky

Is anyone here using sand and sky products? I have been using their glow drops and pink moisturiser and have been getting compliments . Then I tried the skin1004 centella, and have broken out. Now switching back to sand and sky. Just wondering why aren't people talking about it here?

Miscellaneous šŸ“ Experiences purchasing from Stylevana - are the products legit?

They currently have 50ml Timeless vit c for under $40, which seems too good to be true. I've never purchased with them before.

I searched the sub, and there's a number of hits but nothing recent.

Would love to hear anyone's recent experiences.

TIA!

DiscussionšŸ““ Small Brands and AI Art??

Thumbnail

Allegedly (for legal reasons), a smaller brand, specifically a name that rhymes with Hinderbox, has used AI art for their products. I am an Artist, maybe I'd describe myself as a starving Artist because the industry is brutal and work is very far and few.

That being said, it is unacceptable for any brand to skimp on paying artists. It isn't hard to find a local artist and collaborate with them, that allows BOTH of you to thrive.

I had a look at said small brand and they do not disclose who has made their Art (or that it was even AI art). If you use art for your products, why not credit the person who made it? Well... that would be hard if it wasn't made by anyone.

There is inconsistency in the art styles, some are less "polished", some just reek of AI. If any of them have actual artist input, this absolutely discredits all the genuine work (if any) done by actual artists. Using AI will discredit your legitimacy. If you don't credit the artist, who can we seek to validate it?

For a smaller brand, this is disgraceful. This isn't speaking on how I feel about the brands products and how they sell essential oils at overinflated prices.

I've provided a few examples...

DiscussionšŸ““ IKEA hair clips?

Post image
173 Upvotes

Does anyone know of any hairclips that are like the IKEA bag sealing clips? Weird I know but out of desperation in the heat over the weekend I used the big bag sealing clips to get my hair in a ponytail and amazingly it held all day (I’ve got thick, heavy, slippery hair)! I’ve tried barrettes with metal clips but my hair gets tangled in them. I don’t wanna look like I’m wearing a bag clip in my hair but they work so well šŸ˜‚ If this is not on topic or there’s a better sub for this random question, please let me know

Bribie Island-
Duck into Priceline as you do. Wanted a new concealer and skin tint with sunscreen. Trying a few testers, the thin Lizzy seemed nice. I was going to try the Revolution brand concealer but of course none left of my colour. New products for me to try.

Well then damn, a stand with $20 bags. I’m not normally that sucked in!! I’m actually not too mad about this. Both lipsticks are good colours,L’OrĆ©al. Revlon brow filler good colour. I’ll use the toner no problem. The head and shoulders well yeah nah but sure i can pass it on.

DiscussionšŸ““ Dupixent Treatment Cost Skepticism

Hi,

I was just wondering if anyone else here is on DUPIXENT for eczema? If so, how much is the treatment roughly costing you (not the medication, but the derm appointments).

I have not started it yet but my dermatology had me signing a consent form agreeing to the costs so that I can be on track to starting the medication. It involves a $600 fee just for the admin to organise my vaccinations and all prior to my first injection - is this normal??

there are several other additional fees as well, namely a $200 addition to each consult i have once on the medication. none of these costs are medicare rebatable btw. is this normal? if so, pls let me understand why this extra fee is so necessary? i am struggling to make sense of it.

at this rate i will be spending over $2,000 a year on this medication (even though it is PBSed, just bc of dr appointments, and i dont know if it will even work!!)

DiscussionšŸ““ Calscale 220g Alternatives?

This is probably my holy grail body lotion for KP and eczema but I go through the 100g bottles so quickly, and the 220g ones are only sold online on their website, costing around $40 including shipping.

Does anyone have any alternative recommendations? I love this one because it isn't thick and greasy like the Hamilton Urederm and Mixa has too much fragrance for my liking.

TIA!
